American singers please take note. The National anthem should be sang just like she did...amazing, powerful yet simple, no drama. Very respectful! Thank you Miss Lea Salonga!
Thank you so much hi new friend here i visit your house hope you too see you i have good presentation like a positive with love to the nature that i can showcase the beautiful country of the Philippines thanl you and mabuhay.
Yes. It should be. I don't if America has a law that prohibits singers to alter tge National Anthem but in our country there is and you can be sued if you alter the national anthem.
I agree. Philippines once part of the United States and the US flag national anthem sung for so many years during the commonwealth era and also American english is their second language until now.
You? Isnt it me?hahaha... Okay, both of us, there are lot of seats in front row anyway. And, sorry i cannot say if you and the mysterious blue colar guy are look alike. I cannot dload any of your photo.
Thank you for loving and support to all talented philipino im new here done to my part hope you to because i have a good presentation to you and its positive hope you like it.
1:26 The 'free' part is very difficult. Many singers do 2 things to at least make it sound nice: First, they slowly proceed to singing the letter 'e' instead of 'i', or they use head note. Seeing Lea's performance was astounding, because she didn't need to switch sounds or anything. Bravo.
Gorgeous tone, wondrous clarity, perfect pitch, impeccable control, and a clear respect for an anthem that isn't even her country's. Thank you, Lea. And thank you, dear uploader.
Learned this through our own. Our country (Philippines) is very strict in observing proper way of singing our national anthem, its in our constitution. 🙂
In the Philippines, its not acceptable to sing the national anthem other than how it is supposed to be sung. You could get fined if you are a popular singer and had sung the anthem in a wrong manner. That is what miss Salonga did too in the Star Spangled Banner, utmost respect to the national hymn needs to be observed, and not the singer's own version of the song.
Jin Salanguste sung is the right word, past participle of sing For example, to be given. Given is the past participle of give. Sang is past tense, sung is past participle, to be sung is correct.
Because she was very secure about the beauty of her Voice, she did not rely on any vocal gymnastics. Definitely no one in America can ever be this FLAWLESS. Needless to say Gaga’s performance in 2021 was apocalyptic. Whitney and Mariah were also great though... But this is more Crisp and Charming.
Wow, I really agree that the national anthem should be sung like she did. Very clear, very decent, not wearing fancy costume and no props. Thank you miss lea salonga. Very very good job.
Legendary! Maybe Lea Salonga should pay tribute to The Carpenters one day, it would be interesting to watch. On a side note, I don't have to watch this video to end to know that Lea will slay a US national anthem, she is a Broadway Superstar and a Tony Award winner
I really love her voice. Nobody sings like this nowadays. It’s so clean and clear. I used to like the soulful, r&b singing style with those runs. I thought that it was cool and tried to sing like that. Now I really appreciate this clean singing. Just hit the notes, no excessive runs, no over sing. Nothing less or more. It’s just perfect balance..... or maybe i’m just getting old....🤣🤣😆😆
This is how we all should sing our own national anthems: clear, respectful, heartfelt. Let's not do versions because national anthems are supposed to be sung by the citizens (everyone) together and not just the person holding the mic. How can everyone follow your (person holding the mic) lead if you do your own, say, RnB or high note version? #justsaying
Bec in the US in the school or any establishment they do not sing unlike in the Philippines offices, school, movie house and mall before they open they will sing the national anthem.
Filipinos are trained to sing the national anthem as solemnly as possible. We have to respect the anthem. So we can't make our own rendition. But that's here in the Philippines. I am not sure in the US. Sad to say but Fergie's and Steve Tyler's were the worst but I guess they have the freedom to interpret the song as their own.
@@b17valenciamcjanreyd.8 I didn't say we can't have a high rendition for Lupang Hinirang Kasi mataas siya. What I am saying is ung paiba iba ng rendition na parang ginagawa nila sa US. We have a law that we need to follow it in accordance to Julian Felipe's arrangement and composition.
I remember my father told me that they were only allowed to sing American anthem at school not Philippine anthem. He used to sing it when i always asked the story before 😊
Yes, our parents also always tell us that when they were in school in 1920's, before classes starts they will sing the Philippine Anthem then the US National Anthem after. And you're not allowed to speak Tagalog or your native dialect while in school.
Simply amazing! Magnificent voice... Wide and clear... I hope she will be the one who will sing the Philippine and USA National Anthems this upcoming Pacquiao-Mayweather Fight!
This US of A's National Anthem has been aired a lot of time in the Philippines, particularly during Pacman's Fight, which is why in a way, this has been familiar to a lot. However, this is the sole version which made me understand what the anthem truly articulates. This is amazing
You can hear the joy and happines in their claps and shouts, as soon as lea sung the last word of the hymn which is the "brave", prior to that, the audience also sings brave in its original tune, anticipating lea would retain the original tune and will not go for any acrobatics, the moment lea sung the "brave" in its original tune, the joy of the audiences thru their claps and shouts are deafening, they are so happy to hear their national anthem without any acrobatics and unnecessary belts, LEA SALONGA, you are truly one of the best voices to ever walk the Earth 🤗🤗🤗
Live or record she sounds the same every note is perfect not like some " award winning so called singers" they sound good in the record but if they sing live it's different their voice and note are not the same...and oh some even got caught lipsynking the National Anthem lol.
A CAPELLA at that! Stunning, just stunning. Whitney Houston's 1991 version was also unbelievably memorable; she even outsung the Florida Orchestra. LOL No way to choose between these two.

Very crystal voice and notes are very clear so cold and fresh to listen to hear sang the US National Anthem 🙏.. congratulations 🎉 Ms. Lea Salonga . You nailed it 🎉
Inspiring and stirring! I don’t know why many singers try to put their own spin on the national anthem. It’s our national anthem, people. It’s not an adult contemporary tune. It’s not a pop hit. It’s not a jazz number. It’s not a rock sing. It doesn’t need to be altered, but sung as it was written. All event organizers have to consider is getting a singer with a glorious set of pipes who can sing with conviction.
