Kubota BX Series Overview | BX1880 BX2380 BX2680 BX23s 

I only have an acre. I bought a BX2680 because I knew I'd be doing a lot of PTO type work and the extra margin of PTO Horsepower was far more important than a ridiculous $9,000+ backhoe with less Horsepower. For that $9k I could rent a mini-excavator for the once or twice a decade I ever want to dig a trench. I don't have a rotary cutter yet, however its on the short list of items I need, as well as a flail mower...both of which are going to require some HP. I do have the 60" mid mount mower which works great, and I've used it for a couple of 1/2 acre mowing jobs with 3 foot tall weeds and grass and it did great, couple spots it even bogged down a little which tells me it probably would have stalled the 2380 and definitely would have stalled the 1880. The 1st job I did was pretty rough, so I used the 4WD a couple times to keep from getting stuck. Yeah I could have used my lawn tractor for both jobs, but the first one would have taken much longer due to getting stuck in gopher holes all the time, where with the 4WD I just kept on going. The loader will lift around 500lbs in reality and much less if you don't have any rear ballast, at about 380lbs between the roto tiller and pallet the tractor won't lift it at all without ballast on the 3 point. Great small tractor for small places....I've found a bit of a niche area in my town because all the guys out there doing "tractor" work for side jobs can't get into a lot of places with their big fancy high horsepower tractors, where the little Kubota everyone makes fun of will squeeze through some very tight spaces, at least a 48" gate, it'll fit just fine. There's so much that these tractors can do, they're mostly limited due to their lack of weight...you run out of traction typically before you run out of power. If I were buying a tractor again, I'd still go with the Kubota. Even though I've only had my tractor for just under a year, it hasn't let me down, I recently did the 50 hour service on it, which is very easy, just plan for several hours to get it done right, I changed all the fluids and filters while I was at it and switched to the UTD-2 hydraulic fluid, seems that quieted the hydrostatic whine down a little bit as well. I could have got the B-series, but its a little larger in length and width and wouldn't have fit in my barn where I need it to, the BX has turned out to be perfect for my needs.

I purchased a new bx1880 back in April. We recently built a new log home and we had about 1.5 acres that needed 4-5" of fresh top soil as well as some grading. The 1880 handled it great. I still have about another 1/2 acre behind the home to grade and add top soil and seed. But I'll do it next spring.
