Sell- offs happen. Purges happen. Lifestyles, responsibilities, tastes and hobbies change over time.

I think this is my favorite video of yours! It is absolutely none of my business as to why someone would sell off their luxury items nor is it any of my business if they make lots of large purchases. I have parted with a few items to pay off bills. For example, I was in a bad accident last fall and I had to pay medical bills that insurance did not cover. It is interesting how some youtubers expect the audience to continue watching lux videos once people have subscribed and then stop responding to certain people's comments who no longer watch all of their videos. Tastes change and people change. I don't watch the same TV shows that I did 5 years ago. I know some people have stopped being into lux goods because of safety issues and I'm so tired of the comments that say it doesn't matter what bag you are wearing and that wearing expensive bags, jewelry and watches don't make one a target. Well I just recently watched a video where Theresa Roemer and Fab said that times have changed and that wearing those items absolutely would make them a target for robbery. Some of us don't want to save up for something we wouldn't wear often because of safety reasons. And the truth is with inflation, price increases,and the threat of layoffs, I am going to admit that I can't afford to buy lux items.. there I said it and I don't care if people say I'm poor and broke...whatever. And finally some responded to my comments in the past saying that if I give up buying coffee, then I can put that money aside and save up for a CC bag.....um no....giving up a cup of coffee 3 times a week would not enable me to save up 10k....and i absolutely don't want to give up my cup of coffee. Thank you for listening to my rant. ❤🎉

I love this comment! Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I was was very displeased to see how some of the commenters were disparaging the idea of selling items bc someone might need money. I find it just cruel and heartless. And while I don’t personally in my life feel unsafe, there are certain situations where I don’t want to carry obvious logos bc the ‘vibe’ is off…so I get it. Empathy first, and I hope we can just enjoy these things if we want to

This is the best video regarding the topic! I think the most ironic part of this debate are certain creators and audience members getting very upset about these videos being preachy about telling people to sell their bags while they themselves are preaching to do the opposite. I took the main video as the creator sharing their experience and telling their viewers it’s okay to go against the consumeristic cycle most seem to perpetuate, not them looking down at me. I can make my own decisions but it’s refreshing to see different point of views.

@seabreeze4559 I think it’s not for us to say what in her mind is false or not- internet creators are strangers. We can only know what they decide to show us. So it’s impossible to know! But maybe she’s still into jewelry? I’m not inclined to read into things that way 🤷🏽‍♀️

Sell 15-20 bags for 1 Rolls Royce. Why not? 🤷‍♀This is great nuance to add to this complex, deeply personal topic. I have 20 bags myself and I'm sometimes overwhelmed lol. I can empathize with people wanting to sell everything and my entire collection is worth less than a single LV bag. It's not always about the money.

First of all, I missed you second of all you’re 100% right about everything. I really appreciate your perspective, especially knowing your history in the industry. You speak with such nuance and tact. It’s actually really refreshing to hear as a viewer. My one and only comment is that I don’t want people to think that cosmetic surgery is a light matter. It is just a serious as any other type of surgery as far as the medical consequences and financial consequences. I understand that you can’t control sometimes when you break your leg or something like that, but the social, financial, and physical ramifications that you can face because of cosmetic surgery make it serious in my eyes. And I’m not saying you didn’t call it serious. I just want people to understand that in case there’s anyone who is easily influenced reading my comment please be intentional about your decision to get cosmetic surgery.

Thank you for this video! It was really sad to see how toxic some RU-vidrs could be when that video went viral about purging her luxury collection. It was like if she was leaving a cult, and the cult was in rage for that. It was insane. Everyone was showing their negative and hateful side. I stopped watching those RU-vidrs. I t was also sad to see the followers giving judgement on her, saying they don't believe her and she is fake, etc, but honestly it is nobody's business. If you don't like her or her message unfollow and don't watch her. Life goes on! We are talking about luxury items, not food and water 😂 some people just love drama

Great video! Always fascinating to hear your take. A lot of youtubers made reaction videos about that influencer who purged her bag collection, but many of their comments were either trite and clichéd, or worse, downright snide, mocking that poor woman who is obviously in the process of making major changes in her life. I really enjoyed listening to your video. It was interesting to learn about other women's reasons for why they let go of their designer bags. As for me, I can foresee me selling my collection of work totes (almost 20) once I retire. I try to tell myself to stop buying large totes, knowing I probably will only use smaller bags in the future when I don't have to carry legal-sized folders anymore.

Ever since I left my old job, I have used ANY of my work bags 😭 they used to be the only bags I ever carried. Now I am stuffing things into too small bags or walking around with huge empty ones. I really need something in between !

Great video! Living in Europe, I would say luxury is more complicated here. Certainly you will see a lot of brand bags around, but individual style (ehem expensive niche bags) are more of a flex. Many people I know will shy away from obvious brands.

That’s what I gathered. I live in Miami which is much flashier . But I carried bags like my Le dix and my Belmont while I was there, I felt they were tasteful and appropriate there- they get no love in Miami at all but I ADOREthem

Welcome back, you were missed😊 I agree wholeheartedly with your views. It's like a less serious version of the circle of life with people cycling in and out of luxury bag shopping. I'm sure these sales are boosting the resale market, therefore giving newbies a chance to access luxury at a more affordable price point.

Another great video! I think viewers forget they aren’t just watching “RU-vidrs” or “Content creators” they’re watching actual humans with actual feelings and their speculative (or just down right rude) comment HURT! I remember watching a video from a creator talking about why they think another creator sold her bags. She started the video by saying “no judgement, these are just my thoughts” and then went on to be extremely rude! What’s worse, the comments weren’t even around the topic, they were used to rip into this poor woman who had done NOTHING except sell some bags. People were calling her fake & unrelateable?!? I couldn’t believe it. All I could think of was how that poor woman would feel coming across the video & seeing all the nasty comments. Everyone feels so safe behind the screen & seem to be able to distance themselves from what they’re saying and how it could make someone else feel. It’s ok to have an opinion, but the way we choose it express it is everything & sometimes, saying nothing is what’s best.

Absolutely right!! No one is any different/better/or worse than me. A follower count does not preclude someone from being treated with kindness. I cycle out of channels all the time! For me, I come to RU-vid for information and insight for the most part, so when creators I followed moved more into daily or lifestyle vlogs, I peaced out. And that’s fine! Very few of us are going to maintain our luxury spending forever. And once I cycle out of luxury entirely, I doubt I would continue on RU-vid at all- but sometimes creators need a pivot

Every time you show that hot pink Celine nano it reminds me of a gift I received (probably 40 yrs ago 😂) of some pointed toes stilettos that would have been a perfect match for that bag. I’m searching for the receipt in the box. Wasn’t one. Talk about a swing and a miss😂😂😂

Speaking to one of the points you made - As a British who also lived in Italy and France (where these bags are mostly made), I will say - you rarely see these bags because 1. SAFETY (pick-pocketing IS a thing and most countries in Europe are adapted for WALKING, not polluting the air driving everywhere) and 2. Its deemed as Gauche. Show off-y and very just inconsiderate to other peoples financial means. The whole old money thing or quiet luxury has BEEN a thing in Europe for DECADESSSS, you really don't know WHO has how much here because everyone is tasteful with what they show. Logomania was always a very American thing. Heck, if you wear COLOUR in some parts of Europe you will get ALL the stares lol. I've worn my Chanel bag very rarely because it just gets too much attention, I leave my designer bags for evenings out in restuarants or shows when you're surrounded by people of like-minded budgets so it makes no sense having collections upon collections.

That's very interesting! Definitely in-line with my few experiences of Europe. As an American we (at a societal level, to be clear- I am not referring to individuals) exhibit very little by way of common consideration for other's means (homelessness being a crime, highest incarceration rates, meager safety net, segregated public education, I could go on.....) so I guess when you think about it, it isn't surprising at all that there would be more flash of wealth here. Kind of a different subject but it's definitely interesting to make the comparison

I live in Sweden and not only are luxury goods not really prioritized here (can be considered ostentatious), but also people generally have less disposable income than in U.S. as salaries are lower here for the same work. Swedes and Europeans generally do not have credit cards so if you want something you have to save your little money for it over a long time.

I love hearing this perspective! I was specifically thinking about a couple I used to know from Stockholm saying that it is abnormal for women in the city to have cars. I don’t get my first car until the age of 30, and it completely opened up the amount of styles I would be able to wear!

Another reason that people might sell their luxury items is if they inherited a whole collection. I could see a situation where someone inherits some designer goods from a loved one that passed away. They might keep a a handful of items for themselves, and sell off whatever doesn’t appeal to them but is valuable enough to bring in a couple hundred dollars or more. I hadn’t heard this conversation happening online so this topic is new to me. It’s odd that there are people negatively reacting to popular content creators downsizing their designer collection. I think some of the negativity is coming from jealousy. They are projecting their own insecurity of not being able to have a large collection of design of goods and speculating (or hoping) that this content creator is having financial difficulties. People need to disassociate the idea of personal self worth with designer goods.

Selling a luxury bag is the same to me as selling a luxury watch or car to finance something else, and/or simply loosing interest. What’s all the fuss about??? Again, can be luxury or anything else that we are hoarding - simple declutterring is part of life to move on.

Honestly would be super interested in how you think it should be handled when your partner gifts you a fake bag and you find out it’s fake. Ask them where they got it? Give it back? Keep it without telling them and just appreciate the gift?

Whether it was a true mistake, or if they’re actually trying to manipulate you… a whole bunch of factors. So honestly I can’t say. For some of them, perhaps it was like crack. But I don’t take it like that at all. It’s a lot like drinking, if one other person decides it’s not right for them or they are abusing it- that shouldn’t really have bearings on how or if you decide to indulge 🤷🏽‍♀️ Unless it does make you question the decisions you’re making, then maybe it’s healthy. Either way, I welcome it
