Thank you so much! It was great meeting you! The spring from mike is adding 10%-15% power.. I'm working on a video but I'm stress testing one like crazy before I do. The lower density has me a little concerned for long term durability... but we shall see :) I agree about Umarex. However, in Europe you can buy the full power models off the shelf. I'm not sure why it would be different here, but it is. I've heard rumors of a 1911 and a baretta 92F in the future.. I REALLY hope its true!

Actually, the compatibility is very close. However, they are thinner than a 1911. If you put them side-by-side with an HDP 50, you can see the difference.

I'm not surprised the LE is sold out, the excitement for it was huge in the Byrna community. I'm still not completely sold on the EP, but only because I'm not sure how safe it would be to not have a safety on your launcher if you're in a panic situation when drawing it, especially if you're using chemical rounds. The PE is expected sometime later this year or early 2024 if the investor reports are anything to go by. But it could change, but it'd be a bad decision on Byrna's part to not get a smaller concealable it to market sooner than later.

@@Joreel I agree completely! They have dominated the market for quite awhile but there are a LOT of up and coming companies. Good for us, competition for them :)

Just between you and me? :0 I was hitting 410 yesterday using nylon/pvc coated jaw breakers. Its a cool little launcher. Just think, they are just getting started! If they continue to improve, they will be major contenders.

I would tend to agree with you. The FPS reading is never followed with the ammo used for testing. In this case, they are the 2.6g rubber/steel rounds. They send some regular rubber rounds but they are tacky so I wouldn’t use them.

Its so funny you'd mention that! I modified a leather holster JUST for that reason. Its a very innovative solution but some good, launcher specific, holster line would be great! Have you tried the Torpedo Revolver from them yet? That thing is awesome.

Have you tried to cut the mag ejector button with a hot razor to take off a little of the length?

My wife has the same issue. I tell her to bring her leg up and use the thick muscle in the front of the thigh, just above the knee, to get it active.

Yeah I was playing around with it and got quite fast swapping them quickly. It would all be practice practice practice.

According to the MUB 50 instruction pamphlet it says you cannot unload it after it is loaded. This is very much inferior to the HDP or HDR loading system.

@@earthenscience There is a way to unload it it requires a small alan key or pin inserted into the top of the upper. This pushes the round down alowing the magazine to release. I Have the Hwasan.68 F7 Glock that uses this very same system just in .68cal.

The ring is a replacement oring. The pin is to push the round back into the magazine from the hole on the top of the slide if you need to unload it without firing all rounded Thanks so much for watching!

I actually have some new aluminum ones coming in shortly to test on the MUB 50. The ones I currently have were a little bit too large. Once I mailed it down, I’ll let you guys know what size to go with.

Where does the C02 leak?

I have taken mine apart because the very first shot at full power blue the seal o-ring and now I cannot find any diagram to put it back together. I got it all figured out other than the trigger spring mechanism but can't find anyone or any device or help reinstalling it

@@GordonClark-sv6pn do you know brother, I actually pulled one apart the day they released, and I was absolutely floored how complex they were internally. Overly so. Let me see if I can get a schematic diagram and I’ll post it if I can find it.

Hey brother, well, it uses the same type of plastic that the HDP 50 does. However, the teardown on this launcher is much more complicated and can explode into a shower of springs and parts. At some point in the future, I will do that video for you guys.

I've got one coming in, I'm going to compare it to my Byrna as well. The advantage to the Byrna is one-handed first shot ability, conventional mag loading, larger powder capacity, and none of that confusing safety & mag release issue. But, the MUB does look like a modernized love child of a Tokarev and Colt .32 1903, so there's that...

I would probably go with a hdp50. While the MUB 50 is more powerful out of the box, the hdp50 is much easier to upgrade into a beast.

Hehe I know its a sea of launchers out there. Start with an HDP50. Either buy it modded OR mod it yourself for the experience. They are a fantastic, POWERFUL, and inexpensive launcher to start on. I have very detailed videos on them.

@@AlternateArmsSD I ordered a MUB 50 before I seen your reply. I just received it today. I purchased it from Amazon. When I fire it, the magazine releases causing it to not load the next ball. Also, when I hit the release (on safe), the magazine jams and doesn't come out until I push the ball down with the supplied pin.

Greetings! Yeah, that's annoying and i found that myself. I use a regular leather holster (That fits several of my launchers) it seems to work and keeps the pressure off of that release. Also, you can have a kydex holster made at a gunshow which will avoid it all together. 9Im working on getting a few made.

The beauty of this design is that you don’t pressurize it until you need it.

Around 16 depending on your choice of ammo.

If you are in a place that allows them, I’m go with the hdp50 compact (modified) or the byrna. Both are small, light, and easy to conceal. If you’re in an area that’s a tad stricter on what you can carry, I’d look at the penshot or stickshot. Both are super easy to conceal and the penshot is an actual pen. I have videos on both. @@chihuahua_mama_1984 The ep Byrna is fine. On the HDP 50, that is an absolutely fantastic launcher, and very easy to modify. Shoot me an email, I have them both on modified and fully modified for sale. I may be able to save you a little bit of money. Yeah, I’m glad you live in Florida. I am in Texas where we are still free as well. As long as we hold onto it :-) As far as the holsters on the hdp50, they will fit any standard 1911 style holster, both concealed carry and external kydex. Byrna, on the other hand, is a little blocky, and requires some thing a little more custom. It’s easy to modify a standard leather holster to fit it, but it does take a little work.

How much for the fully modified HDP50. Or do you sell the kids separately.? How about a price on a modified HDP 50 and a price for just the kit

There’s absolutely no difference. As long as they are 12 g cartridges, you’re fine. I’ve tried several different brands and have not found any major difference between any of them. Just make absolutely sure that the tips are not threaded.

Absolutely, there’s actually a universal Kydex holster that you can get on Amazon. Let me see if I can dig up that link.

What do u think of the blank 9mm guns that fire the pepper mist is it legal to carry in ur state. Just wanted to know ur thoughts on them?

@@shaundennison5391 well, there’s pros and cons both directions. I live in Texas, so it’s pretty much legal to carry everything :-) as far as the blanks, though, since you’re still firing off of a cartridge using a primer, it would still be considered a firearm. Now there are several different companies that utilize a method like this like JPX, and I’ve been meaning to get one of theirs and the test, but they use a primer to propel a stream a great distance actually.

Thank u buddy I live in South Africa and getting a licence to carry a real firearm is difficult. I bought a blank gun the up side of it is that u dont have to buy CO2 cartridges. I have never used mine for self defence as yet and have it for about two years now. Anyways I like ur Videos and I am think about buying a pepper ball gun just still considering which one.

Mercury rise has a tendency to label everything that they have either training or paintball just to skirt some of the import rules. They are identical though.

Oh ouch! My guess is that that means your hammer is not making full contact with a firing pin. If it’s hitting it lightly, that would explain the lack of pressure. You might look into a rebuild kit and rebuild the mechanism.

@@AlternateArmsSD i had to pull the hammer out of the valve w/ pliers. I think the valve is damaged. I likely will not try to fix it. I have better ones to catch up on their maintenance and such.

@@AlternateArmsSD Oh yeah and I totally forgot to mention something. I switched from regular oil to chapstick, it turns out that orings in the presence of most oils will get brittle over time and rip. it's a tip a friend gave me when he was telling me about the orings on his fuel injectors. I tried his method a couple years ago and I checked them last week and it seems that chapstick keeps orings pretty fresh.

Be sure you are only using a high quality synthetic oil. Dino oils will and can breakdown or dry out orings. We also reccomend staying away from aerosols as well, problem with aerosols being many use a carrier agent that will break down orings and seals.

@@wrekingcrew1398 Agreed! I’ve had people actually say they’re using WD-40 as a lubricant. Do you want to talk about a dirt and dust magnet. Another thing that I have found that actually works very well is a light dusting of baby powder, or any other very fine corn starch. As long as they don’t get moist, it is a perfect carrier and keeps rounds moving very quickly through the weapon. I love experimenting with these. I’ve been able to get far more power out of them, and I’ve even posted, but that was sort of eliminate the less than lethal purpose.

Well, that boils down to personal preference, and of course, payload. You get considerably more powder in a 68 caliber round then you do in a 50 caliber round. However, if you practice with your launcher daily, none of that really matters. It’s more about shot placement than volume. (But volume is never a bad thing)

You need to change the Oring in the valve. Its pretty easy and cheap.

Ok, make sure it’s on safety, there is no C02 in the system, and that the launcher is discharged. Now, I’m the box there is a plastic “pin”. On the top of the launcher there is a small hole. Push the pin onto the hole and that will force the jammed rounds back into the magazine. Then, release the magazine. (You have have to pull it a tiny bit if the round is still too high.

@@AlternateArmsSD I have rubber steal balls so I removed them . They are sticky so I’m just sticking with rubber balls .

The Salt Supply is a BEAST right out of the box. It rivals the Byrna HD with no upgrades at all. Also, and I cant say this about any other semi auto launcher, I have NEVER had a jam in my Salt Supply. It just works every time.@@kennymike7937

@@AlternateArmsSD I ordered a Byrna LE. Just waiting for it to be sent. I got the MUB 50 working by removing the magazine release and the lever which keeps it from ejecting when not on safe. Have to use a small screwdriver to eject the mag but it works (kinda).

Not as of yet. I actually tore one of these down and it is considerably more complicated internally than any other launcher. I’ve tested. I’m working on a couple of possible upgrades now.

@@AlternateArmsSD I noticed something interesting...on Amazon I purchased some 50cal slingshot ammo. Weighs 8.32g When fired at 350fps this produced 47 joules. When fired at 400fps it would produce 61.84 joules!!!!! 😳😳😳

@@CapNFapNFYP That’s brutal! Just keep an eye on your seals and detents. The steel bearings can be a little tough on them.

@@CapNFapNFYP Generally it’s 300-400 depending on the ammo you are using. More on softer ammo or pepperballs.

The test rounds were heavy dense rubber as I recall. Around 2.4G. The MUB 50 is nice but I’m growing very fond of the torpedo launcher. Also, I’d you buy one, I have a 10 discount code on that video!

@@JayJone5169 Yes indeed. Both the hdp50 and compact are great launchers. Easy to upgrade and maintain and they are dependable.

Actually, you can unload it. If you look on the top of the slide, there is a small hole. If you hook the tool that they include down the hole or a paper clip, you can press the ball down into the magazine, allowing you to release the magazine.

@@AlternateArmsSD The manual says "Warning: You are not allowed to unload a magazine until it is empty."

@@earthenscience Trust me, you can. You just have to press that chambered ball back into the magazine.

@@AlternateArmsSD The exact words of the manual says "Warning: Only the empty magazine in the pistol is allowed to be unloaded." The magazine feels junky to me so I am not going to disobey the instructions. For example, I took the gun apart and it was very difficult to put the magazine back in and it seemed like a flimsy design. For example, when I picked up the gun the magazine just popped out for no reason. I think I did put the gun back together correctly since I shot 3 magazines so far with no feed issues. And I tell you what, black rubber balls are no good for defense, I cannot see the projectiles at all. Anything bright colored you want for defense, metal is shiny and good for defense. And the sight picture is as bad as the original 1911, I do not recommend this for defense it has one of the worst iron sights I have ever seen. And I put my hand in front of the barrel to measure the power, at first I thought it had a lot of power, but only because some aluminum shards gave me a splinter on my finger. I put some Chinese aluminums in earlier, they had the more joules than the rubber but they leave a bunch of shards. The thing only outputs 8 joules max. I left it at Factory settings at max power. I couldn't tighten it cc with the allen wrench. In case the instructions were backwards I tightened it clockwise with the allen wrench as much as I could, it made it even weaker, 25% of the original power. I will stick with the HDR or HDP for defense. Someone made a video claiming this has 20 joules but I don't know how. I put my hand 2 inches in front of the barrel and it barely stung. You get way too many shots out of this thing, I had to shoot it about 25 times until it was empty. And I do not recommend anyone putting their hand 2 inches infront of the barrel (because of the shards.)

@@earthenscience once again, I’m not disputing what the instructions say. I’m simply giving you the reality of how to unload the weapon if it is already loaded without having to fire up all of the rounds :-) they are about 16 Joules out of the box. You’re gonna get maximum pressure out of the first 8 to 12 shots for certain and then diminishing returns as you go along. You are 100% correct on the build complexity. it is much more complicated than it needs to be.

Never, until you puncture it. After you puncture the C02 and use the weapon, you should change the cartridge to a fresh unit. It will stay indefinitely until punctured.

@@AlternateArmsSD so after I shoot all 6 rounds change the co2 cartridge

@@LinkBeats15 you should fire all six rounds, and then keep firing until all of the CO2 is gone. Then, change the cartridge :-) also, on that particular launcher, you can just twist the bottom to release the pressure on the CO2 cartridge.

@@LinkBeats15 if you turn the valve on the bottom you will hear it “hiss” out. Hold it open until it stops and it’s empty.

I love the fact that Scully is so widely recognized :-) it takes me about nine hours to print one at 30% infill which is what we are firing at. We were recently on vacation now and I had my printers on Auto so I’m curious to see how many of them actually printed and how many of them failed :-)

ROFL! I have never once claimed that at all. This thing was 16 and 18 at best out of the box. Do you think it’s possible to get 50 J out of this, maybe if you bottle-fed it, but even then, I think it’s a stretch. You’re dealing with a limited amount of air supply in the chamber.
