Mahershala Ali presents Laura Dern with the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in “Marriage Story“ at the 92nd Oscars in 2020. #Oscars #LauraDern #MarriageStory
yeah and at the same time it's a little bit ironic since she was nominated along with her fellows scarlette johansson and florence pugh, what a hilarious situation!
godsandmonsters kinda torn between all these wonderful actresses but Florence got a very long career ahead of her and I’m sure her time will definitely come
Wait i just realised Florence and Laura are both in Little Woman Laura and Scarlett are both in Marriage Story And Scarlett and Florence are both in Black Widow Mind Blown
And Laura worked with Greta Gerwig in Little Women and Noah Baumbach in Marriage Story that both films were released in the same year. Greta and Noah are couples....working with Laura in different movies. Coincidence? i think not!
Rafael Cuthbert she played Ellen degeneres’ love interest on her sitcom when she “came out” and the backlash, since it was the 90s, caused both of their careers to suffer for several years.
MrGenexxx well if you’re referencing her talk show that she has, she only got that six years after that episode aired. So she definitely did have to struggle for a while until she wasn’t accepted again by mainstream audiences.
Renata in big little lies 02 , marriage story and little women.... Man she had so many memorable roles in 2019 , that people voted for all those collectively
The 4 of 6 amazing female stars of Big Little Lies are now Oscar winners: Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Meryl Streep, and now Laura Dern! Shoutout to Shailene Woodley and Zoe Kravitz that I hope they will win an Oscar (and Emmy) someday because they are incredible too!
It’s about time that Laura Dern finally won her Oscar, for some it was Jurassic Park that they saw Laura for the first time. But for many, it would be her work with David Lynch, and over the years she’s become one of the most respective and beloved actresses working to this day. Congratulations, Laura you rightfully deserve it. Happy late birthday, Laura. I hope it was lovely.

@@manavdhawan3313 No she wasn't. The movie was brilliant, but her performance is something that keeps me away from calling inland empire a masterpiece.

how cool to bring your parent(s) to the awards show, and to honor them for the shaping of your destiny, your choices in life, particularly so if you both work in the same field. diane ladd must have been especially proud that night, and rightly so. it was a beautiful tribute.

Hi there Thanks for your love and support that has brought me this far, it has been a hard time for me going through this but your love and support keeps me going and standing strong in this difficult times. It’s a season of love😍❤️❤️ for me and so I decided to put a smile on the faces of my fans by going through my RU-vid channel and checking out on my fans, so I can get to communicate with my fans better through discussion of depth and humor listening to compliments and criticism of my career.💞💞🙏💓... 💖❤️💞💞
This is just everything. Laura Dern in the same nomination as her costar from Marriage Story, Scarlett Johansson (nominated for Jojo Rabbit) and her costar from Little Women, Florence Pugh (nominated for LW). Both directed by real life couple Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach, both released on the same year, 2019.
Laura Dern and Brad Pitt "guest starred" in an episode of King of the Hill together playing fiancee's. Just funny they both won Oscars on the same night.
The people who says she didn’t deserve the Oscar are probably the people who thinks acting needs more screen time and more crying and shouting and actions. Laura Dern maybe on screen not that long but she dominates every single scene, from the dialogue to the mannerism. Well-deserved.
@@molliebridge1536 Maybe what the OP's comment means is that Scarlett Johanson is such a gorgeous lady that whoever comes after her looks so bland in comparison but then Flo's image came up and she actually has a beauty level that is on par with Scarlett. Both are stunning ladies.
from her first scene in Marriage Story, I knew she'd get the nom and win. Like brad Pitt's overdue win this was not only for that film but for her entire career.
Lenthis Goldstein Both supportings this year were disappointing from an acting stand-point. Definite head-scratchers. Sometimes people win for being who they are, rather than the roles they are portraying.
I’m incredibly happy for Laura Dern, but the fact that Zhao Shuzhen wasn’t even nominated still makes me mad, she was absolutely astonishing in The Farewell, she touched me deeply.
I've seen this clip so many times cause Laura is genuinely the classiest lady and deserved it. But at 1:13 to 1:25 I just saw Greta Gerwig and Noah both standing, clapping, hugging, reassuring each other and that has to be the cutest. Save THEM!
So powerful. Laura was surprisingly focused. It's amazing how many names she managed to remember! I got the feeling she was determined not to get owerwhelmed by emotions until she had said the names lol.
Now, give her the oscars she has been owed in the past from her in performances Inland Empire, Wild At Heart, The Tale, Certain Women, Blue Velvet, Rambling Rose and, of course, the film which contains what I believe to be one of her best if not her best performance ever, Citizen Ruth!
She just seems so REAL. She plays very strong, tough people (I’m thinking Renata here), but here it’s beautiful to see her sensitivity and the genuine love she seems to have for the people in her life. Makes me have more faith in Hollywood that the Academy awards not only great acting, but deserving people.
I watched Marriage Story again today and wonder how the fuck she won this oscar. She played a quite discardable character without it leaving any trace of her performance in my mind, compare her performance to other nominations and this is clear as day an undeserved win
0:38 applause to Laura Dern's legendary mother Diane Ladd. Was her father Bruce Dern there too? Btw Scarlett Johansson (0:43) is hot, as is Margot Robbie (0:53).
Sus dialogos en Historia d un Matrimonio fueron hermosos y la manera q ella los dije fué brillante . Muy merecido su Oscar ... Una actriz con una carrera Fulgurante ....
@@taliagustin2794 The voters are stupid. We can clearly see that Florence deserved way more. Or even Scarlett. Laura is a great actress but she didn't deserve for this role. It wasn't even that special. I honestly don't see the obsession. Just because she has been doing a lot of movies and never won before it doesn't mean she had to win this time. Anyway... it's just my opinion.
Maybe it was the way her character was supposed to be like, but I just found her character boring and fake. She was supposed to be this top lawyer and she came off as this rich Middle aged Beverly Hills housewife. She didn’t look professional to me. She was running a law firm not some Botox clinic for rich people
Scarlett will have her time sooner or later.. it’s great if you won but she can still look at her film CV and be proud of how far and successful her career has gone regardless of it.. Being part of a multi billion dollar franchise like the MCU along with being in some of the best movies of the era like Lost in translation, girl with a pearl earring and many more. She’s got a massive great career
I feel bad for scarlett, she obviously was the best support actress and she knows that too .but she smiled and hugged laura and gave her the biggest kiss there is scar is the best😭😭

Laura Dern finally wins the Oscar and that was well-deserved but I still think Jennifer Lopez and Nicole Kidman should have been in this category too. Moreover, Jennifer was Laura's main rival in all other awards. It reminded me a case with Madonna. In 1997 she deserved to be nominated for Evita but those academics judge celebrities instead of true acting. SAD!
Scarlett Johansson in Jojo Rabbit and Kathy Bates in Richard Jewell Over Jennifer López in Hustlers and Nicole Kidman in Bombshell, a Big Mistake, but Yes, Laura Dern Deserve to Win
Some people say that her characters in Big little Lies and Marriage Story were the same but I don't think so, she did incredibly different women in both. I just would have loved to see JLo in that category.
Nora Fanshaw and Renata Klein are totally different characters, despite having bitchy tendencies. Renata Klein is actually a very insecure, defensive and deep down good hearted character who felt the need to defend her life from other judgmental women. Nora Fanshaw is legitimately a questionable person, and has absolutely no cares about hurting people whatsoever. I don't get why people compare the roles. They're not similar.

I just watched Marriage Story. Very well deserved. She took the divorce lawyer type and took it in a more human direction that was both empowering and invigorating to watch.
@@luismarioguerrerosanchez4747 What did you hate about her character? And, yes, its cool to hate a character and appreciate a good performance. The two are different.
@Reginald Wilson to-TA-lly!!!!! Was blown away by Jen as Ramona. Was her at her best. This is nothing but a huge letdown for her and for film in general. Cancelling someone out for being what? Mainstream? Pop? In a gritty role? I'll tell you what she is, TALENTED 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Also, her TFIOS co-stars Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort should have been Oscar-nominated for Best Actress and Best Actor, but the studio 20th Century Fox mounted an unsuccessful campaign for recognizing their brilliant performances, I agree with you!
laura dern deserved this award. but i would have loved to see some of the supporting actresses from parasite nominated too since their performances were incredible, but i guess there's only so much progression the academy can take in one year
