As C.S Lewis once said: "We don't need more Christian stories, we need more Christian storytellers," as in people who can tell good stories with Christian allegory.

The hilarious bit is the fact that there is a parody/ spoof movie released a year prior to this movie made by The Cinema Snob called "Jesus Bro " that has the exact same plot as this movie .

Fun fact, the guy who played Pastor Vinny was a mob boss named Michael Franzese, I know some people will probably know about it. Just decided to pit that out, since I found it weird, but he was renounced crime years ago and became Christian, so it makes some sense, just really weird

Honestly, the only good Christian movies are the ones featuring 3d animated singing vegetables. OG veggie tales is the only Christian media that manages to be legitimately entertaining without being pure cringe.

The fact that Kevin Sorbo's depiction of an atheist debating with a Christian has "THERE'S NO GOD BECAUSE OF MY PERSONAL TRAGEDY!" as the main crux of his argument proves that he's never seen an atheist vs theist debate in his life.

Seems like the kind of movie that reminds me why I don't watch Christian movies even if I'm a christian.

Wouldn't an intellectual atheist understand that death is inevitable and not even believe god was real?

Sorbo may have been driving drunk, but at least he was sober enough to put his seatbelt on. Also no broken bones? Not even a tiny scratch on his face??

One of my biggest problems with this movie, as well as God's Not Dead, is the same as with Fifty Shades of Grey. The whole "The only reason this type of person can be "weird" is due to trauma" which is just so much bullshit.

I’m a Christian and I agree with you on atheists in these movies only being atheists based on a tragic backstory. I actually have a friend who is atheist and he isn’t one based on a tragedy. These movies could actually be good if they try to be a little more realistic on the portrayal of their characters lol

Am I the only one that's on the kid's side? First his dad goes off the rails, dumps his mum, messy divorce, he becomes an alcoholic noisily profiting off family tragedy. The parents bicker, because the mum not unreasonably feels he should respect their privacy. Then dad gets in a drunken car crash and before you can say "brain injury and severe depression" he has a complete personality transplant and suddenly wants to get back with the mum that he dumped, from divorced and bickering to married in about a week. He seems to have a better understanding of healthy relationships and red flags than the adults, which is worrying.

The pastor is played by michael franzese, he was a caporegime of the colombo family mafia. This literally just made my day 1000 times better.

There was actually a study done showing the link between father issues, emotional feelings towards a fatherly deity and atheism. It was done because of Sigmund Freud. He was a militant atheist, but after his death his daughter provided personal writings where he seemed to talk about and to a God.

Ok wait a damn minute. I took a CPR Class when I was a camp counselor, and our theacher said and I quote, “If the brain does not get oxygen for 4 minutes that person becomes brain dead”. God... Relationship with the Lord is more complex than these movies always make it seem. I understand why atheists and agnostics roll their eyes over these horrible movies based on such a shallow understanding of their own faith. Yeah, I can see why Christan movies fall flat on their faces when it comes to serious topics. I belive they can be done well if the stop the propaganda and emotional tuging on the heart strings. When you use emotional arguments to hold true to your beliefs, you lost the debate. I am really tired of these movies portraying atheists as just "angry people who just want to sin and are mad at god which shows they actually believe in god". I am not mad at god, because how can I be mad at something that is more than likely not there? I don't believe in any god or goddesses. It's like being mad at the pink unicorn for taking up space in your room. It makes no goddamn sense. Can these movies please start portraying atheists in an honest light? Hell, they can go ahead and do the whole conversion of the atheist character becoming a Christian, I wouldn't give a shit about that! I just would like the atheist character to actually be an atheist, instead of a person who is actually religious but is just mad. It's boring.

Gotta love a Christian writer, writing an atheist to say "I don't want to pray, because it would mean praying to the god that killed my son!" when it's like, no, an atheist doesn't believe there is a god, period. Atheists in this genre always talk like God was this kid that bullied them in school, so they hate him, when it should be as simple as "I don't think any of this is real, how can I hate this religious figure that I don't think is real..?"

You need to make more religious movie reviews! I haven’t laughed this hard in ages. I suggest Old fashioned (Christian version 50 shades of grey) Gods club, or War room.

My entire Christian family can agree that this movie is absolute garbage. Watching this movie in theaters literally made me feel physically painful. I’m so glad someone is talking about this movie! I just hope that Christian directors in the future will realize that a movie is so much more than a sermon with bad acting, editing and little attention to writing. The thing about Christian movies is that they are naive. They are not mean-spirited or promoting hatred (usually). There just isn't ever an edge to them, and by edge I mean there is no creative depth to the story or the characters they are portraying. Christians are not bad or stupid people, they are just naive, thinking that they can just say that faith in God is necessary and call it a day. The thing is, Christians are not supposed to question faith, and that's why we see this approach when Christians are trying to convince people they are right. What could make Christian movies better is a deeper understanding of people, who don't believe in God, for example, a movie about someone, who is suffering from mental health issues, doesn't know what could help him/her, in result other people suffer. The main question of the story would be: how much should I sacrifice for the good, if I don't have much faith in the good? What makes living consistently worthy of my sacrifice? Those questions could lead the audience to think about why people CHOOSE to believe in God, and the movie wouldn't need to ask direct questions. That would be a more sophisticated way of how to present religious ideas to the average person. And with no propaganda involved. Another thing is that Christians are plain not popular these days, so we see less and less of good moviemakers creating something along Christian motifs. There is one AMAZING movie called "Jesus of Nazareth" (1977) by Franco Zeffirelli, which is a miniseries actually. Highly recommend it. One thing I want to ask from everyone: please don't bully Christians. They are just trying to be good. It's not easy for anyone, but at least they are trying.

Despite lots of tropes, and thinking that photography dream heaven thing looked like something 1000's of movies rejected and said "thank we didn't film or go with it" was going to be the worst thing I'd see in this really got topped off by how somehow this movie is a serious film but turns to playing a youtube crack video of music complete with the wife's facial expression. And then she magically has a level of brain cancer literally said no one ever went undetected. This movie would be more believable if Kevin Sorbo' character died from something they didn't detect properly after the accident/"of complications" etc and boo hoo sad christian film ending but he is forgiven and goes with his son while the wife is with her other kids and will be fine. Also I feel more like this became a christmas miracle film because they didn't know how else to write the ending worse. I do have one thing though-christianity propaganda is somehow more tolerable than woke agenda. P.S. If Kevin Sorbo would've played a way better Maxwell Lord in WW84 and made the film less bad with the same material and you cannot change my mind, because he IS a good actor.

My god the wife in this film was annoying. Also aren’t most mobsters affiliated with the Catholic Church? Obviously they’re hypocrites but still most of them think themselves as very religous in a sense. Also wouldn’t the story of a reformed monster be way more interesting? There’s plenty of real life examples to draw from. But that requires creativity. You deserve way more subscribers and likes j. I wish I could like this video multiple times.

My headcannon is that Let There be light is actually a prequel to God's not Dead. And yes, that means, Sorbo was a Christian at the very beginning, then his son died of the cancer so he stopped being Christian, then later in this Movie he becomes Christian again, then later on his Mother dies of Cancer too so he stops being Christian AGAIN! Then he quits his current job, divorces his wife, moves to a new town and is hired to be a professor in Philosophy due to his past experiences with things, his experiences in this movie for example I guess? Not sure they thought about Philosopher teachers when they made the movie, but fuck it its cannon for me. And ya he debates a student till he loses, and finally dies as a Christian once again. Basically God was like, "Yo what if I just like....mess with this guy his entire life?" and Jesus was like, "That would be dope daddyo" Who agrees?

Why do these Christians don't know what Atheist is? We don't "hate" God; we don't BELIEVE in Him.

As a Christian I dislike these movies. Most of the time it falls into massive straw man territory. You have movies like the case for Christ that actually do a decent job at depicting the journey that he went through but I think that is because they actually have stuff to work from. If I were to make a Christian movie I’d go away from making apologetic movies since the groups that do this clearly don’t understand why most atheists are atheists. I think that it would be cool to do more historical stuff. Things like the friends church during time of slavery or the early church under the romans. The cult of death comment was hilarious as I wear virtually all black and they act like that makes me evil or something.
