Never mind our faces! My mother-in-laws' body. She was in a vegetative state for nearly four years and we nursed her at home. We turned her frequently and rubbed her with 50/50 glycirin and surgical spirit. She developed NOT ONE bedsore. The doctors were amazed at her condition. Just mentioned it for what its worth.

Hi dr Idriss, I am a 74 year old French woman living in the US. I’ve just discovered your channel and I have been binging on yourvideos. I found this episode very interesting: My mother had beautiful skin up to her 80’s. When I grew up, she never had disposable income to spend on expensive skin care. Our family doctor advised to do use glycerin instead. This was in the early 50s, and she did so all her life on face and hands. Some years ago, I bought some glycerin at CVS but it was not like it. It was very thick and syrupy and unpleasant on the skin. I discovered recently the Now brand on Amazon. It is still quite thick but I use it on my legs and arms as my skin is very dry and dehydrated. Nowdays I have the luxury of having time for it to be absorbed. I will try some of the products you suggested. I have over the years tried the Norwegian cream . It is very efficatious on the hands in winter, but I hate the feel. Can’t wait to see what you are coming with with your new formula. Keep up with ‘Shereen University”. Besides being very enjoyable, it is useful in making wiser choices and better use of our products. A big thank you!

I feel the same way.. i hate the feeling of glycerin on my skin and glycerin based products 😑 I guess i could water it down but doesn’t that beat the purpose? I would be watering everything else down… and if i have hard water…. I also heard from a reputable dr i personally know, that glycerin feeds bacteria. He recommends against antibacterial hand gels, specially the ones with glycerin bc not only do they not actually work to kill bacteria, the glycerin actually feeds the bacteria. Nothing beats your good ol’ warm water and soap hand wash. I still stay away from glycerin. I do put an occlusive oil over my HA containing products. I prefer oil to sticky glycerin. It feels more natural.

It's so important to get facts from people in the business like doctors, chemists, and aestheticians. Thank you for all the content and no-frills, honest recommendations. It has truly helped me in gathering data to determine what I should stay away from and the percentages of actives I should stick to for my poor dry, sensitive skin. I was hoping you could go through some suggestions for people with eczema prone skin, especially those of us that get it in our face, neck and chest area. As I've gotten older my skin has become more sensitive and it has been a challenge to find formulas that are effective for brightening and texture issues that won't cause a flare up.

This information is fascinating. My mother taught me to always use glycerin on my face. She made her own 'brew'. Pure glycerin and a half of lemon juice with the squeezed out lemon rind left to float in the jar. Shake it up to mix and put it on your face and neck every night. I remember watching her in awe as she applied it to her face and neck every day.

Glycerin I've found so wonderful for deeply hydrating and maintaining that hydration throughout the day! At high percentages I feel it helps to "seal in" moisture. I've recently started using the La Roche Posay Cicaplast hand cream as my facial moisturizer. It has 30% glycerin and 4% niacinamide. It's has a almost like a super thick gel consistency. I absolutely love it. It layers great under my sunscreen too.

I started out with hyaluronic acid (HA) and sooo wanted it to work on my dry skin, since everyone seemed to be hyped on HA. After a few days using HA during the very dry air conditions of German winter I realized that HA is basically sucking out water from my skin, leaving it dry and flaky. I guess at least during winter time HA is just not working for me. However, glycerin works super well as a humcetant for me, I love it. On top, it's so much easier to purchase :)

I realize that anything for him with HA in it was chapping him more despite it having other great ingredients. Thanks so much for the education.

@MrsDragon76
@MrsDragon76 Год назад
@@syloosh the baume B5 is thicker and is better for winter months and the Aveeno is gel based so better for summer. This is what works for us. You can choose based on your climate. I’m in Canada so we have very cold winters that chap the skin and humid hot summers so anything to thick just feels gross on the skin when it’s humid.
