How much battery will it loose unplugged during extreme cold warning of feels like -42 degrees Celsius (-43.6 Fahrenheit) and how long does it take to warm up an electric car during this super cold winter weather?

Excellent video. First time seeing the window issue in the many RU-vid videos I have seen about Tesla. Keep up the incredible work. Your channel is very valuable for people living in cold climates.

Let’s not forget that oil FREEZES at -35 Fahrenheit, also the closer you get to freezing oil, the thicker the oil is and we’re talking about significant wear and tear on the pistons that now have to operate with nearly frozen oil. An engine can only run a few seconds without oil before warping the pistons and damaging the whole engine block beyond repair. That’s why nearly frozen (non moving) oil is going to cause significant damage. People who live in these extreme temperatures use an engine block heater to prevent this. Well this Tesla IS an engine block heater. I don’t see any set backs here unless you wanted to leave your car for weeks at a time

Real world....no garage and 5 years from now. Compared to gas, full tank next morning still full tank. Five years later, with gas, same result. I appreciate your video, it just shows electric cars have room to grow. I'm wandering the effects with extreme heat like in Texas, Arizona and Florida. Again, it's going to be interesting to see 5 years from now.

If no garage, do you have a driveway? Chargers work outside, too. Gas car and left overnight in extreme cold weather have trouble starting and then car battery also has problems. I suggest looking at some of the videos from Norway where EVs are very popular. Also the test on “out os spec review” where 3 year old Tesla with over 100 miles was left out for two days in below zero weather.

@@Adventures_with_nickYou say that, but somehow my 96 Camry is still running, despite not being garaged for the last 15 years, in a place where the winters can get down to -25. Sure, I sometimes have to jump-start it in extreme cold, but it still runs. The battery in an EV would need to be replaced after what, like 5 to 10 years in that environment?

In Montana, without a block heater in the car, leaving a Honda accord out over night, I couldn’t not start it. Wouldn’t crank fast enough to start and killed the battery due to cold oil. I got a portable space heater and an extension cord and put it under the engine compartment for about 45 minutes and with a jump that got the car running again then I kept it in the garage all the time lol.

Cold temperatures can sap electric car batteries, temporarily reducing their range by more than 40% when interior heaters are used, a new study found. The study of five electric vehicles by AAA also found that high temperatures can cut into battery range, but not nearly as much as the cold. The range returns to normal in more comfortable temperatures. Many owners discovered the range limitations last week when much of the country was in the grips of a polar vortex. Owners of vehicles made by manufacturers including Tesla TSLA, 3.19% , the top-selling electric vehicle company in the U.S., complained on social media about reduced range and frozen door handles during the cold snap.

Im not trying to be that guy, but all the people complaining about the window sticking, you need to precondition your car before you get in it. Thats extreme cold and anything can get stuck, regardless of the name brand on the product. The whole purpose of an ev is to precondition your cab before getting in to avoid extreme heat or cold. Whats he gonna do next? Get into his car when its 120 degrees out and complain the seats burned his ass? This video accomplishes nothing.

Range, charging speeds vs filling up tanks, less electric stations vs gas stations. Even in extreme cold you can just drive right away get your car warmed up more than twice the speeds of Tesla in latest gas cars also price difference. Even cars with prices under 35k gives your more features than 60k plus teslas etc. lots of little things worse of all in extreme cold or extreme heat Tesla range decreases 20 to 45 percent.
