This is episode one in a series on the life and crimes of Lee Harvey Oswald. It focuses mostly on his years in the Marine Corps, his years living in the Soviet Union and his meeting and romance with his wife Marina. The main source used for this was the book “Marina and Lee” by Priscilla McMillan, the most intimate portrait of Oswald I have ever read. McMillan lived with Marina for several months while researching the book in 1964. The recollections of everyone involved were fresh and not yet tainted by conspiracy theories. McMillan was uniquely qualified not only as a fabulous researcher and journalist, but she was also one of the only people on earth who had personally known or interviewed both Kennedy and Oswald. She interviewed Oswald in 1959, during his time in Russia. McMillan said her goal with writing the book was to help Jack understand why he died. While Marina has since changed her mind about her husband’s guilt, after being introduced to conspiracy theories, I believe her memories here more accurately reflect her mind at the time. Dozens of other people who knew Oswald were also interviewed and it’s as close as we the public may ever come to understanding who Oswald was.

What fantastic video presentation, Madame Morbid. You really have told Lee and Marina's story well, making it very vivid. I was born in Austin in February 1963, and so this whole strange tale has always seemed karmically related to me somehow.

Really good …I read somewhere that Oswald could speak flawless Russian and that Marina thought he was a native speaker. I’m not sure of the source and it doesn’t make sense. But very nice and informative!

I’ve read that as well. I’m studying Russian right now and it’s very difficult. When you think that he was self taught and only in his early twenties it’s pretty impressive. Oswald is a fascinating character for many reasons…

It sounds like a narrative that someone like Oswald would complain in the late 50s/early 60s that education and medical care cost too much in the US. Those did not increase greatly in cost until the government got more involved those industries in the later years. My mother and two brothers largely put themselves through college in the 60s, one through law school. All with no loans. My mother had a baby before she could graduate, with no health insurance, and the family simply paid the bill on the way out. I went to college in the 80s with less than $5K loans.

California colleges were free back then. All Oswald had to do was move there. How does a Marine in the 50s get away with telling everyone he's a "Marxist," without getting beat up and kicked out? Only someone being trained to be a double agent would get away with that. Why would they let Oswald come back to the US with a Russian wife who is related to a KGB agent? Make it all make sense. This whole narrative sounds like it was re-written by some alphabet agency after JFK came out.

I have studied the Kennedy assassination for 59 years. I was reading the Warren Commission Report when I was 11. I have enjoyed your other videos but initially was hesitant about viewing your video because there's so much crap on the internet about the hundreds of theories out there floating around. After viewing your video I give a 2 thumbs up. Well done. Looking forward to completing the series. Thanks!!

Hi why have you skipped Oswald in Atsugi U2 base and his radar operator position , as well as his connection to KGB spy japanees Maiko. Ilia Prusakov was not official but KGB officer ( Ministry of Internal Affairs ) - so how dosn't he know Oswald age and status ??? its contradictionery have you checked the connection of Lee Harvey Oswald to George de Mohrenschildt the polish imigrant that have connection to KGB by polish comunist goveremnt ? there are documents of connection Socialistyc Polish spys with George de Mohrenschildt .

@stddisclaimer8020 7 месяцев назад
@@marekwisniewski5572 There is no evidence that Oswald’s Marine unit dealt with the U2’s operations, nor is there evidence that Oswald displayed any particular interest in, or curiosity about the plane. George deMohrenschildt, a (Russian-American NOT Polish) friend of Oswald, gave testimony before the Warren Commission that said nothing suggesting a conspiracy; but in later years, as conspiracy books and telling tales became more popular and profitable, he began to give a much more "interesting" account. Allegations of Oswald being connected to any intel agency have been thoroughly investigated six ways to Sunday and there's no *_there_* there.

@@stddisclaimer8020 listen I've lived under comunism regime for long time, there is noe possibiliety that Ilia Prusakov KGB lautnant woudn't know everything about Oswald - he was Marinas uncle whitch she lived with for 2 years. Also George de Mortershild was KGB spy - he conntacted Polish spys in Haiti right after assasination and got profitable contract for his shares in conpy plantation ( FAKE bussines ) .For me its clear that Oswald was KGB spy and was trained and controled by KGB after he got back to USA.

Well done! I have watched your other subjects and was educated by your delivery and appreciated the sharing of history. The only comment I would make in addition to the well done, is a few facts are a bit off, for example his apartment, the building is correct but the apartment location is off. This does have relevance which I won’t go into, I have been there a few times and some interesting stories about his time there and their connection to his future of becoming an assassin. I have some letters from his mother to me which supports what I have shared here. Thanks again for a job well done.

Oswald even tried to lie about his age at first going into the Marines where one of his older brothers were. He was 16, not 17, but finally got in. Probably, to get away from his mother. PBS Frontline, here on youtube, has a really, good rundown on his early life. He was caught for truancy, because he would enjoy visiting the animals at the zoo, and long reading at the public library. His mother had to work 10 hour days, almost seven days a week.

His Mother was a Nut and indirectly created the Assassin. You're probably aware that precisely one year before the assassination all 3 Brothers and their families got together for Thanksgiving and did not invite their Mother Marguerite to come. Lee didn't even tell his Mother that he had a second Daughter...............June finally came to grips with the fact that Oswald was the killer but I don't know if Rachel ever did, I know it caused a lot of tension in the family.

If I was the KGB or whatever I'd use Oswald for perfecting my spies' American accents. And strangely somebody recorded him putting on different accents. Then when Marina gets to Dallas the emigres want to converse with her to hear hip 1960s Russian. Personally I think Oswald was a dreamer and the White Russians exploited him to try to start a war between the US and Red Russia.

Why have you quit doing on-camera shots - substituting your stock “old-timey” shot? I have enjoyed your videos - particularly the Bonnie and Clyde material - and I think your on-camera introductions and narration helps to personalize the videos. Just my opinion.
@MMorbid
@MMorbid Год назад
That’s something I mostly do when I’m filming on site and have the material pretty much memorized. I do not script anything, so for a topic this in depth I’m simply not comfortable enough with the material to pluck it directly from my brain, I don’t have to worry how I look and it is easier to edit the audio too. But don’t worry, I’ve been filming some other stuff already for when this is done and later on in Oswald’s story I have lots more on-site footage coming too. I prefer making on location stuff as well, though it isn’t always possible. But thank you for the feedback. All I can say is, don’t worry, I haven’t abandoned that at all. I uploaded a Joplin tornado episode yesterday that is made in the preferred style. Check it out!

@@MMorbid Will do and thank you for the response. I forgot to add in my comment that I really enjoy the amount of research you put into your videos and the level of detail you go into. A lot of your material - again I’m thinking Bonnie and Clyde, the Dalton Gang, and some of the other subjects - incorporates some fairly obscure material, material that I’m sure you have to do some local research and legwork to turn up. Given the sheer amount of clickbait and garbage history on RU-vid, I’m happy that the all-knowing algorithm recommended your videos. Keep up the good work and thank you for your output. @@MMorbid The legacy of Covid will be with us for a long time. We in America have gotten used to dodging bullets and quick-fixes; we don’t think in terms of decades, particularly as technology/social-media has ramped up the pace of everything. My grandparents once told me that the 1918 “Spanish” flu outbreak was front and center in peoples’ minds, business decisions, and social behavior for years after the outbreak. Covid changed the way we work, the way businesses allocate resources, made profound changes in people’s conception of job security and continuity, impacted education and social interaction, probably was responsible for the inflation we experience now, and of course was extremely polarizing politically…or was used by some to polarize and divide society. I’m sorry you lost a job as a result; the upside for your viewers is that we got your videos. Hopefully you are generating some income from your channel; again just an example of how our society has evolved to deal with the Covid chaos. I’m meandering here (and grotesquely mansplaining …. sorry) and taking up your time reading this. I was in the 2nd grade in November of 1963. I remember the assassination vividly. It was my first eye-opening understanding that there was a big unstable world out there full of bad things. Anyway, apologies for taking up your time. Thank you again for your videos and for responding to my comments. Have a nice day!

I am old enough to remember the assassination. As with all notorious mysteries, there appear to be many solutions that can be argued forever. I think Bill O'Reilly's short and to the point book "Killing Kennedy, is probably most accurate. Oswald was a failure, or gave up on everything he tried. He had made his marriage a living hell. The night before the assassination, he came home to see if he could get a fresh start with Marina and she said no. In the morning he left her all the money he had AND his wedding ring. (That ring was sold by Marina in recent times for over $100,000.) I can imagine him making a bargain with himself, that if he can patch up things with his wife, he will not go through with his fantasy. But she rejected him, so he committed an attack that would get the world's attention focused on himself. Whether or not he was an excellent marksman, it is said that model of gun is very hard to fire rapidly. Something I do not see discussed is the fact that Kennedy's limousine continued to move slowly. It's not like three shots were centered in the middle of a target. If the vehicle had stopped for a moment I think shots after the first would have missed the target. No matter the difficulties with rapid firing that gun, he did send all three bullets toward the president. My point is, there was no wild shot, widely missing Kennedy. (I have written this in comments before and no one has disputed my idea, so I think I am right. If I am not, hopefully someone will correct me.)

This is pretty much the argument made by Priscilla Johnson McMillan in the 70s and that’s basically my source for this series. She personally talked to pretty much anyone who ever knew him, and she began researching right after it happened so people’s recollections hadn’t been tainted by time or conspiracy. I am really glad to hear that is the interpretation O’Reilly went with and not conspiracy nonsense. Lee was so unstable and probably mentally ill there isn’t a secret government agency on earth that would trust him with anything. Lee himself is where conspiracies fall apart instantly, because of who he was. I highly recommend McMillan’s book. It isn’t short but it really delves into who he was and why. It is called Marina and Lee, and all of the conversations I included are based on Marina’s recollections of them in 1964. McMillan spent nearly a year with her gathering her memories. Sadly Marina no longer supports her 1964 views, and conspiracy has replaced her actual memories, which is really unfortunate imo. But at least McMillan recorded them before that happened.

The problem I have is what percentage of murders have the victim go to the killer's location at random? And if his motive was infamy, why deny it?
@MMorbid
@MMorbid 7 месяцев назад
@@docastrov9013 that’s a good point but I honestly think the media attention alone absolutely thrilled him. He was also a narcissist and they never ever take responsibility for their actions. It’s always someone else’s fault. He did this with Marina. He wasn’t responsible for beating her, it was her fault because she made him mad (according to him). In the footage I can just tell that he is absolutely loving the attention from the media. The whole world was talking about him and knew his name. Maybe he would have admitted it eventually, we’ll never know unfortunately. But denying it keeps the media attention on him longer. He plays up being a victim, mistreated, etc. He’s putting on a show for the cameras, imo.

Yeah, he didn’t like either extreme, apparently but he also didn’t ever seem satisfied with anything no matter where he was. Never staying in one place, constantly moving. As soon as he got back in the US he’s plotting a way to get back to Russia. I think he was mentally ill but I’m not qualified to say that. It just seems like there was definitely something going on in this guy’s mind that wasn’t right, even beyond the murder stuff.
