Nice to hear these are helping somebody, i generally do a video when i can't find one already made. I generally test games that are quite recent and somewhat demanding for hardware, to show what it can do and what it cannot. Do you mean legacy system emulators or newer ones (those might be demanding enough to consider them benchmarks).

@@SenzuBeaner Is the graphics selection option in bios on auto or PEG so it is using the graphics card? So you are trying to get a full-size 1050 working i understand? That card won't work with VGA even with adapters as far as i know. You can also try updating the bios.

The CPU blower fan replacement is more for the GPU than the CPU temps. I don't remember anymore but i think the GPU temps were going over 90.

Nice, yeah i started the channel pretty much because nobody did videos on how to fit full cards into SFF pcs. Low-profile cards so rare and expensive they are useless, and if you case-swap you lose the small form factor. Please report back if it works, i recommend using a version with no 6-pin power required (just did another video where i had a problem with 6-pin).

Nice to hear that. I don't think a normal ATX PSU would fit in this case but maybe some smaller standard, like TFX.

That is weird. Do you have any other screens to try with a digital input? (hdmi, dvi, dp). The cable (pci express riser) i connected is just for that i can position the gpu to lay flat, thus making it fit the case properly. I did not try without the riser. I did not have any such problems.

Non-standard connectors suck. I haven't case-swapped M92p yet but i have M93p, for that i needed an adapter to use standard PSU, not sure if same adapter would also work with M92p

Well, i built a new PC at the worst time with GPU mining craze (Ryzen 1700x + Vega64), and i totally regret it every time i get a nice budget PC built at a good price. But i guess i had to try building from new parts at least once to see if it's worth it.

Also what is your PSU wattage?

Well, i have a video where i put a (small itx mining version) of rx 570 in that HP model. And Tech Yes City himself has made a video where he caseswaps that pc (but uses original PSU) and installs an RX470. However that might be a cut-down RX470D with possibly lower power consumption, and i think the one i installed might also use less power than a normal RX570. Only way to find out is to try and maybe measure the power consumption. Standard psu can be used with an adapter cable, but most won't fit without a caseswap.

@@ahmedmoataz11 Thank you! Keep in mind that the PSU upgrade with an adapter cable thing is not well documented, i just quickly tested it by booting once with it. I noticed that when powered off, CPU fan is left spinning (does not seem to fully poweroff with the cable). When i got the cable, a connector was incorrectly installed, i had to take it off and put back in correct orientation. I don't have any HP 600/800 G1 pc right now(i sold them), so cannot test more yet.

Lenght of the card should not be a problem, height could be. I just made a video with M92p and rx560 6-pin version, that one has problems, it could just be a bad card but it could also be that the SATA cables (which run through the mobo) can't provide enough power or something.

@@optimallyobscureperformanc6264 I think the problem is the Lenovo's power supply. Although it rated at 240watt, but it's only 80+ bronze. Compared to HP Prodesk 600 G1 power supply that has similar wattage but it already 80+ Gold. Bryan from Tech YES City already done that with a Sapphire Radeon RX 470 4GB Reference card (6 pin power connector). I plan to use the similar card in my next project on HP Prodesk SFF chassis, but I think the length of the card (24cm) won't fit into that chassis without taking off the HDD and DVD bracket. The other option is using GTX 1060 3GB single fan but it is pricier than the RX 470.

@@optimallyobscureperformanc6264 if you had problems with that RX560 and you're unsure about what caused it, you can check by installing that graphic card directly to the PCIE x16 slot without that extended cable. If it work perfectly, it could be the extended cable couldn't send proper signal. But if the problem still occur, it could be the power supply couldn't power up the card.

Thanks, yes it is possible to add a low-profile version of 1030 without any modification, airflow is actually okay in this PC with intake fan, and cpu, psu fans working as exhaust. Especially with 1030 airflow should be fine.

Yes it should support those cards(i have only used 560 with this but 570 580 etc should also work, you just need a beefier PSU which i assume you are replacing anyway since caseswap). Drivers are not critical(to install before plugging the card in), it will give you picture even without them. I haven't tried a nvme drive. It probably would work with a pcie adapter, but not sure if this PC could boot from it.

No i used the original 240w. Yes card manufacturers exaggerate because they have to take into account power-hungry CPUs and other system components and weak PSU's that lie about their rated wattage. But the card does not have any power connectors, that means it can only pull power via the PCIe slot that provides max 80w. So 240w is more than enough even with the GPU.

If i sometime come across that PC for cheap, i'll do it. I currently do not use 1650 cards because there is no successor for them yet and they are still expensive in the used market, but Nvidia may release successors for them soon which could make them actually good value for money compared to 1050.

I had no problems with that RX560 which has 80w tdp, don't know why 75w tdp 1050ti would not work (if it is 75w tdp version without need to use 6-pin power connector).

Only a low profile card will fit, if you want to use full height card you have to do this with the cables and stuff.

Hi, i don't remember working on a m91p so i can't confirm whether it will work or not.

With the stock 240w PSU it would be near the max TDP, rx570 works in HP's which have 240w gold PSU, but this has 240w bronze. Could work in this one too, but i have not tried. If you have case swapped and have a bigger wattage PSU, yes it should should work.

Yes it should work. I think it's actually the same as RX560 but some RX460's are cut down versions with less shaders.

Yes, that (casemod) is also an option. The black plastic air guideway piece is important, that is why i swap the fan for a blower exhaust one in the video. i am pretty sure that the airflow works much better with the blower fan that the original black air guideway solution(the blower fan is from a dell SFF PC, they have similar kind of airflow solution). I did test the temps, and both CPU and GPU stay in acceptable numbers.

I don't see a reason why that wouldn't work.

Also you don't necessarily need that high wattage PSU, Nvidia's suggested is 350w and they usually leave some headroom in their suggestions in the case of really bad PSU's that lie about their true wattage.

Well, not necessarily, but you probably need to remove or cut the black plastic shroud around it. And that might cause the fan to be worse at exhausting hot air from the case since the shroud isn't there to direct airflow. That's why i replaced the CPU fan, to make it work better as an exhaust fan.

You mean you are not getting a picture from the graphics card? I would recommend updating the Lenovo PC's (motherboard's) BIOS first.

Apparently alot of AMD RX cards don't work with the motherboard in the m91. May want to get a Radeon HD or Nividia card instead.

@@RU-vidrL1M not exactly sure, something to do with the motherboard bios I think. Pre-built parts mainly older prebuilts from companies can be very stingy when it comes to comparability.

In fact i just upgraded my friend's tower lenovo tower pc (4th gen intel, don't remember what exact model) with rx460, it did not boot with it before i updated the bios to the latest official version, so i think there is some whitelist stuff going on. About your PC, i could never be sure without testing, but if you do decide to try it i recommend updating the bios if you encounter problems.

@@fault6866 If your model is M92 just download the first file from there and run it. But i recommend trying without updating bios first and updating only if you encounter problems.

You mean those things i put on the graphics card to prevent contact with the side panel? They are just normal rubber sticky feet or door stoppers.

I have multiple screenshots in the video where i list the specs, also CPU. For your case, it looks like m81 does not support 3rd gen CPU's. Windows 10 should boot up with any CPU that's compatible with that PC as far as i know, so i don't think that's the issue.

@@optimallyobscureperformanc6264 could this be a hard drive issue. Because I got it from a school throwing the pc away and I was driving to boot from usb to windows 10 & 8.1 but I was stuck in a boot loop.

@@hugh3577 If it is from a school, it might have certain bios settings (maybe boot device order) that cause this. I would first reset the bios, if it has some password i think you can get rid of that by removing cmos battery or with a bios jumper on the motherboard.

I have one last question, can I leave the black plastic thing around the CPU cooler off and just leave the fan by itself?

@@kluthai If it will fit, then probably yes.

The black wall is just to guide hot air from CPU fan out of the case. I removed it and used other solution to guide the air out (Blower fan from a Dell PC). So if you remove it, it might get pretty hot inside the PC, at least watch the CPU and GPU temps if you take it out. I guess you could also cut the black wall just a little to get the GPU to fit.

I have no way of testing and confirming that. You need to try and see if it fits, and if that card can be secured down safely. Its different with every card due to the non-standard mounting method. That temperature is completely normal and safe, up to 85c is normal according to Intel employee here: community.intel.com/t5/Processors/i5-3470-max-temperature-reaches-up-to-75c/td-p/477407 I also had above 75c temps when leaving it running prime95, as you can see from HWMonitor screenshots in the video. Reportedly it would begin throttling down at 105c and automatically shut down at 120c, so no worries if it is 75c. I don't think that coolermaster would really improve the situation, it seems to have a heatsink that is the same size as the original, and it would not be able to exhaust hot air as well as the blower fan.

That is the modification i'd make if any, it is difficult to fit much bigger heatsinks there but i guess if you would find same size heatsink that has a copper core it would cool a bit better. But i don't think that is worth the effort, your temps are entirely fine.

I don't have this PC currently but as far as i remember it was like this: 1. Press F1 at startup to enter BIOS 2. In the BIOS somewhere there is a "temperature control" option or something similar, "Lenovo intelligent fan control" maybe 3. You have two options, something like "Thermal optimized"=high fan speed and noise, and "sound optimized"=low fan speed and noise. I can't remember exact names for those things so these are probably wrong. If that does not help with noise you might have a fan with a worn bearing and need to replace that fan.

If these don't work and you want to try flashing the GPU bios, make sure the bios you are flashing has support for the memory your card has (elpida, hynix, samsung).

Yes, you can case swap it. I have a video where i case swap m93p which is very similar. Just some connectors (front panel, HD audio) are non-standard. You can google their pinouts and adapt them.

RX460, RX560, GTX1050, GTX1650 for example, even better cards might be fine with that PSU, depends on how many watts it has on the 12v rail (GPU will use that).

Of course a standard PSU wouldn't still fit the case and would need a caseswap maybe, i don't know if the PSU is standard TFX either. I upgraded one Lenovo with 10-pin 190w PSU by installing a 1050ti, but i think it is pushing the PSU a bit. I only did it because Lenovo sold a configuration of that PC with a 1050ti and same PSU. V520 seems to only have been sold with no GPU or GT730.

@@urosnikolic7178 I think sharkbay is a 4th gen mobo for m93 and m93p, this m92p has a 3rd gen mobo. they all should support both of those graphics cards, with rx570 you just need to check that you have a sufficient PSU.

M93p has a different side panel mechanism (no hinges), 4th gen cpu etc, you can see in the end of the video that this has 3rd gen i5, so this is M92p.

Yes, i think RX 460 is the same card as 560, just rebranded, so it should work the same.

I have installed many different AMD cards in different ThinkCentres. Sometimes i've had issues but for me those have always been resolved by BIOS update and after that worked flawlessly.
