I finally do my 50 hour service on my Kubota BX23s, a tad late at 59 hours. Terrible little how to on what is done at 50 hours. Also a little update on what I've been up to with the tractor including my great deal of a brush mower and a little wood chipper action.

From a dummy in Queensland Australia, great info and thanks for the idea to remove the back wheel. I was rushing and did something dumb which I won't talk about because I don't want people to know that I tried to use the mid pto mower without coupling up the PTO shaft resulting in smashing the transmission filter and a flood of transmission fluid all over the ground with immediate loss of hydraulics and I also had the FEL and Backhoe on so changing the oil was made far easier by removing the back wheel as you demonstrated. Cheers

My tie rod boot is torn as well. I just got through doing a hydro fluid change and had a small amount of metal shavings on the screen. I didn’t have the RTV on any of my previous cleanings. Good information you are sharing! Thanks!

Glad to see someone else having similar results with their machine. My transmission screen wasn't quite as bad as yours but it had some metal shavings which I guess is normal. My front axle was low around 20 hours so I had to fill it up some. And I just recently realized that my left front inner tie rod boot is torn. Nothing major but there is obviously a design flaw with those boots. I guess there's an aftermarket boot kit to buy but it's not from kubota.

Yep, seems like everything is common across the board on these. The axle makes sense to me as I’m guessing it probably doesn’t get too far off camber before we get them so it fills in to pockets in the axle once it sees more extreme angles. The screen is supposed to mainly be a one time thing on the first flush. And the boots are just junk. But all in all the thing has done fine for me so no real complaints, just some quirks.

Rockin deal on the hog. Nice chipper too. I personally prefer the manual feed, that chipper doesn't seem to pull in the branches as violently as one I own from HF. The manual feed is easier on the smaller tractor and less hydraulic work required (none). I bought a self powered 8hp chipper just before I picked up my 2006 B7800, wish I could do it over, but I got a 1/2 price deal on the 8hp HF chipper (it was a return). The self powered rides around in the FEL bucket nicely and can dump into the bucket or over the side, which makes it handy for clean up work around the property. Quicker to get in action for small jobs too, just roll it in the bucket with the saw and drive to the downed tree. It doesn't owe me anything, but if I found a deal on a bigger PTO driven model, I'd probably go for it. Just did a full service less valve lash on the B7800 (510hrs) and it had a couple large aluminum chips in the trans screen that looked like manufacturing chips, not wear. It was clean other than that, I'm pretty sure it had never been out as the paint on the hex was not marked. I almost skipped over it myself, on the B7800 it's quite hidden, I have the Kubota service manual from Messicks and it was very unclear as to it's location. Thanks to YT, I discovered it's part of a banjo bolt on a return line. Good luck with your machine, that's a nice setup you've got there.

Seeing that screen makes me want to check mine lol

Haha. I agree, that's what made me want to get it done on mine. Appears that some stay clean and some are even more plugged up than mine was.

At 50 hrs my BX2680 only had 2 small pieces of RTV on the screen. My dealer recommended UTD not UTD2. I worked the machine hard for the first 50 hrs.

Glad I saw this. Go figure, one more issue. I just checked my diff oil and it is bone dry. Apparently, the dealership doesn't even know that oil goes in there.

From what I understand is they have air pockets that don't get filled until the tractor is put into use with varying angles of terrain, so they show full when they are delivered or pdi'd. From most people that I talk to their dealer will usually give them the necessary amount of oil for free if they ask.

Just checked the operators manual hydraulic oil is to be changed at 200hrs just the filter is needed to be changed at 50 hrs.. Thanks Mate
@LostCauseRanch
@LostCauseRanch 2 года назад
That is correct, I'm not sure if I mentioned that in the video or not. But I changed it because of the amount of sealant that seems to come up on most of the filters on these the first time cleaning. Was more of a piece of mind thing to me.

Mine uses coolant as well I swear I can smell it in the exhaust coming out I have no leaks worked for Chevy for 25years on there diesels I know what coolant smells like when engine is burning it bringing in for warranty work see what they say they never checked it on the pdi and the front diff was 2.5 qts low on fluid I would check yours just to be safe
@LostCauseRanch
@LostCauseRanch 3 года назад
I did my front diff during this as well. Just under a qt. low. My brother's bx2380 was about 1.5 qts low. Seems to be a broad issue.

Any issues with warranty running the spacers?
@LostCauseRanch
@LostCauseRanch 3 года назад
I imagine if they could attribute the failure to the spacers that could present an issue. I can't imagine most dealers raising too much of a gripe over it, but worse case scenario you could just remove them before bringing it in for service.

Fuel filters at 100hrs the dealership told me service transmission oil at 400hrs along with the screen UDT2 3gallons.
@LostCauseRanch
@LostCauseRanch 3 года назад
I figured for how cheap the fuel filters were it wouldn't hurt for me to do them early while I was in there.

@@LostCauseRanch ya I had some water and crap in mine was nasty poor design on their part they should of put a bowl or something to get water out after I get out of warranty I'm gonna put a bigger filter on an eliminate that dinky thing took me 20 minutes to change it couldn't get the dam skid plate off they really torqued the crap out of those bolts lol.

If you title a video as 50 hour service would be nice to actually see the 50 hour service. You talk forever before getting to it and then the camera placement is so poor when you do get to it that the video is useless
