I love how the 500 has that slower rev it just sounds like a race bike. but I also love how fast the 250 revs up it sounds great. I just love all two strokes lol. even my fucking weed eater sounds good to me 😂
@@sandrisspalis9393 absolutely if you have even thye SLIGHTES IDES of how to use the clutch and make the rpms dance with it in sync. OR: you coul by those CHEAP Extra weight pieces that you can install easily onto y7our flywheel. More spinning mass youhave on the mmotor whenn its running. the harder t is to stall and boom, now its wayyy easier to ride over logs and whatevs i da woods... but make sure you eventually learn to do it properly without the added weights
Hello RAYDERS fun time with these wonderful machines, either one is to enjoy the sound, the speed, the power, congratulationssa greetings, your friend Oscar.
if you've never ridden a two stroke motorcycle, i can assure you the amount of torque and power it generates is a very wild feeling compared to modern 4 strokes and they tend to have the chunkiest power bands for an engine of it's size... it is an amazing riding experience and feels twice as fast as it should be ( like riding a 500cc = 1000cc) i absolutely love them, i know they're not great for the environment at all and good lord do they do things like chew through spark plugs and piston rings... but maybe one day they can make a comeback as recreational vehicles when our power plants and average daily vehicles have turned to something a lot better for our environment so our planet can handle a little bit more of these fun machines dancing around it's edges.
I own 250 -07 but mad respect for the notorious 500. Damn that thing would be illegal in every possible way if released today! Real 90's action when shit just got simply done. The 500 just don't give a fuck.
in late 80 -90 > they were like normal to motocross i think.. epic power trq, insane top speed etc..the kickstarting isnt for anyone :D but some people uses somekind of lower pressure system in cylinder head.
My brother had a 1984 kx 500 & his bestfriend had a 1986 kx 250 we used to ride @ Pt Gawler on the sand flats & the 250 would be almost up with the 500 till we hit top gear and then the 500 would pull away & leave the 250 behind.
damn y'all are lucky, that looks like a great place to hang out and ride,i would take the 500 any day of the week.BRAAAAAP great video sounded awesome from TEXAS
I think the kx500 is million times better but the distance in the race is too short for the 500, kx 500 in the 1,2,3 gear give so much tonque with the result of spinning and sometimes let the 250 go first. give me your opinions!
Mercenary EX in theory a 500 2 stroke would be a really good race bike for both straight line drag races and mx. But in reality they are too static and planted to the ground to throw them around like let’s say a modern 250. also the vibrate like a damn vibrator.
Had an older air cooled kx500,and it left me hanging in mid air so many times...allways thought my clutch was slipping at about 70 mph on fireroads, but then realised it was just spinning the rear. Fastest dirt bike I ever had and scary as HELL.
I love both bike.the 2 stroke is a screamer both for power and sound effects.sadly todays emission standards will restrict the cc to a ridiculousl amount.
Great video. Longer distance and we would see how the 500 will really pull away from the 250. I cant wait to do the restoration on my KX500. They are a blast to ride. It feels like you are getting shot out of a slingshot when roll on the throttle.
I agree they are so blast to ride.. + the trq and overall power i like the 'old school feeling' = Back to the late 80s/early 90s.. haha :) good luck for restoration yor KX500.
I here you. I have a 1985 CR250 and a 1985 CR500 i am restoring. Hopefully i will still have both when they are fully restored and i will do some head to heads
Once you have owned and mastered any of the 500s you wont go back to anything less Nothing beats the bottom end grunt and drive of a 500 from any of the manufacturers Addictive !!!!
How long until you die though? Before you master the 500 thumper? I know I push myself on any bike that is an instant testosterone bump like the 500, I would have to write my will before getting on something like this.
J Mas had one. Loved it. However, you didn’t ride it. You point it at obstacles and blip the throttle and it’s over in a blink. Retarded fast. My KX500 would destroy the 250 and 500 in this video. I dynoed mine and we had 61hp at the wheel. Crazy power.
A accurate drag race would be on blacktop. I had a yz490 and would race my sons rm125 in the dirt and was always a close race. The 490 would leave a trench behind me. On blacktop it was like a top fuel racing a Honda.
Yeap...... the 250 is better and faster 90 percent of the time. The 500 only really came out ahead with a paddle and miles of dunes. Butt, and this is a big BUTT..... The KX500 is one of those bikes I wish I still had. I see hundreds of 250s but only a handful of the 500s remain. It is an iconic bike of times past.
with the 500 it's not the guy who drives the bike but the bike who drives the guy with the two fifty a little bit too..but they are some balls to ride with this monster.
Hey not sure what city you guys are riding in but it sure looks like fun I wish somebody would give me more than one suggestion to ride my dirtbike in other than Gorman California
They want you to make you think that it is a tie of somewhat but if the 500 could get the power to the ground it will be all over plus the 500 is got to be funner both seem like a blast
A two stroke engine is simple no cams of valves or any of that bullshit the engine instead has intake and exhaust ports in the lower half of the cylinder at 10,000rpm the spark plug ignites 166 times per second. As I said there is no valves controlling the cycle of exhaust of intake cycles so as the compression stroke is happening some mixture just gets pushed straight put into the exhaust/expansion chamber and after a lot builds up it gets pushed back into the cylinder from the increase of volume a second and that my friend is called the power band that supercharged the engine with the explosive power... 2 stroke for Life 😊😊😊
What ever you do plz just keep the 500 singing for as long as you possibly can. Those bikes are so awsome and you don’t find very many of em. What a clean bike I’d might add. Pin it to win it cheers from Oklahoma👍🏻😊
