Hi friend! I had never heard of Jim Thorpe, the athlete, nor the city. A really colorful town!! The colors of the city are superb. I am delighted with the colors. Jim Thorpe really is a great little town. I love the architecture and the colorful buildings too. The athlete was amazing. He won gold medals in track events and played professional baseball and football. Have a great weekend.

This was awesome. So many beautiful shots of Jim Thorpe. I never knew about the ruins, so I'm glad you were able to give us a peek at them with the drone.
Thank you. Jim Thorpe is a great little town. The ruins were actually filmed without the drone but I can see how someone could think that. There were so many no trespassing signs there I felt uncomfortable using the drone. My original plan was to fly and film the ruins but this was the last part of a very long day there. I was exhausted. Hand held was also easier and quicker.

Thank you. I always appreciate your views and wonderful comments. Jim Thorpe is a great little town. In the 60s, 70s, and 80s it was a mess. It went down to only six businesses. Look how much it has improved since then. It was fun filming this. It’s been a while since I used the drone for so many hours. I was exhausted at the end of the day. Have a great week.
The colors really pop in this one. 👍 Great drone work in tight quarters too. As you know, I'm a big fan of the history elements you include as well. A noticeable Scandinavian influence in some of the architecture there. A very interesting location. Nice job, Craig. 👌👍
Thank you Darryl. I usually prefer to fly the drone around the tops of the buildings when I fly it. I feel that most people go so high up. This is a nice little town with a lot of history. I saw on another RU-vid channel where the guy said Jim Thorpe was in real bad shape during the 60s 70s and 80s. He said the town was down to six businesses then. As you can see it made a huge improvement.

Thank you. I never heard of Placerville. I’ve been to CA several times. Lived in San Diego for a short while, and as a kid I used to visit my grandmother often in the suburbs of LA. I also subbed your channel as well. I love all the hikes.
Another excellent video! I'm planning a series of videos in Jim Thorpe. It is one of my favorite areas to visit and nearly in my backyard. I must say I admire your piloting skills with the drone! Thank you. I was exhausted after a day of filming this video. Lots of walking everywhere and it’s hilly. The architecture is quite different than in FL where I feel like everything is fresh white stucco and modern. Many of the buildings in JT are from the 1800s. Have a great week.
I love this town. My mom and I go up every summer and take a train ride. I went up for Halloween one year in the fall and it was so crowded I thought i was in a major European city. I've taken the mansion tour before, very informative. Hopefully this summer I can tour the old jail. There is some great hiking in the area too!
It is a nice little getaway. Unfortunately, it does get overcrowded at times. I have never been on the train there or any other tour there. I always just look at things from the outside. Have a great week.

This does look a really interesting place to explore. There are many older buildings so very well presented. Not a lot of resemblance to Switzerland though. There are many places around the world that borrow from other cities or places in order to generate more interest in themselves. The are so many "Little Venices", "Paris of the East, West or wherever" or like here places that liken themselves to Switzerland. I believe Ouray in Colorado calls itself the Switzerland of America. Many countries have their own "Little Switzerlands". Jim Thorpe is interesting enough without the need for such associations. Hope you have a great weekend. Best wishes from the UK.
I have never been to Switzerland but I do not think Jim Thorpe looks like it at all. It’s just a way to hopefully bring in tourists. I have also heard of all the places that claim to be a little Venice. Have a great weekend.

Really? I’m assuming you heard of him before? In doing my research for this video I also discovered that he played baseball with the New York Giants for six years. Yes baseball, not the football Giants. However, he did play for a bunch of teams in the NFL, and won Olympic gold medals in I believe it was track events. He was quite the athlete.
