I make the case for lasers. While it doesn't make you a better shooter, it definitely gives you a finer ability to take an accurate shot.

I like how you have an actual opinion, not just regurgitated bullshit like so many others. "Duurrr lasers are for noobs". "Duurrr they make you super good". While you actually sit back, consider the info at hand, and explain your reasoning very eloquently. Bravo. I'm still too cheap to buy one though.

While people are cynically saying "I'd sit back and consider info at hand if I'm sponsored too", but I'd like to think Colion Noir wouldn't put his name to a product just because they are willing to pay if the product is stupid, and this does seem sound, I mean, it's not like this guide rod is less of a reliable guide rod, like the title says, there's nothing to lose if you have the cash for it.

aaron4820 that’s true bro, I actually am about to buy one after watching this video, I have a habit of leaving my gun with my wife when I feel she’s vulnerable and I would feel even more comfortable if she could rely on a laser sight, Sadly i can’t find one for my KAHR CM9, but I’m buying a G43X soon and I’m hoping they make the guide rod lasers for that model... if you have any tips or know where to find them cheaper lmk

LaserMax has the right to charge what they'd like for this product. That's why I opted for an ArmaLaser. Still not cheap, but it serves the same purpose and does a great job.

I put a Lasermax on a Glock 19. I sent it back 2 or 3 different times. It seemed to operate great until I actually fired the gun. As soon as the laser warmed up, it had multiple problems. It would turn off on its own. It would come on when I didn’t want it to and I always just felt like it was junk although it cost $280! It also was a much stiffer spring than the factory recoil spring which I didn’t like at all. Needless to say, after Lasermax sent me the 3rd new one, I just left it in the safe in the package.

I've had two Lasermax guide rod units in both my Glock 17 back 23yrs ago and Glock 30 45ACP. duty weapons. They both worked flawlessly, extremely bright pulsing beam even in the day time with a small stack of batteries which lasted for years while keeping my original holsters....a huge plus ! I just WISH they made one for my SIG and my 1911's.

I still have mine in my second generation Glock 21 and the batteries are still good I’m starting to think some people just leave them on and then complain about the batteries to get free ones or something I have not encountered a real problem with this ever when it was a new gun purchase with the guide rod already installed I noticed the pistol had barely any rounds through it so when it was new the switch got stuck one time where it would only work on one side after tinkering with it for about five seconds It never did it again these are amazing tools and I love mine I was never really a bull’s-eye shooter anyway with this I get away with murder at the range

I disagree completely with the internet commandos. In a high stress defensive situation (less than 10 yards) a laser is a very effective tool when gross motor skills will likely break down to some degree. And it's less cumbersome to EDC than a RDS on a typical self defense firearms.

Yes, because under stress, finding a red dot on your target is so much easier than looking at the sights in your actual hands. When your hands are shaking, you think finding a red dot shaking all over the place is easier than finding iron sights moving just a little bit in your hands? You're crazy. There's. Reason people don't instruct this crap.

I took a jump here as I wanted to keep my holster...HA, what a waste. I have a G26 Gen4 and install was easy to say the least. However, over a short period of time I was frustrated to say the least. First, you only have 1 hour of battery life (4 - ganged batteries), and after 30 min of use time you lose brightness that wasn't much to begin with. Second, it is only strobe in the smaller guns. Last, if any contamination occurs on the takedown switch IT FAILS, period. I do say the concept was intriguing, but in application I lost. I would recommend the TLR-6 with a very bright laser and 12 hours of operation. The light with it (my primary reason for this) does give only 1 hour of constant use, but with no breakdown to replace a battery, simple trapdoor. I use both light/laser combo in my use. In larger gun applications, the guide rod might be fine as I read that a mode is selectable, constant or strobe, but life for the laser is still too short for my liking and it's reliability. Good video, buyer beware.

I have a Crimson Trace trigger guard 360G. It mounts on the rail and wraps around the trigger guard placing a pressure button on the grip just under the guard. If the 'on/off' switch is on (and it always it when I carry) the laser comes on automatically when the shooter takes a shooting grip. (Note: you can choose to slack the grip of your activating finger and the laser will not come on until you choose.) I changed from sighting my laser at 25 yds to sighting it at 15 yds. My reasons were thus. Years of experience has shown I do not use my laser exclusively in conjunction with my iron sights. Rather I use it (1) in lieu of iron sights for extremely close range 'point shooting' (1 - 6') or (2) at moderate range 'flash sight' shooting (6 - 15') to either replace or reinforce my iron sights according to need. As for sighting: Sighted at 15 yrds the straight laser meets the curved bullet trajectory at 15 yds. (No iron sights involved. Laser on bull's eye = bullet on bull's eye @ 15 yds.) Up to that point the laser is below my bullet's trajectory up to 1.5" decreasing to zero at 15 yds. Beyond that, out to 25 yds the laser hits high, rising to about 1" over the bullet impact point. Beyond 25' the laser still helps keep your vertical aligned (centered mid-line) but any horizontal (high/low) help disappears at about 40 yds. This means that using the laser only, I can quickly calculate to adjust up or down based estimated target distance and still impact within one inch of my laser point. For close shots I am probably not even looking at my iron sights, and if I was the laser is below my aiming line and useless. This would also be true out to 25 yds if my laser was sighted at 25 yds. However, by sighting it at 15 yds the laser becomes visible above my aiming line at all points past 15 yds. Thus giving me the option of what sight, or sight combination) to use. If I want pin-point accuracy I will use my iron sights - tests and experience show this to be more accurate but slightly slower than using the laser. If speed is the focus, tests and experience show my laser gains me fractions of a second (up to 0.5 second - depending on distance) while still giving me a group of 2" or less. ALSO, it should be noted that these same distance adjustments must be made to do pin point shooting with iron sights (Physics 101). Finally, Red vs Green: it is a scientific fact that the color of the green (yellow-green) laser attracts the human eye faster than any other color (period.) - including red. This is why many fire departments began painting engines 'green' rather that red. This is also why I choose a green laser over a red. Although, red still beats no laser - at least in my book. Other advantages are well documented, and clearly personal preference trumps facts 8 out of 10 times. But it must be noted that unless it is being used in a very dusty environment, a gun laser produces a dot, not a beam. considerably faster than red. That is why fire engines switched away from red to 'green', and that is why I advocate green lasers over red - although red beats no laser at all.

Great video and man it is filmed and edited very well, keep it up I enjoyed your opinion. A laser guide rod is a great tool, like how I like having a hammer and a nail and a driver. There are a multitude of defense scenarios and the guide rod laser allows me to train effectively for a few of them without compromising any space or performance since they use wolff springs, are made well and are impossible to knock out of alignment. I can think of a few where I would want to draw and get a quick acquisition with the laser.

I've had a LaserMax LMS-1161 on my Glock 30 since 2001. It's over 17 years old and works well. Not that many rounds over those years though. Yes, strobe is the only mode, no steady. I've only used a couple of battery packs, but they're available on Ebay with the shrink wrap already on them. You could put in a little stack of individual LMS-319 batteries, but it'll be like stacking aspirin tablets. No thanks. Back then, mine was over $400! Having said that, I'm now trying a Crimson Trace LG-629. It's a little brighter, steady with no strobe, zero-able, and comes on when gripping the gun. I'm liking it better considering I found one for $99 on Amazon. Newer LaserMax is 5mW as opposed to mine at 3mW. Crimson Trace is also 5mW laser. Both are removable, of course, if you need to. Each is specifically tailored to only a few models of the Glock line-up. So check that carefully before ordering. Which generation of Glock you have might make a difference. It comes down to how you want the laser to come on. Switch on the take-down, or grip-mounted in the web of your hand. For CCW and security on my property, I'm no going with the latter. Hope that helps everyone.

I got a second hand laser gun not too long ago. I thought id hate it. I just...dont. it even helps light up dark corners when you hear that bump in the night. Not a replacement for a proper light but better than nothing.

Happy New Year, I just recently placed a laser for my G-19. My plan was to only use it if something goes bump in the night. I figured waking up half groggy, and having someone trying to break into your house. That the laser/light combo will help me acquire targets a lot easier. Do you use a lasar in doors or do you have another method all together.

As someone to helped to teach firearms tactics and training for the military.. add on's fail.. there is no substitute for training and experience... anything that needs batteries etc should ever be relied on.. Spend that $300 on rounds, range time, and a good defensive shooting instructor with a solid back ground (not the guy that promises to make you a modern day ninja with a gun).. you will be far further ahead at the end of the day!!

Hey Colion Noir, I'd like to apologize for the way I responded when you replied to me asking what the background music was in one of your videos. The excitement overtook me. Hope you have a great 2018.

There is a mental effect no doubt it will give the appearance of someone that knows how to use the gun and is prepared for anything.

I like the concept...the only question is during a defensive situation am I going to have time too turn it on?

Practice makes perfect at the range. I know that isn't the "real" thing but, it never hurts to be prepared.

Do they make one for the Glock 29?

Laser sights are great if you're in a situation where you need to accurately point shoot or shoot from the hip, but in the majority of situations using your actual sights will be better. Still, nothing to lose if you have a spare $250 laying around. I'd say this is probably a better investment than putting a bunch of slide cuts and a ported barrel in your gun, which people seem to have no problem dropping hundreds of dollars on.

Trying to find a level 3 holster that works with a tlr8 and an rmr on a Glock 45... this and a tlr 7 would be essentially the same thing.

Exactly how I have always felt. Every time I buy a glock I install a lasermax. It doesnt change anything with the gun but replace the guide rod and spring. Why wouldnt you install one?

I couldn’t agree more Colion... People who think lasers are for beginners? Are the beginners!!! And if your too CHEAP to afford one? Then that’s it... YOUR JUST TOO CHEAP to up the %’s of them being successful with their shots on target! It may just cost them their LIFE!!! Then you can’t say... “it’s too expensive, Because it’s too late!!!”

Lethal weapon 3 Riggs began to use a laser and it was attributed to his age and skill and reflex degradation....it helped him in close range gun fights and helped intimidate jet lee for a minute
