Level Spotlight #1 - Asterios, Deimos, Tapwreck and more! 

hey guys, i’m really sorry about the audio at 6:27, i accidentally left the original audio from Kapinpis clip that i was using and it overpowers my voice, it only does it for about 10 seconds but it’s still really annoying and it takes away from the momentum of the video; i did skim through the vid before i published it to make sure there were no mistakes like this, but i didn’t thoroughly watch it all through, and this is entirely my fault. i don’t want to reupload the entire video since it would be a pain for your sub boxes, and it’s only a short mistake, though it does kind of ruin that section of the video. i hope you guys understand and i hope that it’s not too big a deal, i’m really sorry about this and i promise i’ll be more careful to check for these things in the future :(

This was a blast to watch thank you, these kind of videos are always interesting, i can finally hear some good opinions Asterios, tapwreck and distraught are all among my favorite levels. I think they're often overlooked by people, while they're actually very good levels to my eyes , with some thought put into it. I really like tapwreck because it reminds me of UserMatt's Core levels (ex: CoreBreaker) and old majacko levels. I really enjoy this style and it fits the song, giving an opressing and heavy atmosphere. Asterios might not be the best deco level out there but i have to respect it's consistency. Some of the art shown is extremely good, like the one in the beggining. The gameplay is also very appealing with those insane duals. The song was a good pick too. I'm on your side for this one. And distraught, like you said, is one of the few levels i can re-watch dozens of times without getting bored. The atmosphere is very well executed , with effects underlining the heavy beats of the song, like the explosions in juhou's part or in the last part. The gameplay gives this energetic feeling too, while still being simple. Sorry this was a bit too long for nothing and basically repeating the video, but i wanted to speak up and say a few words too Very entertaining video, i'm waiting for more! 🙂

I think that Acu honestly deserves much more attention than it has, its one of the easier extremes and is incredibly fun, it also looks really good and I'm honestly usually pretty critical of modern style levels, and the sync and song are both great too, my only real problem is that in some parts the gameplay is weird until you get consistent and that the predrop could be a little better

One thing overall that I got from this video is that you look more at atmosphere and ideas rather than pure looks, which is a mindset I wholeheartedly agree with. GD levels, as stupid as that might sound, are a form of art I sort of. There's a lot that can be done with the right song and the right style, and levels can (though sadly often don't) try to tell a story, or give off a specific idea or feeling. I feel like this aspect is rather unapreciated, even when used great (like in Tapwreck or The Golden), but I do think this is the "next step" for GD levels - the thing that will make future levels better than those of the past. Like Leyak (imo the best level to date in the game), they will use the song, decoration, and even gameplay to create specific atmospheres and deeper meanings. It's really sad that these aspects go unapreciated sometimes, but I'm glad you're talking about them at least. I feel like everything you said is more or less some thing I thought of at least once. All in all, great video, and I'm excited for more :)

Yeah make more of this. I like how you actually mentioned feeling, song and thought is equally as important as the design or gameplay or vice versa. I agree with this but I do think Deimos could represent the phobos gameplay a little bit more but idk that's just me ig.

I made an auto version of Triple Six. It's such a beautiful level, I've looked at every art piece in the flashy part, they're scary, but beautiful. This is one of my favorite levels if not the favorite.

I really like the concept of this video keep it up!

Basically, Deimos and Tapwreck all do these inconsistencies and have intentionally bad parts in order to fit the song more, or in Deimos's case, it's prequel. I personally really dislike the idea of sacrificing gameplay and decoration quality in order to make it more fitting. I still have respect to the hosts for pulling off that kind of idea, but I think it's much more important to make the level good, and not make it tribute more to the song/a level that came out in 1.9 and was solely made to be difficult. To me they're ideas that really shouldn't have been a way to spend their time, but that's their choice and I'm guessing they all had fun making the levels. But just because the level is more fitting it doesn't make it much better. Everything else I can agree to except mentioning zylenox's gameplay in triple six (which has the same issue I addressed for Deimos and Tapwreck) and you mentioned all the levels as masterpieces, which to me, none of them are. A masterpiece would be something almost perfectly made in all regards, and you did mention that the quality on its own isn't the best out there, so its kind of contradictive of you to say that. Otherwise great video!

Only because Deimos is a sequel to Phobos, it doesnt give the excuse to be a bad level, they could use the sequel to fix that. But that is just my opinion (And i dont think they did that on purpose xd) Oh and can you review Requiem?

I agree with all of this, Tapwreck is an awesome level, my favorite extreme by far, Asterios looks awesome . Deimos has an awesome atmosphere. Triple Six is one of my favorites. And Distraught is just awesome

-You exaggerated the consistency of Asterios so much. 2:06 is so much different than 2:25. No, it doen't look like a solo at all, and if it was then it would be a mash of different styles for no particular reason. -So, if Deimos is a parallel of Phobos, is it going to be hacked xD??? Also, for me making a mesh of different styles isn't what Phobos was. It has it's own style. Yeah there are parts that do not make sense, but 1.9 megacollabs were like that. And Deimos doen't look like that at all. For me at least, it's its own thing. -Tapwreck is great. -oMG dON't pLAY 666 at 3AM u dIE dEMon??? (really good haha) -Distraught (idk if that's the name xD). The first part is kinda generic, but everything after is pretty good.
