Guys/Girls who never participated in high level sports growing up literally have no idea or reference as to what "working hard" truly means. Anyone transitioning from a high level sport into the realm of just lifting weights understand the difference mentally between going into the gym for a workout compared to having to get ready for PRACTICE. Like Mike said, this shit is fun.

I had my shoulder replaced 2 years ago and was turned onto you post rehab. I've followed you since and have the most gains by far pre surgery. When I walk into the gym, I'll do 18 - 20 sets for a bodypart and I'm done in 45 minutes, give or take. Thanks for what you do.

Damn! That’s wild! Any advice on that? That sounds intense

@@theelement6255not really...just take 45-90 seconds between sets, don't bullshit with people until my training is done. 20 sets for shoulders yesterday (rear/medial/front) 45 minutes...including 1 bathroom piss break. And following Mike's tips, etc. has changed my training so much....for the good. Get it and forget it...

Mike you need to read this study called : What is repeated in a repetition? Effects of practice conditions on motor skill acquisition You will see how this study confirms many of your beliefs as far as how to train.

So much time on the phone. I like to hustle to the next set at my age it’s better for me. In my 20’s I’d hold back to rest between sets but I was pushing it.

U can make it stressful though. 4 plates aside leg press, 20 reps, pause at bottom and really squeeze the push. 5 sets, it’s brutal, for me at least. I could just press like a reckless maniac and make the sets easier. But why

Results or lack of will tell you everything you need to know. Just pay attention to the feedback your body is giving you. This is not hard at all.

Thats the thing... I've been at this pretty hard for 2.5 years, and at 59... I just don't know what is "expected". I have so many limiting factors that "could" be at play, i don't know if I am right where i deserve to be, or I am leaving gains on the shelf. @@robertauclair2278

Time under Tension should be 30 seconds for Upper body, 40 seconds for Legs. Get you some medium-heavy weight & move it with relatively perfect form & no hitches throughout your reps for that entire time? No exercise will require MORE than 3 working sets like that.

They won’t lower the weight no matter what, even you help them for free. Play with phones, talk , don’t know any of the exercises, spend to hours on incline presses with the buddy coaching them, sled pulls very popular, I just go , wear headphones and leave , if you’re in the gym more than 45 minutes, I don’t know
