One word of advice matey, don't lose touch with those life long made friends, it's hard in civvy st and you will need your brothers when you lest expect it. ✌️🇬🇧

MFO Boxes (Military Forces Overseas). When I started they were wooden crates like "Tea chests", latter they became the carboard ones. At the QMs they had a stencilling machine to make stencils to then spray paint your details on and your next posting or address.

Hey I served 11 years and I got out just over 2 years ago to travel around the world on my bike and still going. Best decision I ever made, we can always go back and serve but we cant always have the freedom to travel in these ways.

Jake mate, good luck out there bro, it was an absolute pleasure serving with you and I hope that it isn't the last I see of you. Your enthusiasm for life and gregarious character won you a great many friends within the Regiment and you will be sorely missed, of that I have no doubts whatsoever. Always be cognisant however that you may be able to take the lad out of the Army but you cannot take the army out of the lad. By that I mean that, no matter where you go in life and indeed the world, you have earned the title of "King's Royal Hussar" and for better or for worse that is not something you can undo: you will always be a member of our relatively small Regimental family. May you seek comfort and strength in knowing that you have so many friendly faces to turn to should ever you run into any bumps in the winding road that is your future. Writing this now, having commissioned out of the Regiment and serving elsewhere in the Army, I can say that the KRH and what it means to be a Hussar is something I cling onto with white knuckles. You mention emotions and I can tell you now that from my own personal experience, they're something I experienced and still experience regularly. For all the bullshit taskings, fuck-fuck games and wagons consigning themselves to the red corner on James, it is something that you will find yourself missing and I think that's down to the organic component, the Hussars themselves.

Nice one Jake, all the best to you on the next stage of your life! I did what you are doing 30 years ago, be it after 7 years in the senior service :-). Two tips... 1. Keep all of your army photos, memorabilia, gizzets etc. Their sentimental value will increase to priceless after a few decades that make memories of the armed forces lifestyle foggy and forgotten. 2. Don't let the civvies get you down, be patient with them, they did not get the head start into real manhood that you just had. Endex.

Very interesting vlog and insight into the modern discharge process. Welcome to civvy street, there are hundreds of thousands of us out here, and we all have to come to terms with some very strange things :) I served for 9 years Kings Div (Infantry) and still to this day, have some fantastic memories even after 35 years out. You have loads of adventures to face, but you will never forget the Brotherhood........ Thank you for your Service.

I always have some melancholy when leaving a job or place I've spent some time at. It happens even when I've been looking forward to leaving or making a change. You know there are some folks who brightened your life that you just won't be seeing much anymore. That said, change is necessary for growth and widening your circle with new friends is always fun. Thanks for sharing your last week with us. It brought up several memories for me of leaving places and I ended up calling a good friend that I hadn't chatted with in awhile, so thanks to you for that mate. Cheers and looking forward to your van adventures.

Good luck Jake. I did 7 years in the REME way back and although I made the right decision it was a strange feeling becoming a civvi and I still miss the crack with the lads. Looking forward to seeing where your travels take you.

I once met an ex Royal Green Jacket who had become a New Age Traveller. This was around Spring 2001. He still had short hair and wore cut down DPMs.

Best of luck mate. Never served myself (conveniently broke my leg into three bits while Crapita were busy losing paperwork) so I can't imagine how it must feel turning the page into a whole new chapter - but it's gonna be a great new chapter. There's a world of good shit out there to explore.
