LEGO Has an AI Problem... 

I watched 8 seconds of this video and really enjoyed 6 of them! 😛. Nah but I do agree 100%

As both an artist in the Lego community and an artist in general, I am really getting tired of AI images (I will not refer to it as art). Not only are these programs trained with other people's work without their knowledge. It's also being used in place of actual creativity. I have no doubt that my stuff has been or will be used for these programs, and I'd have no idea it happened. I put actual work into those while all someone has to do with an AI image is type in a few words.

You’re spot on! What’s crazy is it really only takes a few seconds to see how bad it really is. But people don’t focus these days. Instant gratification and on to the next thing. 😞

Also, the other problem is that AI makes the whole art creation become murky (or ambiguous, idk what to use). Essentially when a very talented Lego builder had thought of a very ingenious technique to create a thing, some people would start to guess whether the creation was made by AI or not. I think the most notable example was that recent golden Lego dragon by Donny Chen. It has a very organic shape, almost devoid of any signs of Lego, therefore possible to have a doubt. Of course, these talents, having built the thing themselves, can prove themselves just by taking many picture in various angles, nonetheless, there would be lots of "Hey, this other-worldly thing is real, why can't this?" or "How can this even be real, it's AI!" in the future with how fast AI is developing nowadays

If anything, I'd probably be using "AI" to make references. Though it is still dubious, I work around the weird oddities that is generated.

I have only seen these AI generated images in banner ads for RU-vid. They all say "Lego is Looking for Testers" and "We send you a testkit". I am not sure if they are real, but the Images are not that lage so you do not see imedialy that they are not real sets. I am from Germany and these ads were also in German and I translated the texts for this comment.

Great work! I also seen a lot of fake AI Lego sets, they looks so cool. But when this fake AI Lego sets starts poping up too much, I started hating this concept. Lego should ban this.

My soldiers came to me, and SSG looked at the new Legos, I said that's false create by an AI. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

If a lego creation has a box behind it then it is most certianly Ai generated except for official thing which have a blank white backround instead of the colorful ones Ai has

generative models are still a pretty new thing so yeah, prople are still kinda confused how to use them. it's easy to collect likes on social media with these generated images, so we're seeing lot of that lazy bs, sadly but that's only one of the ways we could use them. my pet project (videogame yeah) will, at some point, require designers, but for now I have these placeholders mady by midjourney on my board just to have a taste of what the world and objects will look like. and I will definitely show them to the designers as references because I myself can't draw for shit :) I believe generative models can and will be used by actual artists - not to produce these lazy "ai art" creations but to help with inspiration, references and the blank screen issue. just how ChatGPT helps me to get through writer's block when I have to make an instruction for my coworkers but I can't just start it - it's always hard for me to start writing things down, but AI helps a bit by providing a skeleton for my text, and bam - I complete it, rewriting 99% of it, sure, but it did help. funnily enough, just yesterday I argued with a friend who reposted one of these "ai lego creations" and it was dubbed something like "a designer showed how ikea based lego set would've looked like" and I was "oh my gosh dude typing prompts into midjourney doesn't make someone a designer". turns out an actual designer (with a linkedin profile and a big portfolio all that stuff) actually did that just for fun lol ps. oh yeah - great video pal. I do wonder with Ai if to get better it needs more and more imputs it will start sucking up ai art in so it might slowly degrade itself

I hate these images so much A friend of mine knows I'm avid collector of Legos and he keeps posting these algo generated images at me being all sincere LOOK HOW COOL THIS LEGO IS and I'm just like .................................................. I appreciate the sentiment but at least show me MOCs made by actual people and not images that would be otherwise impossible for me to recrete.

You wanna hear an even worse one? I caught Temu selling the design of my favorite builder without his consent. So now, everything you post can be deciphered by someone in another part of the world and sold as a cheap knock off set without the original creators input or rights. Its bloody disgusting
