The Foo Fighters, Kid Rock, and Lenny Kravitz perform "Rock and Roll," "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You," "Ramble On," and "Whole Lotta Love" in honor of Led Zeppelin at the 2012 Kennedy Center Honors.
In a surprise twist, Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins sings lead vocals while frontman Dave Grohl takes the drum kit on "Rock and Roll." Kid Rock sings "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" and "Ramble On," and Lenny Kravitz performs "Whole Lotta Love." They performed in front of Led Zeppelin band members Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, and John Paul Jones, as well as President Barak Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, and the other honorees including Buddy Guy, David Letterman, Dustin Hoffman, and Natalia Makarova.

I actually have wondered if this is partly why he died. He said he always had major nerves when Grohl asked him to sing. So he would do drugs to try and calm down. And he was clearly tired of that lifestyle feeding his drug use so he wanted to quit. But Grohl asked him for that last tour and to sing some, so he did drugs again and it finally killed him.

BEST BAND EVER...such creativity diversity every song different, their acoustic stuff was sensational, too. Plant + Page, what a duo...what a team...and they were such a joy to watch on stage, no gimmicks...just kick ass musicians playing their hearts out, all of them, speaking to each other thru their music...page dancing all over....guitar slung down low...what an ICON. magical.

I have to keep coming back to these Kennedy center honors so I can cry and remember my teen year love affair with my Zeppelin. I'm so lucky to have seen them 3 times in the seventies and there's not too many of us left who can say this. Now, I cry from the shear joy of them. I remember when they were young, in their twenties and now, I feel like this cannot possibly be them now. Where is my Bonzo??? I shook your hand once John, do you remember that?? I do. a cover of LZ is not only voice at all.... you also have a top 3 all time guitarist, drummer and bassist like Page, Bonham, Jones.. and for that I think the FF performance was the closest thing to honor them

@@joseochoa4152 Plus song choice is everything! Lenny had the song that was also used for "Top of the Pops" back in the day...The mass's will always relate to familiarity rather than talent! Lenny was amazing dont get me wrong but damn the foo's win my vote because they can switch from drums to vocals and vice versa! Either way the show was awesome!

Dave Grohl and his bandmate are incredible musicians. I think a lot of people forget he played drums in Nirvana before he became the frontman for the Foo Fighters.
