These kind of independent, non-sponsored, honest reviews are the ones to look for when doing real due diligence. Thank you, author! And hopefully, Ryzens would have improved thermals, across all the ThinkPads from this year, like T-series as well. I'm crossing fingers for you, Lenovo!

Thank you for your kind comments, which are greatly appreciated. I have also found since installing the latest bios and systems updates, which include thermal updates, and switching the power settings to ‘best power efficiency’ (which is more than adequate for using features such as Word), it tends to run quietly and with greatly reduced heat issues.

@@OvergoWorld Good to hear they addressed it somehow. I wonder though, if at this point, their options weren't limited to something like underclocking the machine. While MS Word and Excel certainly could do very important work, someone might need more CPU-intensive tasks and ideally such a top-tier machine should be able to handle it in an acceptable manner. I guess we should look for some benchmarks, comparing with other laptops with same CPUs and also later, with AMDs.

Thank you for the thorough and honest review! Some channels with large followings are claiming it doesn't run hot at all, etc. so I truly appreciate your honest user experience.

Thanks for your comments, much appreciated! I have had the same heat issue with the X1 Yoga Gen 8.

Unfortunately the 12th and 13th gen Intel processors have been the worst. They get hot, make a lot of noise, and have poor battery life. I'm looking forward to the Ryzen 7040 series processors which I think will be much more efficient and with much better iGPU.

I have bought the x1 11th gen with the intel "u" processor. No noise or heating problems. 12 hours battery life (websurfing and office use). Great machine. Don't buy the 10th gen or the OLED display. Bad battery life.

It has made a difference since Lenovo issued the firmware update to help with the thermals.

Hello! I understand that oled screens have problems, so do some macbook models and apple recognized the problem. In search of better battery performance, I think I'd go for the screen: "14" WUXGA (1920 x 1200), IPS, Anti-Glare, Non-Touch, 100%sRGB, 400 nits, 60Hz, Low Power, LED Backlight ". I also like that display "14" 2.2K (2240 x 1400), IPS, anti-glare, non-touch, 100% sRGB, 300 nits, 60Hz" but I have a doubt if 300 NITS is too little brightness. Which do you recommend? very grateful for the help.
@sdprsavu
@sdprsavu Год назад
@@C3s4rLuc0 Good choice but I would recommend the 400 nits screen. I have the 400 nits screen and it is good and enough but not perfect. 300 nits is defintely too low.

In my Gen 8 model 2020 I have a great 4K screen display. UHD(3840x2160). In Gen 11 the maximum screen resolution you can have is 3K (2880 x 1800), OLED. They have option of 1920 x 1200) too! in 2023! Why have they done this?
