Lampshade 3D assembly with "string haul" method. Stained glass.

Lift a lamp into it's 3D position by making use of a string gang...
Use this technique when the lower edge of the lamp is curved or is scalloped and then a jig is of little help. This method is also forgiving of "not so flash" cutting skills, however that does not give you a licence to cut poorly a?

This was the most brilliant RU-vid video that I've ever seen. I loved watching the artist at work. What a craftsman! And yet, video actually makes me feel LESS confident about my ability to do what he did -- the labor and attention to detail are just astounding. Good luck to those who try to replicate his method!

This tutorial is really helpful! Thank you! :D I've just graduated as a glass painter and stained glass artist, but we skipped the 3D Tiffany technique, rather worked with lead came, to make windows. I received an order a week ago, to make some lampshades, so I panicked! :) But you saved me with this video! :D Thank you again!

Holy cow, I have never seen a big ass soldier bar like that. 41 and still learning something new every day. If you don't, you're not paying attention to life. 🤔😎😋
@karalnz
@karalnz 5 лет назад
I get them from a mill. This format of bar is used by plumbers / roofers who are sealing up sheet iron etc. I like them cos they are fat, once they have some heat in there, it melts nicely too, easy to use as delivery of solder to the bead is fast fast fast!....

I realize this is an old video, but I always come back to your content, because it's inspiring to see your skill in action. I've always had trouble when trying to tidy the bead, the solder ends up melting all the way to the bottom and out of the piece if I stay too long on it with the iron ( 80 watt weller model ). I can only find 50/50 solder here in my city.

I am so glad I found you. Maybe I've just not seen the techniques I've picked up from you but I think they're brilliant. Love the idea of putting window glass over a pattern, then assembling the project on top of the window glass using the pattern as a guide. Again, maybe I just haven't learned enough but what a great idea. And the string haul is out of this world. I do not like math (looking forward to your tutorial on making a pattern without math) and I was not looking forward to learning how to make a jig. The string haul method is outstanding. Can you tell I'm excited? It's because I just put the string haul method to use, just flipped my projected, tested the string haul and it's brilliant! Thanks so much!
