Hey everyone,
In this video, I give you a rundown on how I learned how to speak Swedish fluently after a year and some very useful tips in learning a new language. I've gotten this question a lot and I thought it might be helpful if I share my strategies and techniques on my journey to becoming fluent in Swedish. Pardon my lighting tho as the "sunny" weather here in Stockholm may be quite erratic and I use natural light as well when filming.
Anyhow, hope I inspire you to learn a new language today! Enjoy!

As a swede I find it so impressive to see people learn my home language. Keep going! Feel free to ask me about anything in our culture, fellow Swedish learners! (small tip, duolingo swedish is very old, we don't talk like that anymore here, altruogh some of it is correct)

thank you! i actually used duolingo alot before i learned swedish in school and i did notice the sentence construction was a little stiff and of course eventually realized it was more old school. It still helped a lot tho :) thank you for the support!

ok here’s my problem : i’m Saudi who want to learn swedish ( which what i did , still beginner) . but i couldn’t find many resources for swedish language available. only 2 books ( that was overwhelming) . so eventually i start with these books ( because you know , that’s the only available for me) . after few steps i felt good of what i’ve learned and i need someone to practice with . but unfortunately i couldn’t find anyone from there to correct me or to practice with me , even though i’m offering to help them with arabic or english. and the frustrating thing here is like 5 of them ( 5 persons) say to me the exact thing : oh are you learning swedish? nice for what ? are you planning to immigrate here ? oh we have enough immigrants from Syria and arab world ! i was like: whattt ? why do you think that the only reason for someone to learn a language is because of immigration? because i wasn’t planning to! i was Off after that. i felt like rejection. i know i shouldn’t let this discourage me . but it was frustrating known that people judging you and want you to feel unwelcome to know their culture .

I'm so sorry you went through that! I'm Swedish (but I've lived out of Sweden for so long I have to relearn the language 😩) I promise we aren't all assholes like that, its really cool when people from other parts of the world want to learn about Sweden and our language! There is a discord server from a guy on youtube that teaches Swedish called "Say It In Swedish", on the server there are some voice chats and messaging forms that you are meant to try to only speak Sweden to practice. There's an app as well called HelloTalk that's apparently good for talking with native speakers to learn the language. Good luck!

As always Titin. Good, advice for expats/immigrants on how to learn Swedish. There are some dialects or accents that are difficult for us who are born here that are difficult to understand. For example the typical conflict is some of the verius norrbottniska dialect vs skånska. Or the slang word they have in the söder om söder dialect.

Thank the author of the channel for making this beautiful and useful video for us! Many people are embarrassed to speak a foreign language if they have no speaking skills. People are afraid to hear criticism from others in their address. It all comes from having a psychological complex - to make a mistake. But, after all, he who does nothing is not wrong! In Yuriy Ivantsiv's workshop "Polyglot Notes. Practical tips for learning foreign language" states that we need to talk as much as possible: with yourself, with the mirror, with inanimate objects, with children and with pets. Find an interlocutor in real life or online. Talk without shyness. People won't care how you speak. They understand that you are a foreigner, as long as they understand you. They may even acknowledge your progress in their language and compliment you. However, always be prepared for criticism of your speaking skills. If you have the will to speak, you will gain an interesting interlocutor to consolidate your knowledge. Everyone is strewn with mistakes - don't be afraid to learn from them. As the Latin wisdom says, "walk and thou shalt not go astray". In the book "Polyglot Notes" by Yuriy Ivantsiv an entire chapter is devoted to the development of spoken language. Here you will find many useful tips and each student can choose a technique that suits him or her best! I wish you all the best of luck in your language learning!

Hej! Jag kommer från Grekland, jag lära mig det svenska språket och älskar det! From what you wrote, I assume that you are a Swede, or at least a Swedish language learner. Coming from a similar background, from a small country with a minority language (an extremely difficult and unpopular one too) spoken only by Greeks, I do get why you may feel this way. Yet, at least from my point of view, Swedish is a very rich and interesting language to learn. Also, to my ears, it sounds great due to its musicality and special tones. Learning the language mostly by myself, doing it just for the fun of it, helped me to understand the culture and the mentality of the Swedes a little bit better, to love and appreciate them much much more than before, and to get inspired by all the good things the Swedish culture has to offer to the world. So, if you're a Swede, tusen tack for being one, and for contributing to this wonderful culture that gives me food for thought every day for more than a year now. That's my two cents. Hope that it made you feel a little bit better. :)

Swedish grammar is complicated because it’s not very clear. There are a lot of weird conjugations and rules for ”endings” of words. Also it all depends on which language family you’re accustomed to. I guess any indo european language with latin alphabet will be hard for someone from Asia. But sure compared to Mandarin, Swedish is cake. I think Swedish is on par with German.

Hi, actually it doesnt matter here if youre married or not... here partner and husband is the same. important is you get to prove your relationship.. either way, doesnt matter din if you marry here or sa pinas because your application is still in a cue. Being married to someone doesnt give an advantage. Its more likely easier if you have children together or if you have lived together for a certain amount of time 😃 also its important that the swede meets the maintenance requirements (house, salary, etc) kasi even if married kayo, you could still be denied if di nya mameet yon 😄
