I have a horse who gets absolutely hysterical over an abscess. She stands in one spot, won't move, and waves the sore foot around in front of me. After it's seen to end of drama.

I was uncomfortable when you poked the inside a couple times and seems not all loose horn were removed. Kinda messy in my opinion but I guess i'm just used to Nate the Hoof Guy's method of handling that kind of problem. Still a good job! as long as the cow were able to heal and not feel pain anymore.

I particularly liked the side view of you trimming her hoof as it helps me to understand what you are really doing to her heel. 👍

Poor dear… abscesses hurt to like no one can even imagine. I had an abscessed tooth once, and that pain was actually worse than pain from a broken great toe! Abscesses cause a type of pain called compartment pain, meaning that a compartment forms, but there is nowhere for the fluids, dead tissue, and burst white blood cells to go, so the pressure just builds and builds and builds, causing ever worsening pain as it does. The only way to make it better is to lance it, letting all that pressurized infectious material out, and then keep the wound from healing closed again, preventing the pressure from building again. The wound has to heal from the inside outwards. I hate to think of an animal going through that, unable to tell the humans tasked with their care that they’re hurting so terribly!

Anyone else feel as though he should have wrapped that massive wound up afterwards to prevent anything getting into it? The spray alone wont prevent shit etc from getting caked into that and causing worse issues soon after smh. Just the block is to prevent pressure being put onto that hoof, doesn't stop all debris getting into that massive wound. I'll go back to watching Hoof GP thanks.

I still think you should have wrapped the hoof after the spray. The wrap will allow the pus to escape.
