this is probably the most inspiring clip of anything i've ever seen. the fact that he isn't dead is mindblowing. like someone mentioned, if this doesn't touch a nerve with you, then you don't have a pulse. surviving and living a full life wasn't good enough, he won all those TDF in a row...wow.
thats what lifes about pushing yourself to the limit never never never never giving up , ive had cancer twice and was nearly finished but i never gave in and smashed the cancer twice out the back door, going to be cycling cross country this year 100miles 10,000ft of climb in under 12hrs, (live strong) alex from london
Sukhdeep Butty Firstly, he did cheat. Secondly, he adamantly denied it while taking endorsement $ and suing those who claimed he cheated. Lastly, he was a manipulative bully whose dark side was hidden from the public whilst he was a national hero.
@@sukhdeepbutty2399 Bullying any competition accusing them of doping while you dope yourself to the bone taking advantage of your disease to mask it it's part of the game?
This brings tears to my eyes. Whenever I pity myself too much for some pathetic reason I watch this clip and get things into perspective again. So inspirational. Love you Lance.
Great commercial...I had the same "problem" 2 years ago...Now I'm back to a normal life, but I see it with a different prospective... NEVER BACK DOWN, GUYS!!!
Lance Armstrong inspired me through out my own cancer battle I read his autobiography and it helped me to fight and is part of the reason I am able to say this today that I am 5 & half years free from breast cancer! Love you Lance keep up the great work you do LIVESTRONG!
I don't care what people say about him and doping. what he accomplished is one of the most inspirational stories ever. hard work and dedication can move mountains.
How can you respect someone who got his press people to spread rumours that his sports masseuse was a prostitute because she admitted Lance got her to cover up syringe marks. How is that about hard work and dedication?
holy shit...i have been looking for this commercial since it came out...i think that was over 4 years ago...thank you so much for uploading this video...i love lance
I've been looking for this commercial for a very long time. I remember first seeing it in 2004 and almost being moved to tears. Thank you for sharing this!
i find this haunting! its such an inspiring advert. i used a quote by armstrong at uni where armstrong se him said he could now look back at the way the cancer made him suffer and look back and "it felt like power". my work was on self reflection and how a once negative experience can become the fuel for such a positve life. some people will fight and still lose! but if we dont fight, we will never know!
Any man who is able to beat cancer, and still have the athletic performance that lance had, taking drugs or not, is fine by me. In Lance's case, it's more than fine it's amazing.
There is nothing that can beat human will, it is the only thing that can surpass anything, anything , never underestimate it, for it's our only true weapon
LIVESTRONG
i just finished treatment for testicular cancer you dont understand what we went through u wont understand why hes still my hero because u dont understand our lives
Is inspiring people through the medium of lies really a good thing. People who look back and think "I really looked up to him, but he's nothing but a cheating liar", aren't going to feel that great.
In June of 2009 my Father-in-law was diagnosed with leukemia. He was given 2 to 3 weeks of life. Before he started his fight against this disease I told him that he starting the biggest fight of his life for his life. We said to him we're here with you together, in this battle. And at moment I screamed at him in the waiting room your going to fight this Disease and when is over we want you to make sure that this F@#*cken Disease knows its been in a fight and it pick the wrong man to F*%ck with!!
I love great ackomplishments and Lance has made a bunch of them - including beating cancer. Doper or not - his victories were won against people wo were just as big dopers.
yeah but those other dopers just wanted to compete and be let alone... this guy on the contrary constantly bullied anyone who could threat his cheating roll and he took the cancer role as a hostage to morally impose his lies upon anybody that had any suspicion
What an idol! Haters will hate. If you've got enemies then it means that at some point in your life, you stood up for something. *Can't remember where this line is from though*
I definitely see your point as to how this could be offensive. Few people are lucky enough to beat cancer, and have the genetics to be a world champion athlete. Much of that is simply not in our control. However, his example can be a helpful by showing that many daunting circumstances can be overcome by determination and relentless hard work. Every time? Surely not. But as Wayne Gretsky said, "you miss 100% of the shots you don't take"
The cancer story is true and great and real. The cycling not so much. Many of us with cancer feel sorry for him. "It's not about the bike" and it isn't. He just made it that way.
Just replace the words 'diagnosed with testicular cancer' with 'systematicly cheated by means of EPO and blood doping throughout my career as a sports professional', and that's what the world needs to see
I myself don't believe any of the doping story's...and I don't even care if they would be true. He did what only very few people can, He kept hope even when all hope was lost, he kept fighting like he himself once said : When you think about it, what other choice is there but to hope? We have two options, medically and emotionally: give up, or Fight Like Hell. he will always be my Hero!
@john444978 who you know it from? was that in the news? or did you just make it up? show me the source? or did you know it from your underground investigation team that have pizza as their logo?
@deonvan. let us not misunderstand what im saying when i quote Tyler Durden, of course i dont just mean physical fights i.e man against man, that would be stupid, to "fight" means to rise to a challenge (physically or mentally) and resist against a force. this could be to fight for a qualification, fight for a job that you always wanted, i believe by the sounds of it you fight when on the field for your team, am i right? "we FIGHT for those inches" (Al Pacino, Any given sunday). Enjoy Brother.
To think that in this moment in his life he had never won a tour de france.....and not only would he be fighting just to live, but just 3 years later he would begin his journey to become the best cyclist in the world with 7 tour de france wins......It makes you think, did he always have it in him? It makes you think, DID you always have it in you??
I beleive it was actually 3-5% chance of living...as one of docs candidly told him years after he beat the disease. That in it of itself beleive it or not is not what makes so inspirational. living organisms dont come that close to decay and then go on to do what he did.
What do you mean he "beat" the disease? We got a chance at beating and we decide if we want to fight? That does mean that if I die from cancer I deserved because I didn't fight hard enough?
it's not making light of cancer, honestly, nike's messages relate to sports, they sell sporting goods, the point is that lance set his mind to do something in a situation where most people would give up on their passion this spot takes the stance that the average person knows he had cancer and knows he won the tour de frances after his recovery, but DID NOT know he made such a declaration before he even recovered from that perspective, its rather chilling
