I lived in Ambleside from 2009 - 2014 and would cycle this exact route on my Intense Tracer VP, but you are a much smoother rider. I miss the lakes but work takes you where you make a living, and this vid has made my day, my week, my month .. seeing it again .. Its lit up my face watching all these turns .... feels like if I close my eyes I can also follow your path :)
Just catching up on your channel after seeing your Coed Y Brenin vid. Not ridden in the Lakes for a number of years, these will get me back there for sure. Will walk and ride up there in '21 all being well/allowed !!
This looks awesome. I recognise some sections but I defo want to do the whole thing after the lockdown ends. It cracked me up when you pulled out the "Shrimps & Bananas", that's what me and my mate always take with us for big rides, I thought we were the only ones!
Shrimps and bananas 😂😂. This ride has all the best bits the lakes has to offer. You will love it. Also as good is the coniston water ride. A must for any mountain biker
Great routes on your strava and vids, just followed you on Strava... awesome routes for me to get back into mountain biking, also looking at potential gravel bike routes to 😉👍🍺🍺
Great video. Route added to this years to do list. I'll probably make a few days out of it by camping in Hawkshead and do a Parkamoor, Seathwaite and Walna Scar Road loop on the other day.
hello Andy, love to watch your videos, very nice. The last week of April we come from the Netherlands to Scotland (number of the 7 stanes) and England (lake district) for mountain biking, This route is also on our program 😊 looking forward to our trip, greetings
Need to say that I have probably watched all your video in about a month..... Even my friends now they know you better than me.... Like a lot what you doing...... Keep it like this😊👌
Just found your channel and love it! A good ride in that locality that I've done a few times combines with some of the bridleways from another one of your videos. Start at Grizedale visitor centre, ride up into Grizdale East, down to the road, bridleway to Cunsey Bridge, then road to Far Sawrey, back up and then the downhill you climbed from Windermere, epic! Along the shore to High Wray then climb up to Long Height and down to Hawkshead. Bridleway back out of Hawkshead into Grizedale West, some of the NFT and techy bridleway descents back to the visitors centre. Basically anticlockwise but I think 23-24 mile if I can remember.
What a beauty of a run out brilliant Whish I could follow it on my phone as a navigation I'm on komoot, strava and trailforks but I'm not that tech-savy Thank you for sharing I live on the edge of the lake dis too I'll have to do some research and route planning
I used to use my phone. Then ended up getting a Garmin bike computer. Which was game changing. If you want to get into following routes that I do or others. I’d recommend getting one. Lots of vids on RU-vid showing how to download them. It’s not as hard as it may seem. I put gpx links in the description on all my vids. Plenty for you to get stuck into
@@TrailFinder thank you for the info, Yes I've been Looking into the Garmins I've just bought a new bike so I think I'll have to go off the cuff trail blazing until the funds top up again... Loving the videos you do Just watched the hamsterly and winlatter which are my local trail centers I often ride sections of the coast to coast route that being right on my door step upto the 9 standards them over to raven Seat into keld or to tan hill, it's good around here But don't to bore myself. I'm just wanting to explore the lake dis a bit more from the couple of vids I've seen of yours the routes look fantastic
Another nice vid pal. Can't beat Lake District mountain biking. Some very familiar trails there. This is the first footage I have seen of the Tilberthwaite path since they resurfaced it. That used to be an awesome techy trail and they have completely flattened it :( Looked like you had a great day though.
I've done this route quite a few times, that descent on the tibberthwaite bit was absolutely awesome! I loved riding that... However they've completely sanitised it, spoilt it beyond words! 😓 Otherwise a brilliant ride
Got into your excellent channel recently .you enjoy exactly the same type of MTB ride as me so I have just followed you on Strava. Hope you don’t mind . keep up the great content . Respect and thanks , Joe
PACEUK22 thanks joe. And of course I don’t mind. I’ve actually allowed access for all to enjoy the same rides I do. I now also share trailforks and Garmin connect data 👊
Trail-Finder cheers dude. How do I find you on garmin ? It would be easier for me to download the courses on garmin connect. Seriously... your vids are pitched perfectly for MTB enthusiasts like me. They are well produced and your commentary gives a great insight into the rides and compliments the visuals well. Keep up the good work dude👊
If you look in the description on my latest video. You will see the link to Garmin connect. Just click through and see what you can do. Only just started with this. So not sure if you can follow me. But there is no need really as I will always add the Garmin link from now on
I love the Hawkshead descent. It was part of my last ride before the lockdown. The LH techie section where the trail splits at 10.37 is gone now though. Its full of topsoil and saplings. I was gutted when I saw that it had been sanitised.
@@TrailFinder Yeah, mine too! I got to the that point and just stood there blinking when I saw it was gone - I was really upset. I know they've got to the preserve the trails from erosion, but that section was pretty much bedrock. Anyway, I'm really enjoying your videos. They're keeping me going through the lockdown!
Dave Bull I plan my routes mostly from OS maps. Takes me a while to plan this stuff and check that it’s ok. But you don’t have to mess around Dave. You can go to my Strava page and download the GPX file and ride it your self. You just have to be a Strava member to access this feature
Did this ride last week and loved it. I have to take my hat off to you, we did it on ebikes in the exact same time as you and we was f@cked. You must be really fit to do it on a 'normal' bike
Great vid & ride Andy.. .thx for effort of producing a good vid and sharing this ride which I hope to try out in 3 weeks with my son when we visit the lakes. Is there a place rather than Strava we can get all your. . gpx files for free...not all of use use strava. I realise I can follow the route on my phone using Strava, I just prefer to use my preferred app (ViewRanger} for that I'd need the. . gpx
Hi mate, cant make my mind up between this ride and dalby forest this weekend. Which is a better ride. Awesome vids btw n love u give access to your routes
ric hennessey i would always say the lakes ride. It’s great. But just checked the weather in both locations. And for this weekend I’d say it’s best to be sheltered in the forest because of the wind and possible showers. Up on those mountains in the lakes it will not be very nice with the wind. And thanks. My plan was always to give access to my rides for everyone to enjoy. Glad your enjoying watching
@@TrailFinder I checked the weather myself this morning n thought the same but that lakes ride looks mint . Let u know how I got on. Ever over rivington give us a shout
@@9004allen your welcome. Sorry the reply was a little late. Lots of people ask about parking. So future vids will have coordinates added to make it a little easier for everyone. Enjoy the ride. It’s fantastic
If you don’t know the area I’d say park in Ambleside. Then navigate your self onto the loop. The loop can be started from anywhere and not where I started. There a a few large public carparks in Ambleside
Trail-Finder found it after I posted comment 🤦🏻♂️thanks for getting back to me. Coming over from Isle of Man and trying to plot some rides. These videos are mega and helping a lot thanks for uploading
Sorry mate. No can do. But if you download the gpx links for this ride onto your phone or device. It will direct you just as good as I would. It’s a great ride. Enjoy
Thanks Andy, we ended up starting from Ambleside and did this yesterday - You forget to mention in your video the brutal road climb up to grasmere/rydal 😂 Great loop though mate 🤘🏻
I have no idea Louis. I guess you can’t please anyone. Although I do get thumbs down a few mins after I post a video. I don’t displaying the ratings anymore. So hopefully the sad people who are doing it get bored
