You cannot beat propane for clean burning. I’ve driven a lot of propane powered trucks over the years and would buy another one without hesitation. I had a 1980 “Datson” pickup with 320,000 miles on it and the engine was as clean as the day it came out of the factory when you took off the valve cover. The body had rotted away by that time though. I had no idea they made propane outboard motors.

Had no idea there were propane operated motors. Cool!! I'm looking forward to the consultation on my trike build in a few weeks

You can run any motor on propane with the right regulator

I have a propane outboard and live in Thailand. I refill at the “cooking” gas stations (vs we have propane stations for vehicles)… and the cooking gas is subsidized by the government so it’s cheaper than any boat fuel you could buy. And it runs cleaner etc and I feel like I pollute the waters less

I've always heard that propane is less energy dense than gasoline, but where I live it would be a lot more economical anyway. Propane is currently $2.50 a gallon, while regular gas is over $5.00.

Yes, less bang than gas, but cooler running and you adjust how you drive it

Neat! I grew up around boats & had no idea propane was a thing. That was even fast enough to water-ski behind (if the skier can raise themself out of the water quickly to avoid dragging back the boat). Will be neat when you convert your boat to electric;)

@@davidrogers5180 I dunno, maybe use solar batteries charged when it is sunny? Unless you run out of sun permanently your question is pointless.

I just bought a propane 5 horse motor for my John boat. I have yet to check to make sure the oil is up and installed in my boat. I hope to get out fishing next week being that this is Sunday..

I've had mine a season now..22 top speed....only issue I had was banjo bolt coming loose cause fuel leak....been a great engine but do not trust it due to China manufacturing...also parts are hard to come by...its too bad the ceo worried about the bottom line instead of quality control....they had a real chance...ill use mine until it dies

Propane & natural gas burn much cleaner = 2 to 3x longer engine life & fewer oil changes in between since the oil doesn't get as dirty as fast. Another good clean burning fuel combination is biodiesel & propane. Funny thing is, electric vehicles weren't actually made to help the environment like Greta thinks. If they wanted to help the environment. They would have made biodiesel/electric hybrids covered in solar cells for a little extra range. If you don't drive for 2 days. You'd get about 20 free miles from the sun.

@@JohnnyNerdOut Random Thoughts & Info: ...I was able to get my push lawnmower to run off propane. It burns so clean you can start mower in a small closed garage & run for hours without being killed by fumes. Similar to cooking indoors with a natural gas or propane flame 🔥 🆚 a gasoline flame. Only needed a propane torch & rubber hose. It was pretty easy to get running by adjusting the torch knob flow until I got the right Air/fuel ratio.Of course you really need the regulator for engines to run right . Other people have used E85 in gas mower either by partially choking the carb/restricting airflow or switching carb jets to app. 30% larger. I wanted to convert my 2 stroke motorized bicycle to E85 so I could make alot more power. But my hick town gas station doesn't sell E85. If I put the right carb jet in & made a diy high compression cyl head. The little 49mm x 40mm stroke engine can go from around 2.5 hp to around 3.5- 4 hp.....The E85 doesn't hurt anything if you just make sure not leave sitting in bike for over a month. To avoid attracting moisture. Plus it burns cooler than gas helping to prevent overheating on long rides & is cheaper to use than gasoline. I'm sure in desert low humidity areas. You could leave it sit for around 2- 3 months without attracting too much moisture. The ethanol damage is overhyped. It's not the ethanol that's actually damaging parts (most modern hose,gaskets,etc..are now ethanol compatible) It's the moisture it attracts, creating an E85 water mix. The water then causes corrosion. A piece of steel won't rust in 100% ethanol but will in a mix of 75% E85 25% h20. I know an engine can run off HHO (hydrogen Oxygen Gas)& burn even cleaner than propane but is isn't as simple as using propane. I was thinking instead of using like 70% gasoline 30% hho for better mpgs. Try 70% E85/30% hho or 70/30% propane/hho mix for better mpgs. With hho made from a solar system on my campervan... (If I ever get unsick, working & back on the road to do it). One problem with hho is it burns hotter/overheating. But reducing the oxygen would help run cooler . The other problem is hydrogen hho likes to auto ignite-pre ignition before tdc under compression in an engine which is bad. But E85 is like 100 to 105 octane and doesn't preignite. So the e85 would reduce heat plus reduce chance of pre ignition 🆚 gasoline hho mix. Trying to convert a Ford econoline van to electric would be very expensive. But I Already want a solar system, so an e85 hho conversion for better mpgs to save money would be much cheaper if it worked. If I could find a cheap used e85 302 V8 conversion kit. It'd be great if I could go from 13 mpgs on gasoline to say 19 mpgs on E85/hho. The solar system wouldn't be a waste of $ if it failed & neither would the E85 if it wasn't super expensive & was a dual fuel e85 gasoline conversion kit. E85 causes hard starting in very cold weather. I'm not anti EV but an ebike for example is way more $ than motorized bicycle kit..People claim an EV is much simpler but the fact is a 2 stroke engine kit way more simple than ebike kit....I'd be even happier with my $200 bike engine kit. if my town sold E85. The bike would make more power for better hill climbing. I wanna get some e85 & see if I can get my mower to run good on E85/HHO. If it does then I'd know for It'd work on my van. The solar battery bank would make the hho. So if I could get it to run on 50%E85 50%hho. I could get even better mpgs. Long story short I know if can get a mower to run on e85/hho good & improve fuel economy. That it'll work in a bigger gas engine. End of long caffeine fueled comment.
