Rosie showed so much respect and love torward Lena Horne. This was a wonderful interview and Lena was still "doin' it" at 80!!! A legendary artist in every way.
Not one wrinkle on her face. Still absolutely gorgeous at 80 and right before she died. She was so sweet and an angel, you just want to kiss her face and hug her. She is the real deal ..a true legend to treasure!

Lena Horne was the absolute most beautiful woman in the history of show biz ever. No one then or now can hold a flame to her beauty. At 80, she didn't look a day over 60. Simply Beautiful. ❤
@PolishViking I am tired of hearing "black don't crack". There are many black people with wrinkles. Black not only cracks, but it bags and sags as well. Writing off a black woman or man's preservation with the cliché "Black don't crack" is a form of dismissal. Lena Horne looked that good at 80 because she didn't abuse herself with drugs, cigarettes, alcohol or overeating. There are plenty of black women and men who are in a wretched condition at 80...in fact, 80 is beyond the life expectancy of a black man or woman in America today and this show was taped over 20 years ago. Give this woman the respect she is due.
Look at her at EIGHTY! Gorgeous! She never in fact lost her looks, her voice or her talent. She did near the end decide not to perform or record any more but she was still in demand. She was shiningly smart, admirably feisty and very courageous.
This is priceless! Thank you to everyone who has ever posted anything regarding this wonderful women. She is in Heaven now and this world will miss her greatly. May she rest in peace til we meet again.
What I would have given to have been sitting there in person. I have admired her literally my entire life. Nothing but class, beauty, elegance and sophistication. She was definitely a national treasure. RIP Ms. Horne.
When met I Cicely Tyson it was at Lena's 80th Birthday party where I was the photographer. She was one of the notables there and she told me she liked being behind the camera as well. Before I photographed Miss Horne and her Birthday guests and friends, like Cleo Laine, Leslie Uggams, Eydie Gorme’ & Steve Lawrence, Joe Williams and the list continued, I was a bit nervous and Miss Horne just privately, asked “Why” with a satirical and southern-esque drawl as she smiled at me. I was at ease from then on.
Lena looked great right to the end and her final recordings were beautiful and riveting. As the years passed she only became a deeper and wiser artist, never a shadow of her former self.
One of the most beautiful faces on the planet. Even at age 80. My God her beauty would not fade. No face lift, no fake boob's. God sure was good to her in the looks department. And her hair!!!! When my father, in 1945, first met my mother,,he gave her an album of STORMY WEATHER songs, with the amazing Miss Horne. NOW I have that album, and I must tell you that is a joy, for me, to see this beautifull LADY here. Ms. Horne was so lively even at such an old YET wise age... I miss Rosie's show so much....She said what she wanted, WHEN SHE WANTED! I now appreciate Rosie's shows more because of this clip... RIP Lena..

OH MY! You are beautiful Lena and today is my Father's Birthday, November 30, 2011 and he would have been 95 years old! All he spoke of while I growing up in New York was you. We listened to you all the time. My Mother was a Singer too, but my Father was still so in Love with you Lena. Leads me to believe you both met somewhere? He was a Fighter Pilot in the Pacific Theatre and John Waynes Stuntman in "The Flying Leathernecks"! Rosie? What a WONDERFUL INTERVIEW!
thanks, i saw & taped this on tv when it aired. I emailed Rosie a month before she left the view to have Lena on in 2007 for her 90th Birhtday, but she left the show early. Would have been awesome, but Lena retired from public appearances before 2007. A classic beauty and excellent singer! she's lovely.
Lena has always been stunning she might as well dye her hair black, she looks phenominal for 80 years old, she would look 50. I love her. What a voice, what a soul.
