With a gust of wind, the duo finds themselves in the City of Haze. The thick dismal muck claims refuge to the twisted denizens of the foggy streets.
Somewhere high up in the rich district lies the lair of Dullahan, the cursed knight fated to decimate all those who impede on the sanctified grounds. There is one element that the demonic knight has forgotten and that is the unadulterated angst of cocky heroes!

The first boss making you use a potion is quite the sign of things to come. This game definitely has some of the tougher bosses in the series, so we'll see if you manage to keep up the streak! It's definitely gonna be a challenge. And yeah, I'm super glad they changed up the weapon system, the whole finding better weapons by exploring, some by doing Wind's quests, and sometimes rare drops works much better honestly.

Hey yeah, this game has and steep difficulty when it comes to bosses. Dullahan's purple spirit attack kills you in 2 2 hits at full health. The future looks bleak for that streak hahaha. I am with you on fidning weapons versus pointless grinding! That was Dawn of Sorrow's biggest crime.

Ah yes i rem the City of Haze I rem you well. That first boss was tough! I thought you might have kicked the bucket there but the potion and you avoiding him ofc is what kept that deathless streak alive. I always hated when you paused on SOTN and COTM and everything went silent and then the music friggen started over uggh. Personally i always liked the anime style these games presented. Charlette's a beast!

Oh yes, this game can end you very quick if you lose track of your health. I also disliked the muted music when pausing in the early games, yay that isn't a thing anymore! It's not my favorite style they have portrayed but it works for the most part. She is indeed a beast!

Having your MP double as your partner's HP becomes a pretty serious liability when your tag-along's Artificial Stupidity makes them rush chin-first at the boss. The Blattyvania Deathless Run is in jeopardy! Also, much like in Dawn of Sorrow, the true standout track in the next game is actually some ways in, instead of showing up right on the starting level. Thus, the winner of the Kickass First Area Music Award is definitely Portrait of Ruin with "Invitation of a Crazed Moon".

Oh man, I think you and I are thinking the same thing with the next game's *cough* "first music" track. And if we are indeed on the same page, I completely agree with you. If the track in question played as the first area in OoE, then it would take the throne hands down. I even planned to unnecessarily preface that fact in the future!

We are absolutely on the same page, good sir. (Though I will be kind to -- okay, enough beating around the bush -- Order of Ecclesia and stipulate that the "first level" is not that tutorial zone you start in, so it can still at least claim a decent First Level Tune.)

You recommend not watching this in fullscreen? I'm watching it in fullscreen on a 27 inch screen, looks fine to me. Another great video though. Castlevania always has some great and unique enemies like those giant floating jellyfish.

Well that works for me! The uploaded resolution is 1280x720 and the raw video is some goofy resolution a little lower than that. Thanks Jake, the myriad of strange monsters is one of the great parts of the game!
