40:17 This is the kind of thing i am always relieved to hear, i hate the thought of a beautifully crafted car rotting away in someone's garage as a display piece. a car is meant to be driven, it is in my opinion an insult to the engineers and designers who worked to create a spectacular machine for their creation to become a 'bonsai' as you put it. no matter how rare or special a car is it deserves to be driven and enjoyed to the fullest.
@cybercityoedo808
@cybercityoedo808 4 года назад
Agreed, a driven car is better than one with low mileage that sat in a garage for 20 years. Rubber/hoses and gaskets need to go through regular heat cycles or things get brittle.

@separator94 4 года назад
Great video. Her RX-7 is really nice. I like everything about it. She obviously has great taste. RX-7's were always my personal favorite import car. I've only owned one before. It was an FC model (1986, red, naturally aspirated, 5-speed manual) and I had it for 3 years in my early 20's. I did some mods to it including a full exhaust, shot ram air intake, Nology ignition setup, short throw shift kit, carbon fiber hood, and replaced the bulky, engine mounted fan with a radiator mounted electric one that saved weight and added another 10hp or so. After all was said and done I was only running around 330bhp on 93 octane, but with all the weight I saved from the carbon fiber hood, having no turbo, no rear seats (it actually came with them but they were useless so I took them out), no power stearing, no engine mounted fan and only having that tiny 1.3L engine, it was a lot faster than it looked. It was faster than the more common sports cars around my area at the time, which were mostly Mustang's, Camaro's, WRX's, Cobalt SS's, Grand Pre GTP's, Focus SHO's and stuff like that. It took off like a rocket and was easy to kick the rear end out and do controlled drifts with. Its handling was also great because of its near 50/50 weight distribution. It easily had the best driving experience of any car I've owned so far (including my current, modded 2010 WRX hatch). If anyone out there is on the fence about getting an RX-7, I say go for it. They are amazing cars and you'll learn a lot from them. Just do your homework before getting one because they are unique and there's a lot to know if you've never owned one.

Beautiful car. I seriously think it's one of the most beautiful cars ever made, only cars from the 60s when it was all about design and not aerodynamics can compete. And while the engine isn't that reliable there's nothing else like it, these unique characteristics just make you look past it's problems. And btw, this FD got very cool owner. I respect very much that she actually drives the car. These icons of the 90s deserve to be driven and seen on the streets. I'm a bit guilty of garage queening my cars, but i still try to take them for a ride from time to time.

Easily one of the most beautiful car designs from Japan. All rx7s imo but especially 3rd Gen. there is nothing like it. I miss them.

NSU Wankel Spider was the first production car in 1963 with a rotary engine...the Mazda 110 S Cosmo Sport built from 1967-1972 was in fact the first with 2 rotors.

Just a small thing I wanted to point out for fact's sake. The C5 Corvette, which was the last corvette model to have pop-up headlights ran until 2004, so technically that makes the Corvette the last production car to have pop-up headlights of the 21st century.

When I was younger my family didn't have very much money. I was very fortunate when i got passed down a game cube from my cousin. One of the games that was with it was need for speed underground 2 . I used to rip around in the mazda rx8 because i loved the sound of the car and it handled really well. As the years went on i became more and more of a car guy but the rx8 was still always my dream car. Fast forward to 2019 and i was able to afford and purchase my dream car. A 2008 RX- 8 40th Anniversary that i named "Anna". Its the most amazing car and i love it, but just like every car guy it doesn't matter if you own your dream car theirs always a next dream car. I hope one day to afford an 99-02 spec RX7 once they become available in the states. I absolutely love the rotary engine and the excellent cars chassis that came with them. I am really sad to see them go. :(

See, it's cool stuff like this here I wished we had gotten here in the states! Those lines are sexy, and we'll thought out! It screaming out to be driven! Vehicle's like this really makes me want to visit Japan just to check out the car scene. We get cool stuff here in the states, but it's nice to see something that you ordinarily aren't able to see riding around in our streets.

We do have the RX-7, in the state, and there is the 2000 to 2001 mirage that can be modified to it. Remember thst USA is into classic and muscle cars.

Only 500 rx7s were sold in '95. So, Mazda was like "screw it" and that's why we never got this, the Bathurst r or the spirit r, Same thing with the Nissan s14. We did it to ourselves.

@@marquaviouschester6947 I think it's a little bit more to it. Emissions has always been a huge part in what we can get imported

@@bryancenterfitt7127 the emissions part is pretty dumb since there's DIESELS hovering around the us and blowing soot out of exhaust pipes like a train. So, polluting diesels are ok, but normal sports cars are not? That's a great idea

correction; the first rotary engined production car was the NSU Prinz, made in '59. and the reason behind the popularity of popups is because there was a height regulation for headlights, so sportscars had to have popups, otherwise the lights would be placed too low.
