Kyle Petty consistently calling out intentional wrecks for 9 minutes and 30 seconds straight

A montage of Kyle Petty calling out drivers for causing intentional wrecks over the years, many times arguing in favor of harsh punishments and extended suspensions relative to the penalty that was actually handed down by NASCAR. Whether you agree or disagree with his take in any of these situations, you have to appreciate his consistency and willingness to always say what he feels and tell it like it is. Hopefully, this will also show that people within the sport have been calling for suspensions for similar offenses long before Bubba Wallace's move on Kyle Larson this past Sunday.

Here's the thing about all this. In all of NASCAR, there is but *one* family name that is respected above *all* others. *Petty.* Being the son of the King, I think that what Kyle says will largely be looked at with more attention by NASCAR top brass. Had this been King Richard *himself,* that's a whole 'nother animal. Any rule King Richard would suggest would *probably* be adopted by NASCAR immediately.

Kyle Petty knows all about being a dip shit driver. He almost killed Davey Allison on the last lap of the 92 Winston All-Star crossing the the Start finish line and dumping Dale Earnhardt Sr in turn 4 of the same lap. Or in 96 at Charlotte when he wrecked Ted Musgrave cause he was mad he wasn't scored the 1st car 1 lap down causing a multi car wreck too which Nascar penalized him 5 laps for aggressive driving

I have major respect for Petty calling out the Kenseth and Logano incident for what it was. Intentional wrecking has no place in our sport. Hearing Kyle Petty say it makes the sport look like a joke around the water cooler on Monday gave me chills. It feels like NASCAR in its entirety is a joke nowadays, and maybe we as fans did it to ourselves. By supporting drivers not giving respect on track, no give on superspeedways, no driving for second, only to win. The points system and the on track etiquette have ruined the racing culture and the Bubba incident only brings that fact into the spotlight once more.

Kyle couldn't race like his dad or grandad could, but he's mostly had a level head. He admits when he's done something dumb and owns it. And he has had the SAME OPINION for more than 15 years on things as an analyst and commentator on events seen. I wasn't ever a Kyle fan as a driver, but He's got my respect as an analyst. I have to say I agree with him FOR THE MOST PART. I think Bubba should have gotten a 2 race suspension because of the 1) intentional wreck and 2) safety violation of walking onto the track. the physical altercation for me is here nor there, fights happen at tracks nation wide. some involve the county cops. some don't. Hell, we've all wrecked someone on purpose ONCE out of anger on the track if we've done it long enough. And its always happened to us at least once if we've done it long enough. That doesn't make it right, it is just a reality of people being people and having the passion to stand up for themselves, right or wrong or somewhere in that gray area. But the right rear hook is NEVER okay. Driver door shots are NEVER okay. Fine, move him up the track or give him a firm shot under yellow to say "I'm kinda pissed off at you" but you DO NOT right hook a driver. Jeff wrecking Clint I wasn't happy to see, and I'm a Jeff fan. Matt knocking out Joey, though, I was happy to see -- still not right, but I was still happy to see a little payback. I do believe Kyle Petty has this one right. And I do believe the owners need to own it also. Owners points should have been docked as well. Hard racing is hard racing. There was no contact between Larson and Wallace that forced Wallace into the wall. Wallace reacted and put his own car into the wall. Then Christopher Bell is collected, then Wallace walks across a hot track, then attacks Larson and repeatedly pushes him, then he pushes an AMR Official. I can bet his sponsor McDonald's isn't "Bud em bup bop bah I'm Lovin It" seeing their driver wearing the Golden Arches hunting down and attacking people. I wasn't impressed, nor would I be if it was any driver. I wasn't impressed with Keselowski, Edward's, Kenseth, Harvick, Hamlin, Hosavar, or anyone who has done this. The only thing I would have liked to have seen in this case would have been Jimmy Spencer or Ryan Newman in place of 135 pound Kyle Larson being pushed around and I think a bigger lesson would have been learned that day.

I've done stull like this before when I was active on twitter, facebook etc. I've long left those platforms, but... I have learned one very important thing. You can honestly show this on every social media platform in the cosmos, the people that need to see this will either not watch, not care or both. Their mind is already made up and their positions are not coming from a point of logic, but emotion. Because of that, they can't allow anything to shatter their world view. Essentially, the facts do not matter. Us logical folks will always appreciate this, but you'll never reach those illogical ones. They'll just hate-comment, dislike and move on. You may even get reported like some other RU-vidrs have. I've had a few conversations on videos and community posts about this, but either the video or post were suddenly removed for "community guideline violations".

Kyle has been banging this drum for years (as we see in this video), but NASCAR has been SO inconsistentl...that it HAS become a joke. I like that they parked him for ONE race, but they should've ALSO fined him. Possibly taken away driver points. Don't feel they should punish the team. They DEFINITELY did not want him to do what he did. But ONLY suspending him for ONE race was a light punishment. At least two weeks suspension IF there was not other penalties. He's got to learn that this is not acceptable. He really needs to take Anger Management courses. He's GOT to reign it in. Love the passion and I love Bubba, but this needs to stop. If it wasn't for Christopher Bell getting wrangled into this...Kyle Larson would've backed up into the wall going 160+ plus. That is bad news. That might of ended his season...possibly hurting him enough that it could've effected th 2023 season. Won't go as far as Joey Lagono, but maybe even his livelyhood...as a race car driver. Just my opinion. Great collection of clips. Thanks.

I absolutely get where the folks saying he should have been fined and docked points on top of it are coming from, but I do think a suspension sends a much stronger message. By sitting out a race, the points take care of themselves, and when you have as much sponsorship and corporate backing as the 23XI team does, I'm not sure a fine is much of big deal to Bubba and the team either. Bubba's wears his heart on his sleeve, and that's great. But you're right, last Sunday crossed a line and you simply cannot do what he did.

He should have been fined also. $20K for not obeying track officials direction and $50K for ending Bell's championship hopes. The purpose is to cause him to change his behavior, not give him a week off to rest up and see what other commotion he can cause. NASCAR did themselves nor Bubba any favor by letting him of easy.

Also, it's very much possible Bell goes out and wins one of the next two races, so while his title hopes have certainly taken a hit, I think it's a bit early to say he "ended" them (not defending the incident at all, obviously, just saying, you never know with this format).

@@bcschneider53 1 day suspension is NOTHING. It's simply a way for NASCAR to say they did something when they wussed out. If it was the rest of the year, that would have been better but ultimately, a monetary fine would have much more impact and the fines would be associated to each individual psychotic act this troubled young man performed for the national viewing audience.. The 1 day suspension will be completely ineffective in changing Bubba's behavior.

Kyle forgot how Ryan Newman wrecked Kyle Larson off the last corner in Phoenix in 2014 to secure his place in the championship 4. Nascar created that scenerio just like Harvick wrecked Bayne at Talledega when he had a missing cylinder. If they sat out Newman for that intentional wreck, they would have sat out one of their Championship 4 drivers for the Championship race. That had championship implications. Newman bodyslammed Larson in the wall and took Jeff Godron's spot in the championship.
