we pay huge amount as taxes to keep the police force running and to do their job which is to protect the public. if they are asking us to help the thieves, why are we paying taxes?

No joke this is exactly what happened to us when our car got stolen here in Ottawa. Nothing they could do. One of the cops recommended next time make it easier for them to find the keys so they would cause less damage in the house looking for it!!

I just gave up on driving nicer vehicles ! They are over-priced, and I was always carefull to park far away from where everyone parks when shopping, and worried more about scratches or dings, and theft, but now it's so easy, just park anywhere, not worry, a ding gives it character, and the incredible amount of money I didn't spend on it is phenominal ! Ok, so yeah, I'd drive the convertible sportscar around just for fun, but not for shopping or attending venues, (if I could afford owning two cars) or even wanted to bother !

Disband Toronto Police, replace it with RCMP. Atleast federally, they'll be able to send more officers to Toronto. I know RCMP isn't great too, but they're still much better than Toronto Police. The problem is Toronto Police is limited on resources, RCMP won't have the same issue.

Officer safety has obviously become more important than ever before. I would love to see a return to civilian safety being more important, currently in Canada we are sitting at 30 officer deaths between the years of 2013-2022. the greatest number lost was 184 officers between the years of 1963-1982. Now if we look at civilians killed its 461 between 2000-2017, police average killing 26 people every year. Now these are just some death stats as police deaths are not caused just by people but by themselves and their reckless driving and pursuits. Which of course kills innocent civilians as well. In my work industrie we lose over 30 people a year. I am not anti-police but we have a problem when police protect themselves more than the people.

Here's an idea, how about cops cameras are left on constantly through their shift while being monitored live. Perhaps time spent at the donut shop while our vehicles are being theived could be accounted for. Talk about dropping the ball.
