Before the iteration of the game we are all familiar with there was the Bandai Officially licensed Yu-gi-oh! Game which is closer to the original manga rules. Speaking of which, there are only thirteen standard rules in the game. Let's get to them!

Well, the game was meant to be played as a simultaneous turn game, and monster/character cards were meant to battle only once, exceptions being when the card states otherwise. After Bandai's license to Yu-Gi-Oh products was revoked, they reworked the basis of the game and it became the 1999 Digimon Card Game, which was very popular with almost daily local tournaments. In the end, the writer of the wikia article tried too hard to fit the rules into what we call commonplace today that we cannot understand the rules. It's far better to use a direct translation to the rule text in this case.

I have made my own rule tweaks that make it a lot more fun. The part that gets me though is how you are supposed to play combo cards like the wicked sisters in the default rules

@@almightyk11 You play the last material and then play the combination above them. However, the other materials must be on the field before.

I don't think the Konami version is that complicated. The idea of the rules are simplified with Beginner's guide. (Okay, I was stumped on BANISH and TOKEN) (Something the beginner's guide never addressed) (How do you BANISH from the graveyard)

I see a lot of people saying that they want a simulator or way to play this online. Just saying that this is available to play on Table Top Simulator, along with about every single other obscure dead TCG in existence

So if your monster does destroy the opponents monster and survives can it attack again next turn ? Or does it battle once and then just remove from Play

She only appears in 1 chapter of the manga, but when Toei made the original anime (the one people call season 0) they expanded her role. Since the DM anime skips the early chapters and goes straight into Duelist Kingdom, there was no reason to include her.

Melody (miho) was a minor character that the original yugioh anime (not duel monsters) expanded into a main character. Her plot was skipped entirely. Other characters whose plots were skipped includes that one kid who kaiba bullies with his obelisk at the start of battle city and kaiba & mokuba's butler/caretaker that was given some screentime in a couple of flashbacks during the Noah filler arc. Both of whom were 2 of kaiba's game masters he sent after yugi in between their first duel and the death T arc (death T was the arc in which the "exodia obliterate" duel is from episode 1 of duel monsters is basically a spliced up version of 2 different duels a dozen or two chapters apart). Melody does, however, show up in an early game or two as a duelist, and was name dropped in season 4 of gx - so she does exist in the DM-Arc V continuity at least.

It would be interesting if there was an online simulator, such as EdoPro, that would allow us to play this old version of the game somehow. I like how "obscure" and more "monster" & adult the style was, as oppose to the excessive lolis we keep getting to this day. This also reminds me I always wanted a simulator for Dungeon Dice Monsters as well. Ah, wishes...

God, imagine if this shit was brought overseas instead of the TCG. YGO would be even more of a laughing stock in the card game community than it is now. And people think the LOB format is bad.
