In this video, "Can Eating Healthy Prevent Miscarriage?" I delve into the topic of miscarriage and the importance of a healthy diet for reproductive health. As a reproductive endocrinologist, I've witnessed firsthand the emotional and physical toll that miscarriage can have on individuals and couples.
In this video, I discuss why miscarriages happen and how I approach evaluating and caring for patients who have experienced one or more miscarriage. It's important to note that miscarriage is no one's fault, and seeking help from a qualified medical professional is crucial.
I also share insights from my book, "Not Broken," and discuss the different types of testing available to diagnose and potentially prevent miscarriages.
The second half of the video focuses on the link between nutrition and miscarriage. I discuss a meta-analysis that revealed an association between a healthy diet and a lower risk of miscarriage. I also highlight a Fertility and Sterility article that found a correlation between specific foods and a higher chance of successful IVF outcomes.
Ultimately, the video aims to emphasize the importance of a balanced and healthy diet in promoting reproductive health. As I mention, perfection is not necessary, but striving for 80% can go a long way in achieving optimal health. Hello Doctor, Thank you for all the knowledge. Your videos provide lot of strength. What should be the time gap between back to back egg retrieval cycle? How does it impact the body?

Thank you for this video. I thought I was pretty healthy, but this is encouraging me to eat better. I’ve had a miscarriage at 6 weeks and a ruptured ectopic at 8 weeks. We are trying again with both hope and fear

Thank you so much for your detailed explanation based on data. You are helping me so much in bringing my rainbow baby to the world. By the way, there's a reason why us Mediterraneans have one of the highest life expectancy rates in the world! Specially my country, Spain.

Thank you very much Dr. Shahine for these educational information. Very hepful! What type of grains do you recommend?Do oatmeals and cereals contain a hight amount of chlormequat? You mentioned it once that oatmeal are not necessarily good for reproductive health.

I do not have a strong recommendation for types of grains but recommend in general a balanced diet focused on less processed foods. See my videos on nutrition and blog posts at drlorashahine.com for a review of the research. Thank you for watching

Hi Dr. I just lost my first IVF pregnancy, at week 7, no heartbeat detected. My doc plan for second trial in my next couple of period as i still have 2 embryos. My question is, using the same batch of embryo, is percentage of misscarriage recurrent higher?

My wife just had her transfer. She is vegan. What are your views on vegan diet and pregnancy? She has cut out highly processed foods. Eats fruits, vegetables, and grains, beans, lentils, etc for protein. Also garden of life flavorless protein shakes. She eats everything you say minus the fish, and eggs. What are your views on it?

This is a great question. I would advise you to consult your medical provider, as I can't give medical advice to personal situations on social media. I have a lot of content on the subject on this channel, website drlorashahine.com, RU-vid and Instagram account @drlorashahine that are great sources for you. Thank you for watching

My only successful transfer came after a month of being a hermit and doing whole 30. It ended in an anembryonic miscarriage but i think if i can do it again but better, i can maybe have a successful transfer.

I am so sorry for your loss. Be sure not to blame yourself - east to fall into a shame spiral and restrict too much. Make healthy choices most of the time but be kind to you.

Please, please, PLEASE eliminate the sound effects and fast graphics from your videos. Some of us are sensitive to these (so much pain), and there are many people for these are worse than just bothersome. Honestly, these only distract from the delivery of very good information. You and your words are the focus, as rhey should be.

Great content but please no more swishes and animated bits or noise pops, really distracting and gets frustrating by the end. I listened and didn't watch, found the content helpful as always and thank you for putting this out there

This is my problem with her videos. What q lovely professional she seems to be, with a pleasant presentation, etc. Then all these sounds distract me, hurt my ears, and annoy my senses. Some of us are sensitive to this stuff. Amazing that she doesn't seem to pay any attention to that.
