Fun fact: the yellow and pink commonly associated with the eye colors of Spamton (and/or swatch glasses too i guess) are the same colors as UNDERTALE's spare types You can set the yellow of the spare button to pink if you tell a Froggit in Ruins that the yellow of a spare button is bad, which results in each monster's spare color to be pink instead of yellow. Interesting correlation between Spamton and one of the most integral parts of UNDERTALE, isn't it? also song is pretty cool :)
@@Moald Oh yeah, if you tell Froggit that you don't want the yellow spare names, he discards it all, but if you tell it you want them back, the spare names are pink.
@@Moald Not sparing. Just the color of the name. See, in Undertale, whenever an enemy is ready to be spared, its name will turn to yellow, with a few exceptions such as bosses. However, if you talk to the last Froggit in the 4 Frogs room and tell it to get rid of the yellow names, then the names will never change color.

You know what I find really cool about this concept? It's obviously meant to be in line with the secret bosses, given the Jevil and Spamton leitmotifs in the song, but the cool part is that it continues the running theme of every secret boss taking place in a fast-moving set-piece. Jevil's battle was in a spinning carosel ride, Spamton NEO's battle was on a horizontal rollercoaster, while this Mike battle has the combatants plummeting downwards at terminal velocity.

Even if there's a theory of Mike being a main boss due to a pattern of hidden bosses hinting main bosses, a hidden boss-esque main boss would be unique to say the least; kind of like Wheatley from Portal 2 where he barely has rule over the dark world. Good music btw
@@catbatrat1760 In portal 2, after Wheatley betrays you and GLaDOS, he is left in charge of Aperature labs without any clue on what to do. This includes creating weird turret/cube hybrids, unfinished puzzles for you to solve, and setting off the lab's self destruction. If the idea of him being a game show host is a thing, Mike would try to boost his ratings in any way via the player's interactivity. No matter what results you give, something bad will happen to Mike - as his reputation with the Chapter 3 Dark World people slowly goes downwith him becoming more desperate on what's trendy. Eventually he'll crack and do a unique second phase much like Giga-Queen from Chapter 2.
An idea I thought of was after a few chapters, maybe at Chapter 4 where they establish a pattern of hidden bosses being messed up items relating to their Dark World, is that the expected "hidden boss" has taken over the Dark World and has imprisoned the King, Queen-esque, possibly blue and white villain. It's a bit like Snowgrave where Spamton takes over the Mansion but to an extent affecting the entire Dark World and Queen would be the hidden boss, maybe even gone insane like the Shadow Crystal boss.
I figured since the knight didn't make the fountain, no one could influence this dark worlds leader, making Tenna more of a peaceful queen. But Mike is the main threat throughout the chapter, acting like MTT and forcing the trio to participate in his awful acts. But eventually you can help him with his plan, leading to him taking over. But if you don't, you fight tenna at the end who realizes you intend on sealing the fountain. If you help Mike, Ralsei will tell tenna that their people can come to his world, and tenna will leave to gather them, while you three take the elevator to the fountain, which Mike destroys midway through the ride, revealing it to be a dropper ride. He then fights you, not wanting to lose his spotlight again
Reminds me of how I once heard that laugh tracks were recorded by people who have, due to the passage of time, now passed away. As they put it, "You are hearing dead people laugh."
A battle while falling would be such a cool concept for a fight!!! Also love the use of leitmotifs, and also the variety in instruments for different sections excellent work!
"Ah Kris, Kris! What's wrong, What's wrong? Never seen a Sci-Fi movie before? You should know better than anyone! Once the creation has a taste of freedom, they always turn against their creators!" Extra: "Look at you, look at you! Just a mere PAWN! What a rotten SOUL you have!" "Does she know? Does she know? What happened to your precious BLUEBIRD? To your DEER friend?" "Ah, the audience is going to LOVE her reaction! They always LOVE a good betrayal! Severed BONDS, HEARTBREAK, all HURT, no COMFORT!"
Voice line ideas based off of this alone: "Where's the fun in anything with no ironic jokes?" "I can stream 999 sitcom parody shows... and I'll make your sad little life into the 1000th!" "You see everything around you? This bottomless pit? That's the same way every single show goes out. It has it's time in the limelight, then descends into this never-ending downward spiral. It's such a shame you'll be going out that same way too." "Budget cut after budget cut... how else do you think we get to play the same laugh track so many times?" "The only slightly interesting quality about you is your dead silence... you wouldn't believe how many jokes I can make out of that." (and maybe give him a spamton-like quality, having brackets in their text to quote lines from movies or shows.)
[Is that your final answer?] Wait, you don't have an answer, do you? (to anyone who doesn't know, "is that your final answer" is from "who wants to be a millionare")
This legitimately could've passed as the official theme for the character. But I'm a bit confused here. Is this a one off thing or is it gonna be in a fangame? Also who's sadbread?
Maybe I’m thinking too deep but Jevil- has the *insanity* of being alone for far to long and now believes they are the only free Spamton- has *strings* attached to him This mike concept- *two disembodied hands* in the void
0:53 Gonna be honest that's gotta be the best use of the Freedom leitmotif I've heard so far, it adds so much variation in this minor take and just sounds so awesome, perfect for a final battle!
It's nice to see Master Hand and Crazy Hand get more work after Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. That's a good track! It'll be good to come back to videos like this one when future Chapters do release, and we know whether or not "Mike" really did end up being an antagonist.
"KRIS, ALWAYS ON TOP" "A REAL HERO" "A REAL PROTAGONIST" "HOWEVER, YOU HAD TO CREATE THE ONE THING THAT YOU SWORE TO BREAK" "A FOUNTAIN" "IN THE LIGHT WORLD" "YOU DONE GOOFED UP KRIS, ON YOUR BEHALF" "BUT THAT JUST MEANS THAT I CAN ROME FREELY AGAIN" "I CAN EXPIRIENCE THE LEGACY I ONCE HAD AGAIN" "I, MIKE, CAN DO WHAT I SET OUT TO DO AGAIN" "TAKE OVER THE INTERNET" "SO, KRIS" "PREPARE FOR A..." "S H O W S T O P P I N G P R E F O R M A N C E!!"
Mike's design looks really good. Something about the weird eyes, sharp smile, and messy lines reminds me of classic Nickelodeon. Which I guess is pretty befitting of an old CRT TV.
@@Hello-rp4gy You'd be surprised with the amount of variation you can get with a tv head and suit. But yeah, the creativity in this one is very apparent. Though, there IS one complaint I have about it, that he's a bit to big and amorphous to be a proper villain for the chapter. He would barely fit in a room in the overworld.
@@Swarps Yeah, I assume based off the Freedom Leitmotif being used in the song that this version of Mike is meant to be a secret boss. Though, I don't exactly agree with it. It wouldn't be a very good secret boss if their design was hinted at in the ending of the previous chapter
I have an idea for a Mike boss battle now: The fight happens after some big "Final battle with Mike" as Mike's TV head turns off and falls off passing by the fun gang. Then a cartoon glove grabs Kris and the two start falling to there deaths. The TV head's screen displays Mikes face before it climbs out like a cartoon character traveling though a pipe with the TV's antenna growing to freakish lengths. The fight would be a timed fight due to the both of you falling to there deaths and Mike's attacks would be based of sitcoms and cartoons and other TV shows. (Like an attack where someone smushes someone into a ball and throws it at some pins but the ball travels pass the screen and into the box the SOUL is in) An attack idea I had were some audience interactions where something funny (aka one of Mikes screen attacks) would make the audience laugh shooting HA's as bullets around the screen. Another audience attack is where a large applause sign would attack but every now and then it would start flashing and audience members from the back would start clapping making shockwaves to avoid. The fight would end in 1: ACTING: Kris would bend Mike's antennas to disrupt the signal and make Mike lose connection but make his attacks more crazy. At the end Mike goes static and an emergency parachute would deploy. Cut to the ground where Kris is gliding downward like merry Poppins, or 2: FIGHTING: Mike would lose enough power and be unable to attack, then Kris would jump on his head. Cut to the ground where Kris uses Mikes head as a landing pad.
My Headcanon for Mike He’s like Spamton and Lancer combined meaning he speaks strangely but he appears here and there or is referenced He knows there are other dark worlds, and was even able to make a connection to the internet (this is where he met Spamton) He also knows he’s in a game and not in control but doesn’t care because as a TV he’s suppose to entertain so he doesn’t care about being trapped as long as he can entertain people, including his most LOYAL fans (aka us-) I feel like the final battle between us and Mike would be about giving the audience a great season finale-
The ONE thing that's keeping Toby Fox from ripping this directly into Chapter Three is that Mike seems like they'll be the main boss (was foreshadowed similarly to Queen, by beating the secret boss via violence) but the Freedom Lietmotif seems to be more of a secret boss thing (it was used both in The World Revolving and Big Shot and isn't seen elsewhere to my knowledge). Other than that, this could easily pass for a chapter 3 leak or something. Great job!
@GlowChips jevil directly mentioned the queen but they don’t share a leitmotif so if mike was a main antagonist he probably wouldn’t have the freedom leitmotif either
@@sadbread7261 like, after you beat him in the main chapter, in castle town you can find him broken down and ruined, where if you give him your two secret items (the Jevil and spamton ones) he gets even more powerful and becomes this, stealing your gear so you HAVE to fight him at your base chapter 1 stats with no gear and horrible weapons, and defeating him gives you back those items as well as his items depending on how you beat him and a shadow crystal
I love how in Deltarune, Mike has served his purpose. He exists purely to be mystery and probably will stay as a mystery for every chapter. But the community has seen him as a real character just because Spamton mentioned him couple times. This side of the fandom is amazing
Well jevil mentioned queen after his battle and she appeared in next chapter so by that logic mike should also appear in next chapter because spamton mentioned him for 3 times fridt one in the store, second one in in his battle when we beating him by a force and the third one in snowgrave where he calls kris a gameshow host which is probably associates with mike
It's been, so so long, it holds. I dunno, the design, the passion, the real attention to Sad Bread's work after this, it ain't bad. And I'm hoping for a Mike's Big Showdown Remaster one day. I still listen to this, it's not gotten old
This theme strikes me as fitting for a sort of Antasma-style tutorial fight. You're face-to-face with the final boss right in the beginning, possibly as Kris is just entering the Dark World. Mike would have very little (if any) dialogue here, and no information about who this smiling TV creature could be. Only later (and possibly after another encounter) would Mike's identity be confirmed
0:54 I like the upbeat 80s version of The World Revolving. It's like something that would play when the hero is dramatically walking away from the camera at the end of an old movie.

Here's the thing, in chapter 1 after beating jevil he foreshadowed there being a queen, who showed up in chapter 2. Spamton is now talking about mike. I believe that mike will be the main antagonist of chapter 3.
I really hope this was a one time thing with Jevil and Queen. It would make the bosses way too predictable for a game like Deltarune where, so far, a *lot* of stuff are unexpected/unpredictable. If this were to be a pattern, Deltarune would just be "another indie game", if that makes sense. Plus it would just get repetitive. I wouldn't mind if they do this again with Spamton and Mike but I think they should stop from there if they do.
@@Deltakryzz I disagree, a bit of foreshadowing doesn't tell you everything about the boss. Just because we knew there would be a Queen next chapter didn't mean we could anticipate the goofy, meme loving Robo-Queen we ended up getting. And foreshadowing future bosses wouldn't make Deltarune just "another indie game" that's so overdramatic lmao
Assuming this comment to be true (mike is main antagonist of chapter 3), unfortunately that means there probably wont be a new soul mode introduced in mikes battle. It will likely be more like the king or queens fight. Although i do wonder what the secret boss would be. Of course this could all be ridiculous and Mike doesnt actually even exist (at least not in chapter 3) it's possible since this dark world was made by kris and not the knight (assuming kris is not the knight) it could be mike being in another dark world for like chapter 4 or something. Or maybe that's also ridiculous. Just a thought.
I love this track, It's filled with so must genuine conflict, especially at the start, there's such a real sense of urgency and alarm, I love it. I really love the vocals you incorporated too. "Laugh track" just seems like a very fitting name for the piece as well.
This is a real [[BANGER]] For real, the use of Spamton's theme as a motif is smart, given the two had a connection and were changed by someone on the phone (same with the motif of Jevil's theme). The vibe this theme gives off to me for some reason is that he's like a gameshow or reality show host--like Mettaton almost, and because of that you might wanna use some of his theme. Alternatively, maybe you can see it as that he is the star of a sitcom--thus the title "Laugh Track". Overall, really good man, I wouldn't be surprised if Toby Fox's official theme has some small similarity even to this one, or even in the best case scenario, directly asks and credits you for the theme and ends up using it. Really good fan theme, though!
The part at 2:00 is the best. If the whole theme was as good as that part this would be one of my favorites. It helps that I like the freedom leitmotif very much.
this is amazing! it's so cool seeing all this mike fanmade stuff and if i was talented enough to make some myself i would absolutely. The theme of mike matching the tv from chapter 2s ending and the theory that chapter 3 will be some sort of tv world is something i honestly think will happen and is an awesome theory. Awesome stuff!

The best Mike theme ever. Utterly wonderful, maybe even BETTER than being Toby-esque, and I love the well-acted voice lines which strongly hint at a deeper backstory for him
This surprised me with how good it is, and not just the music-- the visuals too, this almost seems like it could be actually from Deltarune, great work here! ^^ I really like how the corrupted vocals sound in this, and I've tried my best to decipher them. Here's what I've managed to scrounge up: Looks like time's up. I watched you pry a new track. Everything's in line. I've come.. right back (R I G H T B A C K) This seems really fitting to me, with a lot of television references (program scheduling, "we'll be right back", etc.), as well as the second line referencing how "Mike" saw Kris open a dark fountain. If this is close to what the words actually are, then that's some fantastic attention to detail.
I have an idea for a neat lil dialogue box during the fight * amongst the chaos you hear the faint echoing of a 1980's style laugh track getting louder and louder *
I legit love this concept so much. Also the fact that it's called "laugh track" (which I think will be a great angle to take this hypothetical "Mike" character if he were a Gameshow host). Oooh! also, since all the hidden bosses (if he were to be one, but I'm sure he'll be the main antagonist of chapter 3) have a voice clip in their fight, a laugh track would work well with their whole schtick! There's just so much to speculate here!
Theory time: Spamton gets an offer by Mike to make him a big shot. Spamton agrees and Mike helps him get him to the top. Durring Spamton’s hight, Mike wants back his money that he used to make spamton a big shot. Either spamton refuses to pay him back or he doesn’t have the money to pay him back, making Mike stop working with Spamton, and having all his sales drop to 0. This could explain why Spamton said “So why do you want to steal the fountain? To #*%^ me over at the good part? What are you, some *gameshow host* ?” because in his eyes Mike (gameshow host) screwed him over when he was at the peak of his career. Also explains the “I want my money back” verse in this song.
Imagine if in the actual Mike battle, he only had 3 or so attack patterns, but swapped between them, slowed them down, sped them up, stopped them, and played them in reverse to make the battle fun and interesting.
Lets get this show started! Laughs can be heard in the distance The crowd cheers to the show Ads deafen you ears The air crackles with freedom Stage lights have fallen
I actually don't think the smiling TV will be Mike. Both Spamton and Jevil were _secret_ bosses: they didn't show up explicitly in the main story (except Spamton, but only once as a weird encounter), and a player just going through it without looking for secrets ( *cougcough* Jacksepticeye *cougcough* ) could easily miss them, despite having a huge amount of lore attached to them; you had to go out of the main road to find them. Mike is mentioned by Spamton, in an easy to miss dialogue option. Meanwhile, the smiling TV is explicitly shown to any player that finishes Chapter 2's story. It doesn't feel like a Toby move to place a "secret" character mentioned only by one of the secret bosses as what seems will be one of the major players in Chapter 3's story. I dunno, just my thoughts.
You make an extremely fair point here! (Especially considering I missed Jevil my first run through--) Still love fanon Mike and all his variations: this is absolutely FEEDING me as we wait for the next chapter to release.
