I'm glad you enjoyed it. Don't let the speed deceive you, these videos are heavily edited for time. The tactics are real, and the encounters are (generally) accurate presentations of what happened, but the recording time is usually 3x longer than the final video. One of my biggest complaints about Actual Play shows is that DnD is generally slow to watch, and I wanted to fix that as much as possible.

@@d20tactics I definitely agree. DnD combat is incredible slow no matter what tips and tricks you employ. I think you struck a great balance editing these videos, where they both feel punchy in terms of tactical considerations and speed or flow of combat. I would like some narration for the helpful additional tips though and maybe a deep dive into options at any given moment from the perspective of certain classes. Like: playing optimal cleric: scenario and option analysis. Just spitballing stuff I'd like to watch you guys do. Thanks again for the great work.

@@ebrahimnaeem757That's a really good idea. It seems like it might be tough to implement, since there are practically limitless options for what you could do in a given situation, so the question becomes "How do you trim the list of options down to a top three?" I doubt that we always have the best tactic in mind in any given situation, so how helpful is it to have numbers 2 through 4 of that list displayed? Might be more confusing. Also, different tactics can be better or worse depending on the goal, so one might make the list with one goal in mind and not make it with another. I think the comment section could be an effective solution for this, people can suggest things that we didn't think of and then discuss them. Good ideas can get picked up and tried next time, or if they have already been tried, they can be linked to.

​@@d20tactics You're right implementation of that idea is tough. Although one issue that I've noticed a lot of new players run into is not knowing their class options all too extensively. I think one objective metric, and certainly one that most people will agree with on a baseline level is Damage per Round. DPR can be a good measure of whether people are making the most out of their abilities, spells, and tactics. You can further divide the choices you recommend as: highest DPR overall, highest DPR + utility, highest DPR + ally healing. However, I have to say that what I was proposing certainly sounds like A LOT of work on your end. Because you'd have to simulate battles probably and calculate DPR and weigh the options mechanically. So it might not be something you can justify putting that much time and effort into. But I love the vibe of your channel and hope you continue to grow. Thanks for hearing me out.

I'm glad you are enjoying them, we've seen an uptick in views lately, but RU-vid works in mysterious ways. The images that you see are displayed on Gnu Image Manipulation Program (GIMP), captured using Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) and shared with the other players using Discord. Audio is captured using Audacity, and everything is edited on Shotcut.

I'm not sure which "extra chains" you are referring to. The Chain Devils have a Animate Chain action that allows them to make attacks with chains that "aren't being worn or carried," which applied to zero chains in this encounter. A better prepared encounter would have environmental chains that the Chain Devils could use. I picked out the monsters, then picked out the map, then read the fine print on the ability and realized that they couldn't use the ability.
