Hey people of the internet! In this video a I discuss and compare the Kosas tinted face oil vs Ilia the ilia skin tint. Who are these products for? @@sarahpalmyra Questions: 1. Do u recommend applying under eye concealer before or after applying skin tint? 2. Do you apply skin tint over under eye concealer? 3. Does Kosas concealer have SPF? If not, I'd love to find a similar concealer to Kosas that does have SPF. I love that ILIA skin tint has SPF. Just would be ideal if they both did. Thoughts?

JULiA BLiSS the kosas concealer does not have SPF in it unfortunately, so that would be something you’d have to add separately. Depending on your skin type, supergoop and tarte make a sunscreen powder that you can dust over top the skin for sun protection. Otherwise there are primers and moisturizers on Sephora’s website that have sunscreen in them as well. I usually put the skin tint on before concealer since it’s so lightweight but it’s really personal preference, you can play around to see what works best for you. I did a video on physicians formula’s concealer which does have SPF in it but it is a light coverage product ☺️

Thanks for the closeup on the clinging to dry patches. I have heard that noted a few times on youtube, but never really had an idea what it was. Getting the closeup made a world of difference. I know what that is, I have had it happen, and now I know what it is called (and what to pay attention for). That was really helpful thanks! I hope you are doing well and stay safe.

love this so much, thanks for the comparison! I too find the Kosas tinted oil shows all my dry spots immediately. I basically have bathed my face in layers of the Ilia serum since I got it 2 days ago, it's absolutely gorgeous, and instantly makes you look like you have a flawless skincare routine. I had been liking the Glossier future dew serum under makeup before I tried this, but the Ilia serum gives a very similar effect, so I prefer it since it's clean/non-toxic. I've tried the Kosas concealer and also find it's the perfect dewy consistency and coverage, but does definitely run yellow in tone, so I have to use it sparingly. I'm the lightest shade and have pink/red undertones so definitely at least need a neutral shade.

awe yay I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! Completely agree with you, the ilia serum is absolutely gorgeous and definitely gives me glossier future dew vibes. I haven't thought of trying it as a primer but I definitely will now--I bet it adds a ton of radiance, I have mixed a few drops of it into other products and it works amazingly well. Bummer about the kosas concealer, I did hear critiques about their shade range after I made this video..I hope they can add more neutral shades. I noticed that the shade I got was a touch warmer than I liked too, but since it isn't a full coverage product it wasn't too noticeable.💞

Kate Smith I have the lightest Kosas concealer too. I also have more pink undertones but sometimes the bit of yellow helps tame some of the areas that get too pink. I hope they add some different undertones This lightest shade might not work in the summer and the the next 2-3 shades seemed much yellower when I swatched them.

I've found the peach & lily glass skin spray, amazing for dry patches. Just a few sprays on top of the area and watch as it helps melt everything to a smooth skin finish ( once you've applied your face & let it settle for a few minutes )

This was the comparison I needed. I love my Kosas oil but it definitely does cling to my dry patches. I’ve been eyeing the ilia and probably will pick it up. I got a sample packet of the Kosas concealer and I like the formula, but it’s too yellow. I could buy it and mix it with another concealer, but for the price...I swatched a couple shades in store and none of them really worked for me. I hope they release more shades.

Literally just bought kosas today and as soon as I tried it on I realized it made my dry patches more visible. Mind you I didn’t even know I had the dry patches😩 I’m going to exfoliate and try again.

Oh nooo! Yes it’s definitely finicky like that. If it doesn’t work out you might prefer returning and trying the ilia. Also priming with a heavier moisturizer helps! 💗

I just bought the Kosas Concealer yesterday!! I’ve only used it today ... with a (shocking) drugstore foundation that I have been loving ... the Wet & Wild Photo Focus Dewy. It looked great and wore well! I have samples of both the Ilia spf serum and the Kosas tinted oil. I liked the Ilia pretty well the one time I tried it. I tried the Kosas last night on one side of my face just to experiment and it was a no-go because I Have some peeling going on from a retinol!! It clung like crazy! 😳 I will try again when the peeling is done!! Loved the video!

Awe! Thank you! 😍💞 I haven't tried the wet and wild foundation but dewy sounds right up my alley...I'll have to check it out! I did try physician's formula's clean range and I liked the dewy effect but the coverage was a little on the sheer side for me. Yes the kosas does not play nice with dry patches..glad you were able to get a sample! Once your skin has rebalanced I would try applying it with the beauty blender (I find its less likely to cling as much when applied that way).

The Lisa’s looks like it covers better but I really appreciate that you zoomed in because I have super sensitive dry skin so that would not work for me. Does Ilia have a foundation for dry skin that covers more than light? I’m 46 with some rosacea so I need to cover that but don’t want those dry patches that makeup makes me have

Jesse Sánchez oh nooo 😭 I would recommend priming with a rich moisturizer and then spreading it with a beauty blender. It might work for you! Everyone is different. If it doesn’t you can always return and grab the ilia 😘

i think you should use the dermalogica daily microexfoliant! i used to have the same dry patches under my eyes and on my nose but after using that and the belief moisturizing bomb i havent had that problem!

I absolutely LOVE the Ilia skin tint also the Ilia foundation & the serum concealer. I HATE the Kosas oil. Saying it clings to dry patches is an understatement. You'll find dry patches you didn't even know about. The kosas concealer I have that should be my shade is so yellow too but it does wear well. I really wanted to love Kosas. In theory, I should. Ilia wins hands down for me.

It’s funny you spoke about the ilia regarding dryness and not having an issue, because I actually found that the ilia cling to my dry patches and it’s my main complaint of the product. I like it overall and I wore it today and did not get sunburned so I had good coverage and sun protection but def cling to dry patches for me. Maybe I should be applying it differently? I use my hands.

I suggest doing a light exfoliation before application. If it’s still an issue, use little globs of moisturizer and place them on the little dry patches for a bit

This was a great video with fairly thorough comparison and contrast between the products. I put a drop of the Ilia serum on my hand and after a couple of minutes that patch was so soft! I’m still finishing an old Laura Mercier TM as the Kosas did not work for me. Do you have any foundation you mix the serum with? As I like to cover the redness/hyperpigmentation on my face 😅

Mixing the ilia into foundations for added hydration is a great idea! If you're looking for a clean foundation with very full coverage I'd look into sen organics (kind of reminds me of the original fenty foundation). It mixes beautifully with the ilia serum and I'll be talking about that brand in a future video. 💞

Do you think you could use the Kosas concealer on dry skin where you have blemishes? Or would you think it would cling to the dry patches? I have textured and blemish prone chin so would love to but a concealer that helps cover that x

Totally! In my experience it wasn't clinging to dry patches at all which was great. The ilia is slightly more emollient but for acne I'd go with the kosas because it gives a fuller coverage✨

What about coverage on the nose, separation and dry patches on the tip of the nose? Usually thats my problem area with foundations.

I would say that the kosas would be most likely to separate due to its texture. In general I find a silicone primer helps a lot 🥰

Is the ilia super serum skin tint similar to the glossier skin tint?

Bella Mays they are definitely similar but I’d say that the glossier skin tint is a little bit less dewy and is sheer coverage and not buildable while the ilia is light coverage but could be built to medium ☺️

Good info, thank you! Do you have a cool, warm, or neutral undertone? I noticed that you used a warm undertone in Ilia, and a cool undertone in Kosas.

Karen Cutler good eye! I bought a shade up in the Ilia because I bought it during the summer and wanted a little more warmth. My perfect shade would probably be 4 or 5 in the ilia instead of the 6. Hope that helps! My undertone is olive/neutral 😊

Thank you for your reviews, I've been following you for a quick minute and love all the information! I have combo skin and plan to purchase the ilia skin tint since it seems to be the perfect match for my everyday low-maintenance look. What are your thoughts for priming/setting? I sweat easily and sometimes that causes my makeup to melt a bit but I prefer to keep things light/dewy.

Awe yay so glad you found my videos helpful! I would say that a primer in the t zone wouldn’t be a bad idea. Something like the Fenty primer or any oil control primer would work. I also wouldn’t be afraid to set your face in the areas where you sweat more easily, your natural oils will prevent the makeup from looking too flat even if you set it. If you’re still worried you can set your face with a setting spray after you powder to keep the dewy look but also add an extra step to set your face further. Thanks so much for watching ✨☺️

Hi! I really enjoyed this review, and am planning to pick up the skin tint at some point (once we're out of lockdown and I go out in public!). I'm curious about the shades and wondered what shade you are in different foundations? You seem to have a similar colouring to me, but I looked at shade ST 6 and it looks quite dark on the website. Have you ever tried the Jane Iredale bb cream? Or Bare Minerals? Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks for watching I’m glad it was helpful ✨ sorry for the confusion..I don’t know if the camera picks it up but my face is about a shade lighter than my neck so I usually end up choosing a warmer shade and blending down. In the store shade 4 and 5 matched my face (4 was neutral and 5 had a bit more warmth) in bare minerals I’m shade birch 1.5 in their tint, hope that helps! ☺️

No I just picked up the 3.5 because the 3 wasn’t available and I wanted it quickly. I would go with the same shade you get in the tint especially as the concealers run a bit yellow

Hello miss Sarah, I’m a teenager with normal/dry skin I occasionally get a pimple or a small break out I have a couple questions because I’ve been wanting to use those products I got color matched at Sephora so I’m just trying to figure out what tint and concealer to purchase is the ilia tint good for just like evening out skintone or would it cover a small pimple? And would the kosas and ilia do good with powder because I need powder where I live if not I step outside and it melts off lol -Thank you for your time

Hey! I have the same issue and I’ve been using the Ilia Skin tint. Honestly, it doesn’t cover up pimples fully but it lessens the look of it. I’ve been have some pretty bad hormonal acne, and the skin tint WITH (Ilia or Kosas) concealer has made my skin look so much better. I also use the Kosa’s cloud setting powder with it. It’s a combination I recommend, since I have a similar skin type

I do have one more question if you don’t mind?, like when I’m not breaking with some hormonal pimples does it even out the skin tone enough for your liking? because even when I don’t have a lot of pimples it’s still I little red like by my nose and cheeks. -Thank you very much

@@TheVintageCajun Yep! My forehead is darker than my cheeks and it makes my skin look even and natural. I’m sure it’ll cover up your redness as well! As for the redness in pimples, it’ll show through a little bit.

asterismxx Awe thank you and thanks for watching? Sephora actually announced an extended return policy due to coronavirus closures so that’s also a plus! I believe the shade 3.5 was a warmer yellow shade when compared with shade 3..hope that helps 🥰
