@btwice 2 You're right young brotha. The game today isn't very exciting at all. It's 1 dimensional and predictable. Every single team essentially runs just 2 plays. But the BIGGEST reason why it sucks is because the rules have been changed to handcuff defenses/defenders, which has led to EASIER scoring. And from that, it's morphed into one big 3pt shooting contest, where virtually EVERY GAME is a race between teams/players to see, which one of them can chuck up the most 3ptrs in a game. There's virtually NO defensive resistance (especially in the paint). See, when the game used to feature Real Bigs playing a traditional power game in the paint, this created HALF of the beauty of the game. And when tough, physical defenses roamed the NBA landscape, it FORCED the perimeter offensive players to be able to CONSISTENTLY create better shots for themselves (or a teammate), which is what led to some of the most SPECTACULAR (and exciting) basketball the game has ever seen. NOTE: this is WHY when you look at which era had the BEST ratings in league history, ALL OF 'EM occurred at a time (mid 80s - 90s) when these factors were present. That's NOT a coincidence... When the presence of dominant post players and talented perimeter/wing players were present in the NBA, this created 'Art on the Hardwood'. That balance is what's SORELY missing from today's game.
MJ said in an interview that he didn't want to put much effort into being a 3-point shooter and didn't want it to become the focal point of his play since it took away from his overall game. He also said that he didn't care about being a great 3 point shooter since he didn't like hanging around the 3 point line waiting for someone to pass him the ball.....He played with a one-track mind for winning, scoring, and stopping anyone who had the ball...the definition of an over-the-top competitor. 👍
Facts..that video is starting to get around. Fun fact:MJ came out to pregame warmups for the shrug game..all he was shooting was threes and everyone thought MJ may be injured. We’ll just from practicing before the game you see what happened.
Exactly! so it is asinine to listen to bronsexuals say that MJ would be DeMar DeRozan today like honestly Michael Jordan would be Russell Westbrook on steroids and a jumpshot
Seeing MJ (6:04) jump so high as he posterizes Bill Laimbeer, and then seconds later (6:04), he's dunking on an Indiana Pacer who looked even taller, is ridiculously insane! Could you imagine what the coaches and players on both teams were thinking and saying to each other every time they witnessed MJ's (6'6" tall) dunking on 1, 2, and 3 defenders, at will, on the biggest, tallest, and strongest players?? It just doesn't seem humanly possible to play like that 82 games a season 9 times in 13 full seasons. This video is great in how it caught MJ being incredibly skilled at using his left hand and his right hand to do layups, dunks, passes, steals, and blocks...Legendary talent.✌
Jordan won back to back Dunking Contests. Great reaction my guy! If you want to see an amazing Defense video of him, check out the Predator video! Fun Fact: Jordan is the shortest and lightest NBA player to ever shatter a backboard during a game.
3 pointers weren't a big of a deal back in the 90s, as it is nowadays. The way Michael Jordan played when he was on the court to nowadays no one has better skill and talent than Michael Jordan. I'll always say until the day I die that Michael Jordan is #1.
I think MJ is an underrated player. People who didn’t live through his career can’t understand what it felt like when he played. It was undisputed excellence every night. He would regularly do things that you never saw before and thought were impossible to do until you saw him do it. The fact that a handful of people think that LeBron is better means he’s not rated high enough
Those were Nike Air Ship Mike has on,he wore them his rookie yr. Those were the shoes that were banned in the Blck/Red colorway(for not having any white)
Just watched Ryder explain the difference between MJ and all the other players he faced. He said MJ just on a whole different level. I can appreciate his take. That's why for me. MJ is the Goat and will Probably be the Goat for a very long time. Especially with how the NBA is today. Just not the same for this fan. Watching all the dudes just standing around the 3 pt line waiting to get the ball for a shot. Very little inside play now days.
GOAT.... 🐐 no one else is even close...this mixed tape shows exactly what MJ would do to the current NBA...he routinely dunked over 7ftrs and multiple big defenders..taking elbows, shoulders, and full on body tackles each time...he'd do 45+ per game easy in this soft, no-touch, give you space league
Caught more bodies than cancer. Man was a freak of nature. Goat hands down. Man had two verticals. People on the ground he still floating and can read a book before his feet hit the floor 😂
MJ's and Bird's Ultimate Mix Tape are the best I've seen. All the other's are just not good. LOL. MJ would just kill in today's soft and sensitive NBA.
Jordan won two Dunk Contests but the one in Chicago was totally rigged. Yes, he won, but Dominique Wilkins was hosed as he was the clear winner (but for the fact that it was in Chicago).
The 3pt shot was a desperation play back in Mj's era. Only taken when the shot-clock would be close to elapsing, so on average teams would only take 9 3pt shots per game. Mj himself took less than 2 3-pointers a game.
Voyager is a great video. Thing is, no matter how many MJ highlights a person watches, there are more because every night was a highlight reel. Every night.
6:35 his all time 3pt% is ~33%, but he had seasons where he was above 40% and others where he was in the 20s. His rookie years he was pretty bad at them, shooting below 20% until 1988, when he shot 27%.
When Michael Jordan played in college I never would have guessed he was that great, because his coach wanted team play, that is sad to me. I know some others could hold the ball with one hand but Jordan could do it and swing it back and forth.
Bill laimbeer was like no thanks but it was too late he left his feet 😂. Two things with Mike don't leave your feet and don't let him leave the ground I'm talking some WWE sidewalk slam that dude cuz if you didn't he's going to score on you while putting you on a poster.
when jordan played, most teams shot 10 or less 3's per game, jordan averaged less than 2 per game if i remember correctly, but did set a record by shooting 6 in one half.
He won two. Both over Dominique. Dominique said jordan went into his locker room and said. Lace em up boys its gonna be a long night lol. Think he had 50+. Jordan had huge hands..
I think you should watch the voyager rare highlights for him. It’s even better than this imo and there’s some additional stuff. Some of these plays are there from different angles too. Additionally, yeah the NBA is less exciting. The newer rules have made it way to easy for the offense. You had to be a lot more creative back then I feel like in order to get clean shots because defenses were allowed to be a bit more aggressive.
Yeah MJ well did went to dunk contest I believe back to back if you want to check out another player with a highlight reel of dunks check out Vince Carter
This "mix tape" is misleading. MJ took threes when necessary. He just didn't come out like they do today shooting threes . Back in the days they would play u more physically and run u off the line too. Plus he didn't have to get his points using threes
His hang time isn’t really hang time..it’s been scientifically proven..he just jumps higher than anyone else and he can do it off the bounce one or two feet also at 3:06 look how hard he dribbles the ball he almost lost it..MJ was strong as fk.
Young Buck why settle for a 3 when he can take the ball to the hoop and DUNK over the entire team ?? I feel sorry for the younger generation ... I was lucky enough to watch The Fucking Legend, Magic and MJ ....
So what if Jordan dunk on Larry Legend that's nothing compared to Jordan laying a big fat goose egg in the playoffs against Larry Legend or the big L Jordan received against Larry Legend when he scored 63
Jordan vs Dominique was an EPIC dunk contest. MJ is my Goat but Nique won that contest in my opinion. Also in my opinion being a Showtime fan that it took his 5th ring before I called MJ the 🐐 Watch Jordan defense highlights. Bird was 6-0 vs Jordan in playoff games. Bird was rent free in MJ’s head. MJ admitted he learned trash talk & mind games from Bird.
You know Jordan is a spitting image of Bird. For example if you took MJ's athletic abilities and gave that to Bird he would be way better then anyone basically we would be comparing Birds stats as rebounds and points to be as high of not higher like Bill and Wilt stats as far as rebounds and assists and steals like Nash and Cousy and Stockton and his points would be double his avg now so give that a good thinking
There reason MJ did not take many 3's back then there was average of 4 3's per team game now there have of 22 to 23 a game. That being said 92 Finals MJ hit 5 3's against Portland Trail Blazers
@@bobbymoss4666 Shocking, you mean an 80's Bulls team lost to an 80's Celtics team that was in their prime? Shocking. That Celtics team wouldn't have been 6-0 vs. the 90's Bulls. The Bulls were a 90's team, of course they lost to the Celtics in the 80's who were an 80's team.
The video I put in this comment may be a little bias. But stats, facts, and video don’t lie…so the bias doesn’t matter. I’m not hating on MJ by no means he was hands down my favorite player growing up…but I can step back from my own bias and recognize facts. Really MJ had been in the league a good while but didn’t really become dominant until after Bird retired…coincidence?…we’ll never know. But with all Bird’s injuries the fact that he could keep up with, and get the better of a “prime” Jordan even with Pippen says a lot on its own. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kXNLtXUTRYY.html
@@kristalmacleod3004 also NO great teammates NO RINGS I promise if you swapped rosters in between 86/87 mikes squad (Mj, Mchale ,Parrish)would destroy & absolutely dominate Larry’s (Larry, Dave corzine, Oakley)
You mean Bird and the other FOUR hall-of-famers. To this day no one remembers that Boston won the chip in 86 - only thing everyone remembers is Black Jesus turning all them hall-of-famers into Kevorkian cash patient cadavers. It was only Mike's second season in NBA, one in which he missed most of it due to broken foot, and Bird paid infinite reverence when he said "that was God disguised as Jordan." Bird was nice but he's not even the greatest small-forward all-time. James passed him up years ago.
Bird also had immense help with four hall-of-famers (McHale, Parish, Walton, Dennis Johnson) while MJ was on a cocaine circus squad. Soon as MJ had his first All-Star teammate it was as over as Anne Heche with Pablo Esco undiluted George Jung blow. Who has more chips (with less help) and is considered the GOAT by the masses? The highly respected NBA columnist Jackie MacMullan, who covered Bird's career and helped with his autobiography, also has Black Jesus as the GOAT.
@@katrinachavez3533 glad you brought up the fact that Bird had back up. Jordan was coming off injury and still scored 63 on them. Although I will say that Bird was bad. very good as a 3 pointer.
