when he showed the mechanism for the movable wings i was sold also the way he played with it i love myself some stable models

I can't believe they managed to bring this in at an affordable price instead of scaling it more up to make it a 300+ set, massive thanks for the designer for that. I can't believe how much function they crammed into it. This'll sell like candy the overlap between AFOL and Dune must be huge. Also love the new floppy rotor blades, opens up whole new scales for military MOCs.

The Baron does use suspensors in the book too. However, he has them on all the time in the book and use them to cancel out most, but not all of his extremely massive body weight so he can move fast and nimbly. Using them to hover ominously is a film addition, but one that I think is great, and suits the character.

From the top of my head: Event Horizon, Loader exoskeleton from Aliens, Rocinante, Enterprise and Normandy from Mass Effect

I love that you can see Tiago's head in the bottom-left corner during the start of the video!

My only gripe is that it looks like the top of the cockpit has two huge triangular gaps on both sides where the side windscreen pieces fold up. Other than that it is honestly cool that they took the set in a more function focused design direction, rather than just a display model. I wasn't a huge fan of the design of these vehicles in the movie, but this set has won me over.

Mike is my favorite LEGO designer of all time. TBH, I have not seen the 2021 Dune movie, but I saw some clips where this orhihopter appears and it looks so cool, accurate, and playable. So this is a set I’m going for next.

I'm excited for this Dune Lego! It's too bad that Dune does not have as much iconic spaceships like Star Wars.

The first Dune novel is one of my favorite books. The 2021 movies is really great and I really really like how the Ornithopter itself looks and is functioning. My one gripe is the choice of minifigs "costumes". I'm not sure why they would put Paul, Jessica, and Gurney in their outfits for arrival on Dune, but put Duke Leto in a still suit. Then Duncan is in dress from escaping the Harkonnen attack. It would be nice if this set includes a couple extra still suits, an Atreides armor, and maybe an Atriedes uniform piece. Just to make more movie consistent scenes. Overall though it's a great value and something I'm really looking forward to get to see.

Finally something I can get excited about.

I'm getting this simply out of how AFFORDABLE this!!! thing is. IT Looks ridiculous and is so large, i LOVE it, looks complex and combines both the aspects of system and technic perfectly. The remake of Dune i liked gonna have to watch it again but the characters, conflict between the factions i thought was interesting a shame to hear that PT2 has been delayed.

Can't wait to see people make massive swords out of those wing pieces

I was so interested in an Ornithopter kit that I purchased the MoC plans from a ReBrickable designer and built the set last year. There were a few stability issues with that set but the detailing was excellent given the parts availability. However, I won't be pre-ordering this set...as I can't wait the 3-4 days for delivery after it is released, when I can buy it direct from the MK store. I LOVE IT!

Yes, Aliens is the default answer, it should work with Disney promos too since they own it. The Matrix has a couple sets in it. You can find a Terminator bust on rebrickable so I wouldn't worry about that one. Mad Maxx (new one) had some cool cars, and we can never have too many of those (I'm trying to think of an excuse to get my hands on another Monster Truck)

I will probably be getting this set for christmas and cant be more excited about it but one thing that bothers me is the red ball pins. For all the technic fans: 6628a / Technic, Pin with Friction Ridges and Tow Ball with Round Pin Hole Is that the piece that I should relace it with in black or is it a different one? I have read the book scythe by Neal Shusterman and it will be coming out in theathers all though we know nothing when so when it comes out I want a set of that. Would be a day one buy, for me and I dont do these often 😅.

As a long time huge Dune fan, already from the first books and movies (with Sting among others) and the new movie was great too .. I totally have to have this, I hate you for showing it ;-) Luckily its only planned for next year February so still time to forget about it ;-) Cool video of the very happy designer showing off the functions of this great model. Pfff .. for other models ? I can think of some models from the 5th Element, the cab is cool but not much functionality, the spaceship from Zorg and others in the movie would be nice too..

What would I like to see in LEGO? Alien, Predator and Terminator buildable figures - something like the Star Wars characters few years ago or Marvel and DC heroes this year.

Dune 2021 still one of the best movie for me, i know its not realistic for LEGO to make The Spice Harvester from the movie to sell them because its gonna be so huge compared to the Imperial Star Destroyer from Starwars movie (if we discuss the actual size it is clearly bigger Imperial Star Destroyer), but i hope some guy from LEGO community gonna make those real, that gonna be sick!

Sadly there are not many vehicles in the Dune universe. All main characters have their minifigure already included and the label is Icons, not Dune. That means one thing: there won't be other Dune set anytime soon.

Suggestion for Icon set: BladeRunner Spinner!

Why stop with Dune?.. lcon Sci-fi Movie Series built with Lego Technic can include...Bladerunner l & ll flying cars(both have great potential), the magnetic car from Total Recall ll, the white Audi from l Robot,...the Bubble Sky Transporter from Obivilon...the modern Red Lexus car from Minority Report. Thanks for such an interesting possiblilty!

That looks like a nice set! I would have been fine without the minifigs and a displaystand, but well. Apparently an 18+ set that needs to be playable.. What I would like to see, besides Alien? Well Aliens :) I have built the APC from Legoforces, but the dropship would be nice in Legoform too. I'm thinking of other movies and series, David Duperron has some great models from BSG (I built the UCS Scale Viper MkII) and Blade Runner

Looks like a very well designed set but why do all licensed spaceships have to be in boring colors like gray and brown. I miss the colors of Lego Space and the transparent canopies in different colors.

An M557 APC from Aliens? A buildable Elliot complete with BMX bike and E.T.? A Blade Runner police spinner? The taxi from Fifth Element? The Discovery One from 2001 a space odyssey? A UCS Scale USS Defiant (sorry but I hate the enterprise ships, they all look kinda dumb). Oh or a UCS Serenity!

Brilliant! My wife wants it; my daughter wants it; and I think it's pretty cool too. Now we just need a harvester, a giant worm and whatever the thing is that pulls the harvester off the desert before the worm comes along (forgot the name). I see a whole new mini franchise here with this as the pilot project. I'm sure Lego will have other kits in the works, to launch or cancel depending on how this one flies (sorry...). And given the branding on the box, why does the Paul Atreides mini-fig look more like Kyle MacLachlane in the 1984 film rather than Timothée Chalamet in the 2021 version? Nice set of mini-figs though.

Lego Star Wars didn’t had a own theme in the beginning as well. I guess the set will over perform in sales even with this pricetag and kick off a few following sets from Dune. I’m excited because there are quite a few nice things to build from Dune! It has many things with potential to make a set out of it, but not to much like Star Wars these days
