Kosciuszko NP - The Main Range Track 

A clockwise circuit of the Main Range walk from Charlotte pass.
Spring 2023 #9 : Charlotte pass - Mt Kosciuszko - Carruthers peak - Charlotte pass.
Distance : Probably 22 km with short cuts provided by snowfields.
Walking conditions : Tracks and snowfield crossings. The Main range track is a fully graded pathway, with drains, steps, stone pavings and a raised metal grill. The trip involves an alpine crossing where the elevation remains above 2000 metres for a distance of about ten kilometres.
The snowdrifts on Muellers peak and Mt Northcote are sometimes difficult to cross.
Notes : An ambient video of a trip along the Main Range, using images and music. The snow conditions on this trip were more suggestive of early summer rather than spring, due to the light winter snowfalls. The road to Charlotte pass was opened a week early, making this walk in late September possible.
