Instead of removing the yarn string (core) out first, you could just tie one end of it to the paracord and as you pull out the yarn it will pull in the cable. Makes the process a lot faster and easier.
@___echo___
@___echo___ Год назад
If the cable just barely fits that might not work though
@grootbatavia

@@___echo___ Strip 2 cm and attach the yarn to the inner wires, then pull, will work a treat, even if tight.
@ga28282
@ga28282 11 месяцев назад
You are wise. definitely will work and save time. If the cable just barely fits, that is all the more reason why you will need to pull it through. Similar to how electricians pull cables through conduits. This technique would be mandatory in a longer run. You have to pull it through and that yard core is very strong.

I have made some research and it turns out it's better to use shielded cable, such as UL2547. The shielding is supposed to have contact with the metal "cages", which are placed around the connectors in this video. Such practice would prevent the cable from working as antenna and spreading electromagnetic interference.

Don't be afraid of putting enough flux paste/gel on the pins before soldering tinned wires to them. Blips/bumps will look much better. Otherwise the oxydation does its job and it is difficult to solder.

for tinning first heat up the wires and then add solder its easy and requires less heat

@fizo can you go into detail about the note mentioned that said a 56k ohm resistor would be necessary in between pins 2 and 3 for the usb C soldering job. I'm thinking that is an important detail that nobody fully understood. Do you buy it with the resistor pre installed? What is the purpose of it and what are the purchasing options, or when do we need it? Did your cable have one? Sorry if this has been discussed already or if some of my facts are wrong.

Unfortunately this is no USB cable as it is clearly out of spec, especially regarding the lack of shielding and drain wire. A quote from the USB 2.0 Spec (Rev. 2.0) says "Cable construction must contain a braided outer shield and a metallic inner shield. A drain wire of 28 AWG must be incontact with both shields" Furthermore, a USB Type-C to USB 2.0 Standard-A Cable Assembly shall have (according to 3.5.2, Note 5 of USB Type C Spec Rev. 2.2) shall have "Shield and GND grounds [...] connected within the USB Type-C and USB 2.0 Standard-A plugs on both ends of the cable assembly"
