Having Mario be playable in Luigi’s game would, like, completely defeat the purpose of Luigi’s mansion

Personally I hope this is a hybrid of the past two games. Give me the structure, portrait ghosts and secrets of the first game, and the puzzles and expressions of the second, and I'll be happy. This is now my most anticipated Switch game of 2019, so I'm really excited to see what they show us next.

Luigi's Mansion 3 was teased in Simon's reveal trailer but I didn't want to get my hopes up too much. I KNEW the Poltergust was off model for a reason!...

I mean at the end of dark moon, doesn't Luigi take Polterpup in as his pet? That means Potlerpups presences in the game may be to help Luigi similarly to how it was in dark moon with golden bones.

Gotta be honest! I don't really want playable characters that aren't just other Luigis. I think having other characters, particularly Mario, would take away from this being Luigi's own game. Especially if they play differently, cause there's definitely gonna be someone better than Luigi, making playing as him pointless. In his own game. I dunno. Just my opinion.

Luigi, Mario, Peach, and Toad went on a vacation to a "world famous Hotel" but it turns out it's a trap and the big bad kidnapped everyone. The portraits that are crossed out is the big bad's hit list, and somehow Luigi escaped without the big bad knowing. The hotel is one big area and you have access to several areas and maybe multiple floors at first, but LOTS of it is locked behind keys and story progression. Peach will likely be the last person you save, and I'd argue that each character you save gives you some sort of upgrade. The shot of the fifth floor is from later in the game and the wanted poster proves this as it's after the big bad has found out that Luigi has escaped, and Luigi probably escapes via E. Gadd and polterpup who E. Gadd has trained, and you'll probably be able to use polterpup as a means of fighting ghosts. E. Gadd is likely part of the story because he was studying the hotel before Luigi and co showed up. This is what I assume the game is gonna be like. Also, since it's a hotel, the portrait ghosts will probably be back, but they wont be "portrait ghosts" but rather previous guests of the hotel and ovbiously there wont be one per room, but maybe one or two per floor.

I really, *really* want Daisy to make an appearance. Her and Luigi could have a hilarious reverse dynamic of Mario and Peach, and I really hope she’s in this game so they can play with that.

I like the idea of being trapped at the top of the tower and having to work your way down to get out. But, I would like to see them go a step further. Instead of the game ending at the ground level, it is revealed that you need to go deep into the large basement to truly escape. It would allow some nice theming for the later floors. Think of the levels taking ideas from underground tunnels, catacombs(spooky), underwater caverns(creepy) and of course underworld(fitting for a ghost story, and possibly the final floor). It's an idea.

Calling it now, the device Luigi uses will be called the "Nintendo Scream". Also, if there is not a hotel Mario reference, I will be very disappointed.

Can we just appreciate Luigis startling animation at 11:00? He FIRST looks in the direction of the anomaly, THEN jumps up while fully turning his head, just realizing what actually happened, and LASTLY going from the jumpscare (pun not intended) to being actually scared. The balance between the pure shock transforming into genuine fear is awesome. That animation not only looks real smooth, but is also really belivable and realistic. Thats the thing that impressed me the most so far tbh. I think I`ll get a switch and the game, it looks super fun in general, and as someone who started with the second game (which means I dont have to deal with the flaws it has compared to the first, which I want to play in the near future on the 3DS), I really appreciate they kept the design. Last thing that has to fit for me is that the varient leveldesign from dark moon is carried over and that the story is at least decent. And yes, the portrait ghosts should return. Even though I only saw short clips of them in various videos, I love the idea. But I think not including them in LM 2 was a good idea, as they would have weakened that alienating feeling you get everytime you go to a new mansion, which happens everytime that feeling is about to wear off. Only my personal opinion though, even though I now know they exist, I didn`t really miss them in dark moon. On the other hand, I havent played the first one yet, so yeah... Also, I`ve just watched the teaser in slow motion, so here are some things I found interesting: - I kinda have to disagree with Arlo about the game not being that scary. It`s true that the artstyle hinders that to a certain extend, but 1. the graphics are way better, so you could negate that factor in some parts, and 2., the proportions are very different from dark moon. they are more realistic, meaning that the world has become bigger in comparison to Luigi (you can see that very well with the doors who are way bigger than in Dark moon). - at 14:50, Arlo goes on in great length about those pictures. What I noticed about them is that other than potentially hinting at something, I kind of feel that their artstyle doesnt fit in this game. Matter of fact, I am pretty sure i`ve seen them in another Mario game. Dunno, just got a feeling there. - The jetpack part confused me a bit. I mean sure, Luigi`s scared easily, but being startled by a jetpack option he activates himself? It kind of seems off to me, but I think im interpreting too much here (again, those animations on his face tho). Also, the ghost janking at the carpet has a bow tie and some sort of portier hat. If ghosts really are dressed customly in this game, in contrast to just looking differently based on what they can do like in dark moon, I am one happy boy. - If Luigi activates his Poltergust, he uses this horizontal grip, and I actually really like it. A further detail that gets the Poltergust away from looking just like a normal vacuum cleaner. - 18:25 And lastly the green flashlight buttons are back. Just one detail, not that special really.

Minor nitpick but who else misses just the way the old ghosts sounded? Like I loved all of them but in particular my favourite was that one ghost that would hang from the ceiling and drop a bomb. His laugh was amazing and honestly I just wanna hear a ghost with that laugh again.

I want a mix between the two Luigi's Mansion styles: each floor is its own mini mansion (about the size of the first game) but you can choose each floor, maybe like an elevator, like you could choose each mansion in Dark Moon. Have lots of portrait ghosts (or guest ghosts, if we're being thematic), cut down on repetitive Polterpup antics, lots of puzzles, abilities (like the fire & ice of the first game), new ways to change up combat, & a new main villain that isn't King Boo. That's just me, I guess.

I hope Daisy makes an appearance but I think that's a stretch. I'd like to see her character break from the Mario side games and make an appearance in a mainstream game. Especially with Luigi.

When a was 11-12, I remember my parents went to a friend's funeral! It was far away, so they didn't take us kids! But I stayed home and played luigi's mansion - thinking about that dead friend of the family while playing REALLY creeped me out and now, at 23, luigi's mansion still gives me goosebumps!

This is a great video. It’s fair and balanced with regards to the two Luigi’s Mansion games. And then, you have TheBitBlock, who pretty much said "It looks like Dark Moon, it’s gonna suck".

Regarding the design of the game, it looks a bit empty. But I would add that this was the case last year with Yoshi. And when seeing the new Yoshi's trailer I was really happy to see that the first one was really a work in progress. Hoping the same for Luigi's Mansion 3!

My only problem so far is the graphics/art style. It looks a bit dull. However, Yoshi did the same, and it looks great now.

Hopefully new portrait ghosts. I only played the second, but I watched an LP of the first and discovered how much charm the portrait ghosts brought to the game. That would make the game for me, even if they keep the 3DS structure

One thing that a lot of people overlook when making the "it should've been on switch" argument is that making a 3DS game (specially with an engine already in place) is, quite simply, a lot cheaper. The graphics are close to being two or three generations behind. A lot of times the game is either on the 3DS or there is no game, its not a coincidence that we got so many remakes not only on 3DS, but in DS aswell, nintendo will not likely risk reselling a game but with the developing cost of a brand new triple A game. I'm just happy that we are getting so many remakes and revisions to old games, regardless of the system.

It's hilarious that the most viewed part of the video was where Arlo abruptly started dancing to TheFatRat. And this feature was added 3 or 4 years after he uploaded this video. For anyone who wants to know; the music playing was Time Lapse by TheFatRat.

I think and I hope the final look of the game is like the art for Dark Moon, having a slight cartoon theme but with darker and more gritty textures giving it it's own identity.

Still waiting for Waluigi's Shack...

Only played Luigi Mansion 2 but believe the first is superior. Mainly because of the portrait bosses giving an edge over the sequel. Can't wait to buy the 3ds remaster next month!

Been looking forward to this video all week. I have been craving a third game in the series for YEARS. I'm so happy it's finally happening. I just hope it is similar to the first game.

I REALLY hope Daisy is in this game, and as a playable character. Nintendo has been teasing us with their relationship for far too long. The only thing in the trailer that might hint to that is the women's room in the music hall, since Luigi wouldn't be able to go in there.

i was really hoping for a switch port of weegee 1, so when they announced it for 3ds, i was bummed. and i knew they wouldn't make luigi's mansion 3 for the switch, either. BUT THEN THE WEIRDEST THING HAPPENED

So, I noticed there are so many different tools this new version of the Poltergeist. What if you combine the tools to make for more interesting puzzles. Like you can use the plunger to stick onto a moving wall, then you can suck on the rope of the plunger with your vacuum nozzle and then you move around the wall to solve the puzzle.

The tall, skinny ghosts shown in the trailers actually share a resemblance to the “Hiders” of the second game. Their tall, skinny form and blue-ish color + their popping out of stuff definitely made me thing “hiders” upon first glance -I was waiting for some sorta mentioning hiders in the video (or even the comments) and was a little disappointed to see/hear none-

I really hope it's not level based like Luigi's Mansion 2, Luigi's Mansion was one of the first games I ever played and I love it so much I like dark moon but it's not as good and I wanted to explore. Anyway it's nice to see you agree somewhat Arlo.

Something else about Dark Moons format is being able to revisit events. Bosses, special layouts, cutscenes and dialogue were all able to be revisited. Hopefully they manage to include that in a non mission based game because I love being able to revisit old parts.

I think the reason why luigi's mansion1 is being ported to the 3ds is that it's frickin 4 hours long and they are not going to waste time, money and effort to make a four hour game look good for an hd console. yes. a lot of people want it but if thet had announce it for the switch people would be like "wtf nintendo why are you charging me $60 for a 16 years old game that i can complete within 2 hours?!!" I think it'd be cool if the pacing was a mix of both. The mission system stays, however, you don't NEED to go back. Every mission would be intertwined to lead directly into each other, but E. Gadd would still call you to ask if you want to go back to the lab. You can go back and start a mission you've already played any time and you'll just start off where E. Gadd would've stopped to send you back to the lab.

The ghosts from Luigis Mansion were made by Vincent Van Ghoul who painted those specific ghosts. The ones from Dark Moon are actual ghosts.

I hope theirs a quest system you don't have to do the quest but at the front desk a friendly ghost or a blind ghost or just something would give you the quests save data and/or ... Collectibles when you find them you could get rewards like cash for ... Upgrades getting new stuff for your poltergust to make combat more interesting

Confession: I’ve never played either one of them.. I know.. I know, I should have by now. Especially considering I love Halloween and Mario. But I am excitedly play the 3rd one! I hope it comes out around Halloween next year, because that would be perfect. 🎃

They just have to put the Dark Moon Gameplay in a Giant Mansion, maybe a few Portrait Ghosts.

I take joy in seeing the delicious animations provided in a Luigi's Mansion game. I just love seeing Luigi's personality shine throughout the game, kinda like watching a 3D animated Luigi cartoon. Both games are great, but the first one wins for me. Mainly because you play the game from start to finish in one Mansion. Whereas the second game feature "level selections" which I'm down with that, but I like it better when I'm just focusing on one place instead of a whole bunch of other mansions with lots of going back to the menu screen after you clear a mansion.

This might be a bit out there but from the cake shaped like a crown that looks vaguely similar to wart's crown from smb2, the smb2 lineup, and the slightly dreamy aesthetic of this hotel, I think that the main cast is trapped in a dream hotel with Wart as the villain. It's a stretch and I may be a bit biased because I want Nintendo to bring back some more obscure Mario villains but I think it's possible.

Personally I think Luigi's Mansion 3 would benefit from not being like either of the first two games and instead being a MetroidVania-type game where you can explore the mansion at your own will.

When playing Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon, all I was thinking the entire time was "Man, I wish this was more like the first game." There's good parts to Dark Moon, but I really dislike the more bite-sized level design (even though I understand the decision, it was a handheld game afterall). Egadd pulling me out of the mission every 5 minutes just to have to go back into the same level from the start with everything reset was annoying at best. Then they made me do it what, 5 times in the first mansion? It was tiring for me. The original has it's flaws too, but the level design and feel was just better even if the game was extremely short when you know the direct paths to take to finish the game. Also yes, I prefer the original Ghost designs way more for whatever reason. I didn't like the much more cartoony designs. Portait Ghosts also has so much character. If there's one thing I want Luigi's Mansion 3 to do, it's to provide a level design closer to the first game, even if there's multiple mansions again. I just want larger puzzle levels to go through that don't interrupt you every couple of minutes to reset the level again.

I have to disagree that lighting can't play off of cartoony graphics. Wind Waker HD looked way better than the original Wind Waker due in large part to the enhanced lighting. I do share your preference for the original art style though.

With the mission structure, the whole “I get interrupted every 20 minutes” is very much a mentality thing. My personal play through, I fully expected to go back to base often, and knew that later missions would have more areas, more treasure, and the environment in optional areas could change to reflect an evolving world. Basically, missions structures, and linearity in general, are never inherently bad, it’s how you think of them. If you prefer to have freedom at all (or more) times, then that’s what you prefer, and that’s not a problem. Saying that because a game is linear it’s bad is a problem, because that’s an opinion. Like this whole comment. If you’d like to refute my argument, go for it. I’d like to know what you think.
