The best version of Never In My Life ever recorded, in my opinion. Leslie was just on fire on this tour. Recorded during the "Night of the Guitar" event at Hammersmith Odeon in London on Nov. 26, 1988.

I've seen 50 years of hard rock and heavy metal from the very beginning to today, and NEVER IN MY LIFE has anyone gotten that thunderous TONE that Leslie does. I was priveledged to see him several times, including the tour where he played this Steinberger/Marshall set up and have never heard anything as spine chilling before or since. He was truly the King of Tone. RIP Leslie.

He speaks music through his guitar. Mountain played a free show at the univ of tampa and when the man came on stage with his les paul jr i thought he was playing a toy. But leslie had that guitar singing such sweet sounds. I've seen EC, led zep, pink floyd, and they all played their songs great but Leslie was his songs.

Simply fantastic, love Leslie West, stood back stage right one night, with my jaw dropped, as he played on of my buddy's brand new Marshall amp, and cranked it to 11, he only could rent 2, needed 3, so we ran home and got his, my friend was crapping his pants, rofl, was one of the best time ever.

yeah, most people I speak to think West is from down south, especially because of his worldwide smash hit Mississippi Queen. He was actually born in Forest Hills (Queens, NY). However he was raised on jazz and the blues, and thats why its so evident in his playing. People were afraid to approach Leslie (maybe because of his size) until Howard Stern gave him a voice and ear in the mid '80s. Thats when fans learned he was sharp and down to earth, and a very funny guy.

I was driving home at 2AM loaded and I heard this wailing guitar while I sat at a red light. being in my own band I said to myself "man I have to go in and check that out," it was leslie West. he was playing a les paul jr. by himself with a small marshall amp on a one foot high triangle platform in the corner of the bar, I sat had a beer & watched him play.. as I left I said to him, "that was great man" he said thanks and that he was there to help out a friend.
