Beethoven's Moonlight sonata has one of the most loved chord progressions in all music. But what is it? In this video we're going to learn every one. Think of think like 1-2 years of college theory crammed into one hour video. You're going to hear some beautiful music and learn a ton!
If the pacing is too fast for you I did the same thing with Bach's prelude in C. That video is simpler and I move a little slower through the concepts: • Learn EVERY chord in B...

Thank you for making these videos! I've learned more about chord progressions in 2 days ( the Bach prelude in C video got me into this ) than I have in the last 2 years of piano playing. I like how you explain what they would typically resolve to . At least in classical and barouque style so far

That's so cool to hear. Hope these chord videos really help to de-mystify harmony. I love chords and progressions so I'm glad you got something out of it!

You kids today have no idea how lucky you are. When i was young, and dinosaurs roamed the Earth, and I was curious about how music works, my resources were limited to the "library" (which I cannot say without a derisive snort) in my small town. And the Encyclopedia Brittanica. I was simply stuck. I had nothing. Now, we have people like Ryan saying, oh, so you want to learn about harmony in Bach? Pull up a chair.

Nice! I love hearing that. Hope you have a great time learning. In case you didn't check it out I did a video a few months back with Chords in Bach prelude in C. It's really similar to this one but obviously different chords.

Hi Ryan - I’ve watched two of your videos so far and as a fellow musician and music fanatic I must say I really appreciate and enjoy what you do. I hope this doesn’t sound too crazy but I’ve been working on new material and I was wondering if I could contact you somehow and send you some of it? It would be an honor to have you listen and comment. Either way, keep up the great work!

Hi Bjorn, thanks for the kind words. Very glad you've found the videos helpful and good. I don't have a coaching system set up, though it's something I've considered for the future. It would be a fun thing to offer. I do have a Masterclass video series I'm trying to start, where listeners send in a clip of themselves playing and I make a video commenting on it. I've done one of such videos already and it was a lot of fun. Here's the link so you can see what I'm talking about: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9Fvz9Pvo4iM.htmlfeature=shared Either way, so glad you're enjoying the videos.

@@ryanabshier no love for the 2nd movement? I just spent over 6 months working on that one.

@@michaelasbury5473 glad to make you laugh! 2nd movement would be a beast for a chord analysis video. You know if you've studied it, practically every note is a new chord. 4 chords in the first 5 beats!!! I - V - V7/V - V in literally two seconds. But the real answer is 2nd Movement: no body knows...
