Saskatchewan, Canada is home to incredible storms. During the summer months, these storms morph into supercells that make fantastic time-lapse subjects. The summer of 2021 had a slower summer storm season where Saskatchewan didn't record a tornado in July for the first time in many years. We saw a couple of really great late August storms that produced supercell structure and some of the time-lapse clips included in this film. Storms at the end of August aren't typical but made up for a slow season.
This film features time-lapse from many different storms from the 2021 #skstorm season. I chased both big systems and small ones. The four major events included are:
July 7th tornado-warned storm near Central Butte, Saskatchewan
July 22nd isolated storm near Weyburn, Saskatchewan
August 23rd tornado-warned that I chased with my wife and three kids near Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan
August 31st supercell that also received a tornado warning before hitting Regina. Saskatchewan.
A timelapse film is only as good as the music and this year I blended a couple of Ka Engel tracks. A very talented artist you may have heard on my channel before. Please check out his artist page at the links below.

A big thank you to my wife for all the support. This would not be possible without you. Thank you to my kids for helping mom out while I disappeared for hours on end.

Really glad to hear you enjoyed Mike! If it's got your seal of approval I know I'm on the right track. Sidenote - my kids keep asking me to watch "that storm video" again and again and they aren't talking about mine haha. Your latest is bonkers

Definitely, just have had to shift priorities as work ramped up. Unfortunately that meant RU-vid was on the chopping block. How have you been Terry?

@@ScottAspinall Hello Scott. Barely survived summer here. It was horribly hot, dry, and Smokey. Nothing nice at all about summer. Fall is looking pretty good, now though. Finally getting out and enjoying life. Feels great. Hope you are able to get out more these days. Did get a lot better at developing B&W film though. Actually film is a lot of fun these days. Take care now.🙂

Fantastic Scott. Who doesn't like a pretty anvil cloud ha! And some serious rotation going on in some of the storms. Cool stuff

@@ScottAspinall we got all the rain this year, above average. But the drought is still hard.

Thanks so much! This was all from this summer. Our first storm was in late May and our last (and coincidentally our most photogenic) was the end of August.

This is awesome Scott! I been starting to dabble with my Time Lapse setting on my D750. I just have couple questions with your wide angle lens how long do you take your shots for and at what interval do you shoot at to get the dynamic Range? Any chance we can catch up some time down in Moose Jaw?
@ScottAspinall
@ScottAspinall 2 года назад
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed. My settings vary quite widely between storms so that's hard to speak to. My interval is set to 1 or 2 seconds to keep the final timelapse smooth - it has less to do with dynamic range. I'm not in Moose Jaw often and only ever drive through. Feel free to message me on IG or something though and maybe something will work.

no finer example to illustrate how creation and destruction coexist. I wonder when the leaves of grass raise their eyes toward the heavens if they mistake a super cell for a supernova. the stars are not what we think they are -- oh no, not by far.
