This is a very impressive build. I especially appreciate that is not requiring any of the exploit mechanics. Great work G

You always come up with really neat, efficient and relatively compact builds for these machines. Possible alternative production chains include wild farming arbor trees, feeding pdirt to poke shells for lime to make steel (possibly obsolete with endless tungsten/niobium/thermium?) and using that sand with poxygen to make oxygen and clay to make ceramic. Ceramic seems more important now given how difficult it is to make insulation.

Nice. You could remove the dependency on external sand presumably by swapping some of the composts for a small starvation ranch of poke shells. It's a tradeoff in that you get slightly less dirt out obviously.

Great video man! Love the idea (modular thing) and presentation is perfect (explanation, annotation showing what goes in and out). I expect this channel will grow very large if you continue making content like you are (this stuff and factory series).

Cool design! For me, a bunch of domestic pips and bunch of wild trees works better though, just much less temperature management and less materials to build.

You know, if you are feeding CO2 to slicksters, using the heated dirt may be a good temperature regulator to keep your slicksters warm.

I would love to see the numbers on this if you run a single fertilizer synthesizer and fertilize the trees

This would push the limit of 96 tiles for a greenhouse, even with the pneumatic doors in place. Seconded that it would be nice to see, there’s even the option to drop them in a carbon pit to naturally filter out the natural gas they produce.

Thank you for your video. Its really enlighten me about how to produce dirt with positif net result. I think I should try this on my duplicant base. Greetings from Indonesia

FYI: You don't need to micromanage and prune the branches...just build ladders in the middle columns either side of the center trees until the outer tree branches have formed. Then deconstruct and the center tree will have all the space it needs!

It's a really cool village! It really showcases how much you can produce with arbor trees. On another hand, in Spaced Out!, I really feel like it would be more profitable to use all the excess pdirt for oxygen production instead of dirt. Sustainable oxygen production a lot more important than sustainable dirt production.
@greezyhammer764
@greezyhammer764 2 года назад
Could definitely feed p-dirt into a gassifier type deal.
@Tamizushi

@@greezyhammer764 The most straightforward approach to clean the po2 would be a deodorizer. That's a great way to create a lot of clay. But eventually you get too much clay and not enough filtration medium, at which point you want to switch to cold based oxygen purification. If you cool down p02 until it becomes a liquid, and then you reheat it, it will become clean oxygen. With a proper heat exchanger, you should be able to reheat the outgoing clean oxygen with the next batch of po2. This should convert 100$ of the oxygen instead of 90%, and it's probably doable in a smaller area.

I was overthinking the dupe pathing and read a bit more into it after coming up with a transit tube ‘elevator’ into the work place (you don’t need a transit hub to exit) and a fire pole back down for transportation and I’m now totally bummed out. Apparently dupes with sufficient athletic skill on plastic ladders are faster going up than ones in tubes. Having said that, great build! Edit: Would still like to recommend adding fire poles and swapping the position of the top right compost with the generators to decrease duplicant travel times. Also have you considered merging the steam turbines with the generators into an actual power plant? No such thing as over-engineering, just room to expand with new ideas.

what about a fertilizer synthesizer method using a cooker to produce dirt from fertilizer? i know it likely would be less effective, but it would be available on the asteroids that don't feature arbors. also, recycling the co2 through scrubbers would feed a lot of trees. a standard 4 distiller, single generator system produces enough co2 to run at least 4 scrubbers. accounting for the 750 g/s you would be producing 4750 g/s or 2850 kg per cycle of polluted water. this is enough for 40.7 trees. if it takes 7 trees to support one distiller, then you could run 20 extra distillers driving 5 petroleum generators.
@greezyhammer764
@greezyhammer764 2 года назад
For this particular build I tried to minimize the number of trees, but we can definitely scale it up!

Cant allways use Wheezeworts if its a hot Plant for example.. and theres not always a Reactor near by Dx Theres not much content for this Topic... Would u mind to do a vid about it? I wonder, that if you would use fertilizer for the trees, the machine would still make more dirt, than is used to make the fertilizer 😐

@@greezyhammer764 true but natural trees require no water and pips poop normal dirt and make bbq - you can also use fertiliser and grub grubs to grow trees quicker. Just a thought.

@@greezyhammer764 So there's no advantage? You don't gain more dirt from composting vs heating it up? I'm only asking because I switched up from composts to a simple room with my hot petrolleum pipe running through. I would be sad if it produced less.

fancy stuff, but i can't help but wonder why to built one of those (apart from doing it for the sake of building something fancy). if you have trees, then you also have pips, and pips produce dirt (and meat) for free if you just let them plant the trees wild. not the same amount of course, but at this stage you no longer need much dirt anyway (outhouses? research? mealwood?). all that comes to mind is sleet wheat (provided you don't just grow that wild as well) or hatches/sage hatches (they eat something you have to produce. pips do not). don't get me wrong, this... dirt industry complex is cool and all, but since pips are just so good, it seems unnecessary to build such a beast.

on the large terra cluster start there are no pips and there is only one arbor tree on the ocean planet. I can use this strat to make my all my planets self sustainable! I will probably use fertilizer instead of the grubgrubs though. I thought about cheating in some pips but decided not to and now I'm glad I didn't!

Vole farm late game...in the DLC regolith only occurs on a particular asteroid so you either feed them dirt or make a lot of rocket trips hauling cargo.
