I would take advantage of this all day everyday. This product does not work for me. So either this product doesn't' work or I have the funkiest body on the planet. I wish this worked for me!!
I left a comment in your podcast ( almost 7 hrs) of DB's final statement and the sentencing by Judge Dorow. The issue of mental illness was brought up numerous times. There is a case that is many years old of a 12 yr old boy, Jamarion Lawhorn, who stabbed and killed a 9 yr old boy. The outcome of the case demonstrates how justice can be served to the benefit of all parties. There is not a lot of video of this case, but enough exists for you, Emily, to create a podcast to show how the courts do work to come to a conclusion that is a win/win for those involved. Just a small project you may consider sharing with you substantial subscriber base, to leave us with a sense of, well, happiness, after the stressful trial of Darrell Brooks. Just something for your consideration Emily. I very much enjoyed your DB podcasts. Thank you.
Do Judges discuss the proceeding of the day with other judges. Maybe receive counsel and suggestions from retired judges at night. Is something like this allowed?
Someone on Natalie's stream last night pointed out that no matter how irate or ridiculous he got, he's never dropped a cursey word. That seems like a fairly compelling argument that he's in full control of his behavior. Also, I know she can't, but I desperately want her to tell him "we do not require you to consent or understand"
I have felt throughout this trial that the Judge's actions and that of the prosecution have been absolutely necessary to establish a clear and irrefutable record of the court proceedings to ensure as much as possible.....There Are NO Lawful Grounds for Retrial On Appeal.... She has been patient and masterful in handling Darrell Brooks. She and the prosecution put up with this garbage from Brooks for Their Community, it was never for him. They took the kicks in the teeth to end the suffering and start the healing of this heartbroken community. BRAVO JUDGE!! I believe he will have no grounds for appeal.
The way he gets what he wants is he wears people down until they give up... definition of BELLIGERENT! Then he makes her start second guessing herself and she starts over explaining where upon he will latch onto one new thing she may say and then attacks that one thing BELLIGERENTLY!
I went back to watch the day DB demanded to represent himself. The judge was extremely clear on her instructions, she asked him several times if he was sure he wanted to represent himself. She told him multiple times that he would not receive any help from the judge, prosecuter or outside counsel. Hearing all this, was he still wanting to represent himself and he said yes. Throughout this trial I believe she is taking extra care to ensure DB cannot claim a mistrial.
I am only now catching up on Emily's streams of this. Did she stream when he said he would represent himself?? If not, do you know where I can just watch the actual footage??
@@DesignsByAngee I don’t know if you have found these yet but the videos are on Law& Crime Network RU-vid channel they have a whole playlist of videos from the beginning
@@bd5294 Thank you so much 🙏🏾😊 I actually ended up watching everything from a local (to that area) news YT channel. I forget the name of it. I feel for everyone who had to sit through his 🐃💩. But I'm glad it's over and justice was served.
Can you imagine being a juror on this case & trying not to let his attitude & continually being removed not affect your decision??? After the first 5 times of being removed b/c of his outbursts I’d be like - guilty!!!
It's been hard to listen to the judge giving him so many chances but it has probably made the likelihood of a retrial impossible. If these families ever had to go through this again it would be an abomination!
@Up Mayo From rhe Judge's perspective, she wants him to be present, to protect his rights, and to avoid appellate issues. Why change her stance on the final day?
I had students just like him, and my first year or so looked like this court room. I’ve been wondering why this case makes me feel sad and it’s coz for the longest I’ve thought, “what’s the point in what I’m doing?” And the answer is this. So those kids learn now to not grow up to be this.
I chose to teach in private school (where we did not have students like this), but later I substituted in some public middle schools where the students were just like him. I left in tears, fully exhausted at the end of the day, and also thought: what’s the point? There were only a few students in every class who really wanted to learn. He sounds like he is a product of the inner city school system. His conduct is very purposeful; this is exactly how a lot of them acted.
Being from Wisconsin myself, this news was terrifying when it broke. Ill be happy to see justice done. I just feel sorry for the judge and the court for the way it's been going.
its CRYSTAL CLEAR to me hes used to manipulate and gaslight women.. also he was clearly never told no as a child so now as an adult hes simply NOT ABLE to handle it
DB: I never said I DID want to testify and I never said I DIDN’T want to testify 😉 RUSH: And if you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice 😏
It boggles the mind! How many of us grew up walking on parades so proud and happy. How many of us watched out children in parades cheering them on. So sad, my heart is with everyone grieving
It’s like the Judge is the mom and the Bailiff is the dad. The Judge sends him to “timeout” then the Bailiff talks to him and Mr. Brooks after talking to the Bailiff decides he will act right. It’s a never ending cycle.
Emily, I was so excited you started covering this, you are the only person I can listen to talking about these cases. Your voice and way you explained is so clear, funny and no nonsense. Your the best ❤
I have a quote for Mr ‘don’t call me Darrel Brooks’. Power is not controlling other people. Power is controlling yourself. Trying to control other people is the first sign that you are entirely out of control.Controlling others is what weak people think power looks like.
As I was watching this video, I googled some articles on this case and lo and behold, Emily was quoted in a Newsweek article. You are super awesome Emily! Love your channel!❤
Nearly every time he was delivered documents from the court - he said "I didnt get them" or he tier them apart - through them at the floor or garbage pan. Saying/demanding that these documents could have been delivered to he jail - show his "I'm superior to your Honor". All seen at the court cameras -
I’m really enjoying your commentary! I live very near where this atrocity occurred. That being said, I’m following this case closer than any other case I have followed. I’m thankful that the weather was too chilly for me to attend the parade. I’m so glad I didn’t have to witness this horrific act! God Bless all the families and victims🙏❤️🦋
The ONLY time he 'shows' emotion, is opening & closing statements which he uses to emotionally manipulate the jury. This sociopath sat and watched the video pieced together at the end of the prosecutions closing, which was footage of him running over and hitting 67 people, and didn't show one bit of emotion or remorse. Footage that had one of the prosecutors in tears and the Judge obviously holding back her own emotions. Yes, utter disregard for human life.
This judge aggravated me at times by engaging him and not taking proper control of her court through most of the trial, but she has had my sympathies and deserves a month long vacation. And as always, her hair looks great. I WISH I knew what that was like, lol
He brings back so many memories of working as a nurse in inpatient psych, when working with a patient that is engaging in manipulative behavior. It’s mentally exhausting. You can NOT give an inch, but I understand why she’s trying to balance things.
It would've been hilarious if the prosecution and judge all broke into mime every time he pretended the headsets weren't working!!! bwahahahahaha! Joke's on you Mr. B!
I have to assume she had her reasons for giving in so often, however, it seemed akin to a controlled burn or a retractable dog leash (dangerous BTW, the leash not the burn) in that she ultimately had 100% control, she just exercised it as she saw fit.
I’d like to think maybe the judge is giving him so many tries to come back so if he tries to get an appeal, there’s absolutely no question she gave him AMPLE tries and AMPLE opportunity and to also have more than enough examples that he was BELLIGERENT.
She has to mute him to finish her instructions, why does she think he’ll be quiet when he is back in the courtroom? Also, he never made a pledge and she required it. This part is very frustrating!
I love the fact you are doing the case. I have had a hard time following the story since it unfortunately happened in 2021. I didn't think I knew that much but hearing you make me smile.
Hi Emily! Love you, love your channel! To answer a question posited by a member earlier, *yes, you can get permanent dismissal from jury duty!* Mine is for physical/medical disability. I have more than three of the qualifying conditions/diseases.
Living in the UK, I’ve been told by my parents to sign up for that ASAP, since I would be a _terrible_ juror. Autism, narcolepsy, anxiety, OCD, and self-diagnosed ADD would cause me to miss about 90% of all evidence and testimony presented, even if the trial only lasted a day or two.
@@TheTownNarcoleptic I got dismissed for narcolepsy in the US! I was called for jury duty like an hour away in a city and there was no designated parking so I would have had to find that. I was like there's no way I could even make it to court safely AND on time, let alone stay awake when I got there. Fortunately my doctor wrote a really good note for me talking about my horrible sleep inertia, microsleeps, and resulting "lapses in judgment". I think that last phrase was pretty significant! Sad but 100% true
The judge probably has to take so many breaks because of several reasons. Two of these being a huge coffee cup and this guy is infuriating enough to cause anyone to get the trots from so much stress.
Would it be fair to say that..... Grounds! Subject matter jurisdiction Jury can nullify I object to being called that name My 5th amendment rights My 1st amendment rights Objection! Leading! Objection! Supposition! Tacit agreement For the record How am I meant to have done x when y? I do not understand. I do not consent.
Judge Darow has had a heavy lift keeping this trial moving. Each step she has documented his choice to not properly prepare and behave. She is determined he will not be getting a retrial.
Sixth Amendment appears to guarantee the right to confront *witnesses* NOT "accusers" - is there something that supports Brooks' assertion that his accuser must be an individual not an entity?
Someone asked about Emily’s mug so I had a look and at the Stanley store a similar product is called “Adventure Tough-To-Tip Admiral’s Mug” and is about 20 oz
He got mad when she didn’t go for the stupid ford lawsuit and refused to answer. He told her he didn’t have to answer in the other room. So he did understand!!!
I said all along... mess with his food if he acts up. Make him late for dinner so he gets bologna sandwiches. Use up his lunch time with busywork. Etc . Penalties for behavior.
Ok. So I got invested in this case with ya all! O_O I have watched all the vids up to this vid. I had to take a full 10 also. Please don't apologize for crying!
In real life, I would not argue with this man. I would make my statement and not respond to his BS. However, in Court with a felony defendant who is representing himself, yet who seems not to know what he's doing, the standards may be different. The judge has to make it clear she has given him every chance. I even suspect, though I'm not sure, that his thought process is too disorganized even to produce a coherent delusion, let alone grasp reality.
Okay, completely off topic - but I’m going on a work trip tomorrow and (I’m pretty sure I have adhd) my whole packing process was a mess and I lost complete oversight of what i had and what I needed - anyways, your sponsorship today reminded me that I forgot to pack deodorant, so thank you for that! :D
Hmmmm... If you're packing for a trip that far ahead, ADHD might not be an issue.... 🤔 I'm very kidding. Everyone's presentation is different, and in mine - while I've certainly _intended_ and _tried_ to prepare like that, I have not yet succeeded. Hope it was a good trip! ✌️🍍
I continue to wonder what the world the sovereign citizens want would look like. I picture something like this: "You have been found guilty of multiple homicides, we're going to sentence you to-" "Actually, I don't want to be found guilty." "Oh, understandable. Have a nice day."
I'm new to the concept, but are SovCits people who think they are their own country in a legal sense? If that is his base position, then how can he chastise the judge on whether or not she is a good public servant? And how can he keep claiming amendment rights if he is not a US citizen? Dude is trying to take bites from every side of the cherry.
@@TiffyVella1in way it is rather complex and not: SovCit's thinks that only rules/laws from 1773 or even back to Magna Charta complies to their way of living: That gives some challenges such as: Only a living person can make a complain (at that time - are you ready then you cannot complain ~ "Wild West thinking".) Subject Matter Juristiction : its only rules/laws from 1773 or Magna Charta there are valid - (most common: traveling ~ driving) - at those days no carrige had a licens plate - nor was there an obligation to pay taxes on a carrige. Who have the juristiction at that time? It was the travelling judge - and often had cases cross the border between different states.
I feel so sorry for the Judge, Jury and Prosecutors. This man is un fing real. He never should have let his attorneys go because he knows nothing. He’s abusive and making a complete ass out of himself
This is a lot like parenting a difficult child/teen. You have to be tougher than this and just don't bend or give extra chances. They heard you the first time. He's playing a game with her. He's likely been practicing this on his parents and romantic relationships all of his life. My guess anyway.
I would love a time stamp of all his hijinks as I want to hear Emilys commentary in those moments. I dont want to miss them when i have this on in the background as I tidy. Id love to just be able to nip to some of them and then just enjoy the stream as a whole
I predict DB is going to be so disruptive and try to stall so much at the time of his closing argument that he’s going to have right to giving a closing argument forfeited.
I’m amazed at how many times Brooks wore the Judge down. She actually gave in to him on different occasions. He twisted her NO into getting what he wanted (which was to have her address his trivia immediately). She wanted to address it after she examined the issue on her break, but he twisted her all around. I think she’s smart enough to know he’s playing mind games on her. No Judge should be abused like this in the name of getting a fair trial. In the end, Brooks DOES repeatedly bring the issue of jury nullification directly to the jury. How can he cause a mistrial at this point?
Yeah the situation is exhausting. But the judge's bargaining has a real purpose behind it, and that is to minimise any chance that this arsehole will drag it out afterwards via appeals. I suspect that Brooks has "won" over everyone in the past by grinding them down, exhausting them with his barrage of denial and bs counter-questioning. This may be the first time he has met anything like his match. It's really hard to watch Dorow continue to try to entice a pledge out of Brooks but I know why she did so.
He should have kept his lawyers, then, if he doesn't understand anything. He totally understood he wasn't familiar with the law before wanting to representing himself. His own fault if he doesn't understand. 🤦♀️
I’ve recently found your channel-I’m sooooo stoked that I did. I LOVE your fucking videos. You are a fucking Queen 👑 Thanks for being you!! I HOPE YOU HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY! Thanks for making mine better🙋🏻♀️❤️
Even though the judge still seems lenient, today she has cracked down. I hope she is getting good counsel about how to proceed letting Brooks do his closing since he has indicated he will break the rules.
My heart goes out to Judge Dorow...I hope someone has had a strong drink waiting for her each night when she's gotten home!!! I deal with people in healthcare like this regularly, but usually they either end up intubated & sedated or walking out AMA. She doesn't have either of those options.
This judge is too kind to be honest. She has given way, WAY too many chances, and tried to actually help him way more than he deserved. I think most judges would've dealt with him more harshly but the way she has managed him has, imo, allowed him to be even more distruptive.
@@tamararutland-mills9530 It would be fascinating to see if that were true or not, like if it were possible to have a sliding doors situation and watch both situations unfold for a comparison. Not possible, of course, but in my gut I think you are right. Brooks seems to have controlled women in the past to his own benefit, and if that worked for him in the past he will continue. I do see why Judge Dorow has acted as she has, and she is sucking it up in order to prevent there being any chance of Brooks dragging every victim back again for a retrial. She is professional and kind, absorbing the disrespect in the short term in order to minimise abuse to the victims in the longer term.
In my opinion the judge is making very sure his appeal's will be hard for him to win. I have a lot of respect for this lady!! I would have lost it with this man long time ago.
She's giving him too many chances and arguing with him for too long. There's nothing she can tell him to shut him up. She should just remove him as soon as he says one more word. No appeals court is going to find she was unfair to this man child
How can someone take over a court like this. Being afraid that he may say the wrong thing in closing? This man murdered 6 people in cold blood, how is this trial turned into a sideshow.
This is his fault, he decided to represent himself! Now we’re at the end of the trail and he knows he’s going to be convicted, just by what he said, and now he’s delaying, delaying, delaying, …….delay delay delay. Blah Blah Blah Blah 🥗
I remember Virginia kept trying to summon me to jury duty while I was moving between states while trying to find a place to stay, but they always sent it before I had been in state for six months so thankfully I didn’t have to go
