I felt like this song was the epitome of playing it safe. Really by the numbers. Chorus felt bland and didn't stick, musically it was...well it was Korn, that's all really, not really a standout song at all. I'm glad other fans like it, but as a massive Korn fan I feel very underwhelmed. It just kinda sounds like a leftover SOS song, and that album was also pretty disappointing to me; about 5 or 6 songs on it were really great and the rest were extremely forgettable. Jonathan's solo record last year was more enjoyable than the last 4 actual Korn records for me. I miss their experimental stuff like SYOTOS and Untitled. I just feel like this was a poor choice for a lead single - I really hope the album ends up being fantastic and that this turns out as the only dud on it for me.
Scout Interesting. Sonically and in terms of the kinds of melodies used, I don’t hear TSOS at all. I don’t think it’s setting the world alight but this is definitely one side of Korn I really dig, when they really embrace their darker gothic side of things. I couldn’t get with the world music side of Jonathan’s solo record at all but that I’m even talking about him doing world music is what I mean by he is always trying new shit.
Im sort of torn. I love the chorus but first off the production is personally not my cup of tea. Its obvious they are going for that old school raw feel. I prefer the crisp wall of guitars like SOS. Serenity s first two singles were so damn good I knew it would be really hard to top. This new song just didnt floor me like korn usually does. The riff is just standard korn in the same tuning they always use. It sort of sounds like a slowed down Good god. I really hope they change it up a little tuning wise cause that alone will just breath a little new life into the sounds. Its funny cause you would think I hate the song. I dont at all. Im just used to being floored by there first single and after the incredible last album, bringing back the same producer the bar was set suuuuper high. Plus JD put tons of time into it I just expected some next level korn. Its standard korn. I do get a little worried that this is what they wanted the first single to be as they usually try to pick one of the better riffs on the record. At least we get 13 tracks!! I do dig the chorus but again production wise this just isnt doing it for me. Remember the first time you heard RIV or insane? Those riffs knocked me on my ass. They sounded huge.
+lfcizdabest This is a great song. The beginning of the song, reminds me of something off of Korn’s second album, “Life is Peachy”. This song has old, and new school vibes. Every time I hear this song, I get a “Life is Peachy”, “Issues” and “The Serenity of Suffering” vibes, especially toward the end of the song when Jonathan Davis, the vocalist yells, and hits something. This is going to be a heavy album. Below, I’m going to leave some links to my very own guitar improvisations since I am a musician. I came up with my own improvisations of what thesongs, may sound like on Korn’s new album, “The Nothing”. The first song I’ll post below, is a link to my guitar improvisation of what track 1, “The End Begins” may sound like on Korn’s new album. Note that these are my own compositions. I have a great imagination. Sorry if my comment is long. Lol. Here are the links. Please let me know what you think. We don’t know what “The end Begins”, and track 2, “Cold” will sound like. We will know what the first 2 songs will sound like when September 13 comes, and “The Nothing is Released”. Please sub to my other channel, after clicking on the links to the videos below! Note that I am a blind guitarist who loves to improvise, and imagine what future tracks off of future albums may sound like. Lol.
