Having the ability to teleport across the station, our lone robot can now further explore the environments once barred. One such place is where sand rock grants habitation to its denizens. You can almost smell the damp sediment throughout...but I wonder if the robot can?

It's really cool when you get to sections where the different biotopes intersect each other and nature just kind of goes crazy, like the waterfall of sand, underwater! That is the best part about space for me. The idea that you can have all of these landscapes where nature, as we know it, is off just enough that it becomes fascinating. Like the moon Titan, where apparently you could see lakes and maybe even rain clouds of methane. It's nice of the developers to play with that concept.

Great comment, love the intersection of biotopes like you said. Underwater sand falls, count me in! Interesting to know about Titan and the makeup of that moon as well!

You're definitely right that this game has that right mix of charm and eerieness. It's one of those same qualities that drew me to Hollow Knight, personally. This game does lean much more into that Metroid-y sense of isolation, though, and it works very nicely in its favor. The 8-bit style adds to the alien feel of it, I'd say. And with the sand waterfall in place, that's a nice little nod to Maridia from Super Metroid there! Underrated area, atmosphere and tunes there are great, so it's nice to see that inspiration sticking around. I always appreciate secret areas putting you in a position where figuring out advanced techniques is the way to go. Not only is it rewarding to nail them and get what they hide, but then you start thinking "ok but how and where can I use it in the main game" and it opens up so many more options. You don't really need them and you could go the entire game without even being aware of them, but once you know how they work? The fun really gets going.

Oh yeah Hollow Knight had that nice mixture of creepiness (maybe because of all the crawling bugs!) and charm all at the same time. I like giving the alien descriptor to this game because of the 8-bit style...that's a nice way to put it! I think secret areas and especially ones leading to unessential rewards should push a certain mechanic to its max in order to encourage the full utilization of said mechanics. ESa is in no short of doing that and there will much more to come!

It sounds like you're streaming this live every so often. Is that the case? Or do you just have a really fast monologue with yourself? :D
