I picked this up and finally got it delivered after being on backorder for 2 months from CDW. Couple things here: that mic quality is correctable, I was really struggling with it to start with, however you can adjust the mic in the Realtek app that's included. It takes some trial and error, but I got it to work just fine. The webcam is not as easily fixable, but there are adjustments available in the Lenovo Vantage app that make it usable (default settings are washed out and terrible quite frankly). I've got the i7-1180G7 and it KILLS. I could not believe the performance I was getting out of a laptop this light, thin, and with battery life for days. It took a while to get used to the 3:2 aspect ratio and some of the device's quirks, but a week in I can safely say this is replacing my MBP as my daily driver. Love it.

@@dayanadayana2741 1) I always turn "battery saver" on. 2) I used the default "balanced" power plan 3) I check the "Battery health" status/options in the Lenovo Vantage app to make sure I don't have a hardware problem if I start noticing battery poor performance 4)barring a bad battery, if nothing else works I will re-install Windows and start over.

Black bars when watching movies cannot possibly be a drawback because you get the same usable screen area as of any other screen of the same width

Hi. I purchased this laptop in part based on your great initial review, and I'm mostly loving it, but there are 2 issues that are bugging me. The touchpad is slow and somewhat erratic, and when I'm using the pen, it stops working fairly often for just a few seconds and then will work fine again. Was wondering if you've experienced either of these issues. Not dealbreakers, maybe, but very annoying. Thanks!

Thinkbook 14p gen2 is suppose to have 1080p webcam but who knows when and if will be available in north america... Cool thing about that laptop is 16:10 and ports in the back

Seems like a nice PC. Looks like a competitor to the HP Spectre 13.5. The camera in this unit is fair and sound from the mics is somewhat muffled. Could be better. Keyboard appearance is nice. Good contrast to seeing the figures on the keys. Like the ability to add 5G and 4G capability. Great "first looks" review. On another subject you might want to see "Just Joshes;" review of a MSI 15 Razer laptop he put up today and his experiences dealing with MSi's customer support service. It is unbelievable what some of these manufactures are getting away with. It just goes to show that when considering purchasing a PC part the the price should be in the quality of the customer support.

Update: After using this machine as my daily driver for 2.5 years, I've revised a few opinions from my initial review. #1) The performance on this machine just doesn't cut it in 2023. It struggles to do essential modern tasks like having Outlook, Teams, Zoom, PowerPoint, Word, and a browser open concurrently. It just can't handle it, even with a "premium" i7-1180G7. #2) I've reinstalled Windows 3 times since owning it due to Lenovo bloatware and performance degradation as applications and services pile up. #3) 16GB really limits this if you want to do any sort of virtualization work and was a poor choice for the max RAM #4) This thing was way overpriced when it came out (I paid almost $2600 out the door). Bottom line, in 2024 if you can find one of these for cheap (and I mean cheap), it might still be worth it. I wouldn't rely on it to be my only machine, however, so plan accordingly. Sad face.

good video. its 2.56 lbs. if it were 2 lbs, it would be compelling. X13 yoga gen 2 is 2.65 lbs and a much more well rounded 2 in 1.

Hey Andrew this Laptop is the closest to what my ideal laptop is on paper, buy I read on Notebookcheck its track pad registers unwanted clicks and is not accurate. Can you give us a more detailed overview on the trackpad including the impact of trackpad options on performance on the full review?

@@andrewmarcdavid That is great to hear. I added this back to the top of my list, I think I will wait for a couple other reviews to see if they also experience notebookcheck issues. But if not I am going with this unit. The only issue you found that affects me is poor mics, but I use wireless headphones 100% of the time so I can mitigate that issue easily.

Hi Andrew! Great first look, thanks! It is really helpful. I am strongly thinking about buying X1 Titanium myself. It is a bummer that they do not include the pen in the package in my country. I also cannot find Lenovo Precision Pen in shops anymore. Are you aware what other pens can be compatible with the laptop? You mentioned Wacom technology? I have the Surface Pen myself, but it is NTrig, I think. Best! Lucas

HP Elite laptops also use the same technology, also Toshiba does in some devices, but HP also uses ntrig in other lines, like the Spectre one.

It’s a great looking laptop. I the webcam is average quality and the mics didn’t sound very good. Not as good as the one you recently reviewed. I like the aspect ratio and color quality and the touch screen/pen.

@@andrewmarcdavid I found a refurbished Thinkpad X1 Yoga 2nd Gen for $870 on ebay! So I stopped looking for thinkpads. The Thinkpad X1 Yoga 2nd Generation was the last of them who came with a SDcard reader, it has 'normal usb' and actually everything one really needs. And it came with 16gb ram, and i7 7600U, 256 SSD. Wonderful thing.

I typically like Lenovo laptops but this one...not so much. I like the 3:2 screen ratio as well but thinness to the point of having to eliminate all legacy ports and eliminating upgradeableness is not a good tradeoff for me. Not a fan of having the only two useful ports on the same side (having to run a cable around the back to charge)..if you are stuck with 2 ports put one on each side of the laptop. Also not crazy about the glossy screen. Man that webcam sucked..web cam mics were one of, if not the worst I've ever heard...did you get a defective webcam? Small battery...ugh. WAY WAY WAY too many negatives on this laptop for my liking.
