Hello everyone, this is Yaltta!
Since returning to Korea, we've been missing Indian food, so we decided to take on the challenge of cooking it ourselves.
We made three dishes: Palak Paneer, Biryani, and Sambar. We chose these recipes because they are not only realistic to make but also hold special memories for us.
We watched a lot of RU-vid videos on Indian cooking and did our research, but admittedly, it didn't quite match the taste of the food we had in India, haha!
Still, cooking these dishes made us feel like we were back in India traveling all over again, which was a joyful experience.
Exploring international markets in Korea to gather ingredients for these dishes was also a unique adventure.
We hope you enjoy watching our fun-filled cooking vlog!
Thank you!

Its because they need to import all the spices and stuff from India and also I think its because lack of competition among food retailers as in very few shops selling Indian Spices & Food so what that means is that people who really need to buy these will have to pay higher prices. If there were more of these Indian food stores then the competition will drive down the price to some degree but obviously it will be expensive because it needs to be imported and cost of living in South Korea is higher than in India but then so are the average wages

In biriyani when you marinate meat then add some yogert , Ginger garlic pest , some fried onion and then marinate for 45 min to 1 hour . And when you cook rice you can cook it differently and boil it and check the rice when it 80%is done. When you prepare for masala add onion , ginger garlic pest and masalas cook it for 10 min then add the marinate meat and cook it after this then put the cooked rice in it and after that put coriander mint some biriyani masala in it. Your biriyani is rea'dy. . Because you don't know how much water was needed in biriyani that's why your biriyani becomes moisty. Enjoy your day😊😊

Ajanta caves (Buddhist cave famous for painting) 5. Kaziranga National park (One horned rhinasoures) 6. Bhimbetka rock shelters and painting (30,000 years old) 7. Great living temples of Chola empire (3 in number- ¹Brihadisvara Temple at Thanjavur, ² Brihadisvara Temple at Gangaikondacholisvaram and ³Airavatesvara Temple at Darasuram. 8. Sundarbans (for Royal bengal tiger) Apart from this, some tradition and customs are- 1. Durga Puja of west bengal 2. Buddhist chanting of Leh 3. Kalbeila dance of Rajasthan 4. Vibrant Ganesh festival of Maharashtra (Mumbai or Pune) 5. Rath yatra of Jagganath Puri (Search all these images and you will definitely fall in love with it) Thank you once again. Very good attempt at the food! I will offer the following couple of suggestions: Palak paneer is completely correct. Biryani I can't judge because I don't know how to make biryani myself. For sambhar, as a matter of fact, we usually have one or two major ingredients in the sambhar - not everything put together. For example, okra sambhar, drumstick (murungakkai) sambhar, radish sambhar, or carrot sambhar. It's not very common to add potatoes at all, and in my family, at least, we don't add onion or garlic either (and honestly no tomato either). In terms of preparation: As you started, prepare the dal first (we call it paruppu) and keep it aside. Then, in a separate pot, add oil, then mustard seeds, once they start popping (in 5-10 seconds), reduce heat a little bit and then directly add your vegetable of choice (carrot, radish, pumpkin, okra, etc.). Add sambhar podi (sambhar masala), turmeric, salt, asafoetida, and chili powder if you want. Stir fry it and let it cook for 5-10 minutes. Then add water and quite a bit of tamarind paste, as well as a little bit of all of the spices again. Let the sambhar cook for some time (maybe 30 minutes), then add the paruppu to the sambhar at the very end. This is the most basic sambhar. I think for your Korean taste buds, radish sambhar will be the best. This method of cooking is called "tadka" or "thalippu" and forms the essence of what "curry" is. Curry basically means cooked food, and the essence of what foreigners tend to associate with "Indian flavor" tends to come from pan-frying vegetables or meats in a mixture of cumin or mustard seeds with desired spices (esp. turmeric) [just like you did with palak paneer]. In South India as compared to North India (except for Gujarat/Sindh), we tend to use mustard seeds for many essential dishes such as sambhar, rasam, kuzhambu, kootu and cumin for some vegetables, whereas in North India cumin is the essential "curry" flavor-imparter. Also, the masalas change - in South India for example we don't use garam masala for most dishes (at least in my experience), but in North India you will find it in pretty much everything. Of course, this is very broad and there are lots of regional variations, but if you understand this basic step in Indian cooking (starting with cumin or mustard seed in oil/ghee, cooking your vegetables and spices in that for some time, and then liquefying it as appropriate - with tomato/onion paste + various modifiers in North India and tamarind or just left dry in South India), then you know how to make "Indian food". Good attempt - look forward to seeing you try again! In terms of places you enjoyed in India, I think you guys seem to like places that have slightly less crowds and have something beautiful to see. From that standpoint, I would most strongly recommend the various Maratha hilltop forts between Mumbai and Pune - they are very beautiful, green, peaceful, and show unique history. You might also like Ajanta and Ellora as well. I would also recommend Nagaland (Dzükou valley, Wokha), Mizoram, Sikkim, and Arunachal Pradesh (esp. Tawang, Tuting, and Mechuka). Indians also really like Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Haridwar and Rishikesh are a more peaceful, cleaner, and wealthier Varanasi - I highly recommend those if you want a nice blend of spiritual and aesthetics. I think you will really like Spiti, and if you visit Ladakh, next time I would strongly recommend Zangskar. In my personal opinion, I think you might also like Jammu and Kashmir, Rann of Kutch and Dholavira in Gujarat, Rameshwaram/Dhanushkodi in Tamil Nadu, Mahabalipuram and Pondicherry, Ooty and the Nilgiris, Gandikota and Araku Valley in Andhra Pradesh, and my personal favorite is Odisha - you can easily spend a week there (Chilikat Lake, Puri, Konark, Bhubaneshwar, Cuttack, and some waterfalls and Adivasi experiences nearby, with beautiful arts and crafts) and not run out of things to do. Hampi will have crowds, but if you like history, it's a must-see in my opinion. You might also enjoy northern Kerala (around Kozhikode and Kannur), which has even better food than Southern and Central Kerala and better beaches than Varkala (and you can even make your way further up north into Karnataka). Looking forward to the rest of your videos! Sorry for the long message. Honestly, if you enjoyed India that much, you should consider getting someone in India to sponsor you so that you can travel, make money, and get promoted, too. We get to watch more videos, you get to do something you enjoy, so it's a win-win for all of us. 😊

Nice suggestion by my countryman --- use limited Turmeric as it is very strong. Not only makes a dish very yellow but could make it bitter. Secondly, garam masala is always added when the dish is just about ready. Do not put it at the beginning. Thirdly, please add salt while caramalizing onions and garlic. Fourthly dishes like chicken or Mutton require putting some water to give a rich thin tasty gravy. Also tenderizes the meats better.

I can see you really enjoyed you stay. This is the thing about India. Our culture, the daily lives and habits in itself are a way of living. I really enjoyed your whole series as well. Just subbed.👍 Be happy and positive. Love from India.❤😊 BTW, I was really worried till you brought paneer. I was like, "they showed everything but where is Paneer?" xD. Palak Paneer without Paneer is just a disaster lmao.😂

I'll give A+ for effort especially when you chose tough dishes 👍🏻 and don't worry next time I'll be very cheap groceries bcoz now you already have most of the spices & ghee which you can keep on using in several future dishes , tip : too much (haldi) turmeric isn't good , it's very potent spice and don't assume it as just a food color , it's better to use it more during winters as turmeric tends generates body heat after eating it .

Your efforts for cooking the food is really appreciable, though the video is of 20-25 mins but it takes entire day to cook so much food. Great efforts.

There's this thing called as 'tadka'. I'll recommend you to watch some videos on it and believe me you'll be ready to make most of the Indian curries. Tadka is like a common recurring procedure in many Indian curries. The first time you do it, you'll feel like your nose, throat and eyes are burning but that's just because of the dried chillies, so remember to keep your windows open while doing that. Just give it a try, you won't regret it. Another thumb rule you can use for all kinds of spices be it turmeric powder, chilli powder or garam masala powder or any other spice mix (powder) is that if you are preparing the dish for 2-3 people, then try to keep the amount of each powder to maximum of 1 to 1.5 tbsp. And increase the amount proportionately when the serving size increases. For example, if you want to make the dish for 4-5 people then the powders should be 2-3 tbsp each.P.S. Use this thumb rule only if you aren't aware of the exact recipe.

After analysing your last message i got emotional. Understanding how nice and easy it is to judge someone with their actions which are misunderstood. Bharat🇮🇳 is an extraordinaryly extroverted country and korea is kind of introvert. If you think koreans are racist as much as indians are but the junk of people being racist will be around 1% in both the countries you can't judge people through such a minute amount of people. I think koreans are not racist they are not used to foreigners or english language like india 🇮🇳 if you no some english you can start conversation💭💬🗯. So please don't leave hate comment spread love and awareness. Because world is so big to argue in a comment section filled with hate. Waiting for your jaisalmer series. Stay safe and healthy💪. Lot's of love❤

Hey, I have been planning to visit Japan. And now that you have visited India, you would probably understand how intimidating Japan may feel. Would you able to help share some insights on non-touristy things to do in Japan for an Indian, foods to try, shopping districts that locals visit. It would be super interesting!! Secondly quick tips on your cooking. 1. Go easy on the turmeric & Chilli. Add the masala to the tempering, let it cook, taste and then add more if needed. 2. If you need color in your food, ensure u turmeric (for yellow color), Chilli (for red color) to the oil while tempering. Unless you add the spice to the oil, you won't get any color. Masalas unlock their color in hot oil. 3. to the paneer in palak paneer, you can also pan fry/saute the panner before you add it to the curry. 4. For sambhar, you can boil dal with veggies along with turmeric & salt in one go in the cooker. Then hand churn it a bit, and add tempering in the add to boil it off with sambhar masala & Salt. 5. You can cook rice & meat masala separately. then layer them in a different pot and slow cook for 10-15 min for that restaurant type looks.

For chilli powder theres always variations. Kashmiri chilli powder is less spicy and more vibrant. Whereas i think its rajasthani or just tikhalal is the spicier version less vibrant.
